Studio Room- beautiful lighting from the wide windows Example of what the table and stools look like

Had the best experience! During this past weekend, we rented the center to celebrate my daughter'a birthday party! We had 20 + kids and equally the same amount of adults and we were able to fit comfortably. In other photos it does not show how spacious this location is. The studio space and play space are separated by a wall with a look-in window which is amazing to peep in and watch the kids play if needed. Booking this location was easy you go on their website and I believe the owner Anna will coordinate it all with you, which is helpful. She informed me that they provide (6) 4ft tables and seating stools (FOR KIDS! So they're tiny and short) which ended up very useful for our event. Day of the party, there were two women that help manage the party and LET ME SAY THEY ARE AMAZING!! Boomy and her daughter were the highlight of this location. They were super nice, helpful and made sure we had everything we needed for a successful party. I can't emphasize HOW MUCH I TRULY APPRECIATED her and her daughter for being there and making this such a memorable experience. I will be back again many more times just because this was truly the best experience I've had!

This post is long overdue! We celebrated my son's 3rd birthday, and it was an absolute success! Highly recommend this venue - spacious, clean area, accessible bathroom, and you get the whole place to yourself. It was so fulfilling seeing parents chatting and kids having fun around friends and family.

We booked the private party package and had access to the whole play space -- bounce house, ball pit, climbers, all of it. Our host took care of setup and cleanup so we could actually enjoy the party instead of running around. The kids had a blast, and I loved that there was a quiet/sensory room for anyone who needed a break from the excitement. My daughter and her friends had a BLAST! If you're looking for an stress-free, kid-approved birthday spot in Alameda, Swings & Wings is it. We'll be back!

We recently came for a birthday party for my friend's son. The reason why my friend chose swings…read moreand wings is because she has a 3 month old baby, and wanted to do something special for her 6 year old son that didn't require a lot of work on her end. There were supposed to be party attendants, however, one of them was out sick, so the party attendant service was not provided as offered. One staff member (she was wearing a hijab), came in later, and kept to herself, and was on her phone at the front desk. My friend went up to the front desk and asked if she could have help with lunch cleanup so we could prepare for singing and dessert. The venue requires everyone to wear socks, so we didn't want people stepping in food. The employee came at that point and helped sweep. There was an elderly women in our party, whose son came to pick her up towards the end, as well as help pack up up since my friend was busy with her infant. At the end of the party, another employee came up to my friend to discuss the bill. The employees wanted to charge for him to come into the venue, and they also charged the party attendant fee. My friend expressed to them that we did not have a party attendant and did not want to be charged for it. The girl in the hijab begin to have attitude with my friend, and told her that she helped, to which my friend responded that she had to go seek her out and found her doing nothing and on her phone, and she only helped to sweep after being asked. The two employees began cleaning up suddenly, but were talking about my friend within earshot. It was disheartening because it seems like a great place for kids to play and has so much potential, but I felt so bad for my friend that she was treated this way, and just wanted a little help so she could celebrate her son's birthday.

When I signed my kids up, I added that I had a few concerns since my kids have special needs, and the staff were very understanding and communicative. My kids had a great time here--they baked, did arts and crafts, baked, etc. The camp is located across the street from a park, so they had plenty of outside time. After the camp ended, I even received a Google photo album with pictures of my kids. Really appreciate the extra touch!

Since we had just moved, we were unable to find somewhere to take him which is initially why we opted for Kids Elite because they had a space for him. What a stroke of luck! He is a big lover of science and art and has flourished with the help of the attentive staff. He comes home every day so excited to tell us all about the project he completed that afternoon. Even though he is one of the younger kids at the school, he has formed friendships with all of the kids, even the older ones. The staff really strives for kindness and respect as a pillar of their program and it shows. They also do an excellent job of communicating how the students are doing and even go above and beyond customizing some of the curriculum based on kids' interests. If we had to do it over again, we'd choose Kids Elite again in a heartbeat. We truly could not recommend them enough.

Our son has been going to the after school program since TK and he loves the STEAM program (STEM +…read moreART)! He enjoys the van ride from Bay Farm to the big island with the other kids and now that he's in K, he spends about 2-3 hours after school there - playing with new and old friends, learning more coding, math, reading, and science and experimenting with art methods. It definitely fills in the gaps of public school with the stronger focus on academics. We are very happy with his progress. And of course, he loves his STEAM teachers, Ms. Yuan and Ms. Jamila, as well as the coding, art and math teachers (Mr. Francisco, Mr. Patrick, Ms. Emily, etc.). That being said, this school isn't for everyone and parents have to be open to finding the right school for their child (which can change over time). For our family, I appreciate that this school respects the learning environment best for kids who are ready and motivated to learn on their own. This means that the kids are ready to learn and appreciate the lessons prepared (not yelling, standing on tables, napping, or other disruptive behavior), responsible/sensible to sit in a van full of kids and listen to the teacher, get along and be respectful to others, etc. To keep the kids on schedule with the van and different subjects requires tremendous patience, planning and care from the teachers, staff (Mr. Long) and Director Sunny - we appreciate you! If your kids can focus and manage at YY, they can sit through movies, dinners, airplane rides, etc. - self-managed discipline is what I appreciate the most. The staff communicates well in advance and also is very responsive and accommodating (e.g. if I have to pick up early, miss school, have another parent pickup, etc.). They also have parent-teacher conferences twice a year with a newsletter about your child's class with photos. Also, when we first signed up for TK when my child was 4, I was worried about the transportation, but that's one of the best part that our kid looks forward to when he goes to YY with his friends - it's safe and the van is there early for pickups (and the fee is very economical for us working parents!). We also have friends in the Mandarin program whose parents are very impressed with their children's language and writing skills and enjoy their class performances! We also have a friend who moved their child here due to allergies. Our kid also has a mild allergy and Yuying is very good about keeping everyone safe with allergies (making sure there's no nuts in anyone's lunchbox, no sharing, educating kids about allergies and keeping everyone safe, etc.) and also keeping up with the parents for updated EpiPens and meds.

There is also ample time for play as my son is active so he needs to burn his energy off. The teachers are caring and nice. The only thing I don't care for is the parking situation. It's on a busy street surrounded by multi-unit housing so parents are frequently double parking on Central Ave and some in the past have even driven across the sidewalk from adjacent driveways without regard to pedestrians. Parents need to be less entitled and walk like the rest of us and not put my life or kids in danger. If you're one of those parents reading this review then please stop.

A very generous neighbor of mine invited my husband and me to the Alameda Elks Lodge Annual Crab…read moreFeed, which was held yesterday evening. I'm giving the lodge a four star for my dining experience and an enjoyable evening. My husband has been here more than a few times to play games of pool with our friendly neighbor and one of his friends. I have been here before for another event almost three years ago. The interior is beautiful, but the walls are thin. One can actually hear people talking in the next room. Our meeting place was the Mahogany Room for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. I did not want to stuff myself with the appetizers and not have enough room in my stomach for the main entree - crab. Nor did I want any libation before the meal. After the cocktail hour, we were escorted to the Rathskeller (basement of the lodge) where the dinner was held. The gentlemen on the waitstaff were lined up in an orderly manner, serving us whatever we desired - be it the bowtie/penne pasta, dinner rolls/garlic bread, coffee, dessert. Presentation of the crab, the wines (red and white), Caesar salad and the antipasti plates was excellent...casual, yet classy. Dessert was a serving of raspberry sorbet. The only minor drawback was the bowtie/penne pasta served on the same plate as the salad plate. Even though I did not win any of the door prizes after making a donation of $20 for 20 raffle tickets, they had some nice ones, such as the $100 gift card from Scott's Seafood, $100 gift card for Yoshi's dinner and show, $50 gift cards from La Penca Azul, C'era Una Volta, 1400 Bar and Grill, Jim's Coffee Shop, Pier 29. From what I heard, the lodge raised about $1,500 in raffle ticket sales. I also have to give kudos to the waitstaff, many of whom were very tolerable and patient with this woman who sat at the next table behind my husband. She was in the wine (whine) mode. "I want penne pasta. I don't want this dinner roll with butter. I want some garlic bread. Don't you guys have any garlic bread?" On and on she went...egads...she had a sense of entitlement. Yes, there were two bottles of wine at each table, but her incessant whining almost had me do a "face palm" on her. Ooh, I wanted to offer her a piece of cheese, which would have complemented a glass of wine very well. (Now, quit your whining, lady...lol.)
