The gym is brand new, huge, spacious and open and the coaches and their team have done a great job transitioning to life with Covid.

It doesn't even matter how old you are, because this is where you come to play! After completing…read moreseveral beginner courses in Ninja Warrior and Parkour, I try to come back to many of the special events hosted by Sqvadron, the resident pro-team, even if I can't come to the regular classes at the moment. I can't say enough good things about being a part of this community! Some cool events I attended recently were, 'Gathering of the Amazons (all-women jam day)', 'Parkour Reps' w/Darryl Stingley, and 'Storm x Sqvadron Jam'. On the day of attending the 'Gathering of the Amazons' event at Apex Norcal, Mel Riveria from Sqvdron and Lynn Jung from Storm, lead a women-only jam session outside at UC Berkeley campus. I don't know the last time I had so much fun at a school campus before! After the outdoor jam session, being back to the gym was a perfect complement to the day. It was a well-thought-out learning day of bringing parkour outside and learning the different types of environments for various lines for newbies like me. Having a day dedicated to jamming, watching, and learning from other women who are super talented was so empowering. It helped alleviate some anxiety about trying out the sport mainly taken over by boys/men and not feel so intimidated during jam sessions or open gym. With that said, I can appreciate anyone who can jump off buildings no matter what gender you are. It takes lots of courage and skill to do that and I can binge-watch that on Instagram. So props to all Ninja Warriors and Parkour athletes everywhere. And even though I wouldn't ever see myself jumping off a building, one can feel comfortable by practicing inside a gym like Apex Norcal if they ever need to use that skill! To all the staff and coaches that I know, you are the best!

Everything else is taken care of. Decorations not necessary given the space. They even have tablecloths and serve the pizza for you. Staffing was excellent- great employee to kid ratios. I would say it's best for ages 4 and up, not younger toddlers. The only downsides are you do have to book at midnight the time it opens 2 months ahead if you want a guaranteed spot (even then may not get it!). Fairly pricey, and if over base amount of kids included gets even pricier. It was definitely worth it given everything they do.

My daughter, now 8, has attended Encore's summer camps in previous years when she was 6 and 7. She…read moreis autistic--funny, sweet, and energetic--but she can sometimes struggle with following directions. When she first attended at 6, we had a great experience, and even spoke with someone who said they specialized in supporting children with special needs. That gave us a lot of confidence in returning the following summer. When she was 7, we enrolled her for several weeks in the afternoons after her summer school program. We were assured that she was welcome and that there would be no issues. The first week went smoothly. During the second week, however, we were told she wasn't staying with the group the entire time and that it was a safety concern. Instead of working with us on strategies or accommodations, we were abruptly told it would be best if she not return for the rest of the summer. This left us without childcare for weeks during a time when both my spouse and I work full‑time. Despite that experience, we still hoped things could be different this year. Our daughter has grown a lot, and with ADHD medication, many of the behaviors they struggled with have improved significantly. We planned to sign her--and our son--up for just one week. But when I tried to register, I discovered there was a hold on our account. After calling and being told someone would get back to me, I was later informed that they were "too worried" about my daughter being a problem again. No one asked whether anything had changed since last year. Instead, I was told we could send her only if we provided an aide or a family member to supervise her the entire time. If we had a family member available to supervise, we wouldn't need a camp. And paying for an aide on top of an already expensive camp simply isn't feasible for most families. My advice to other parents: if your child is autistic, on the spectrum, or simply not a perfectly rule‑following child, think carefully before signing up. In our experience, Encore did not offer support, collaboration, or solutions--only exclusion. It's painful to see an 8‑year‑old who means no harm turned away instead of being met with understanding and partnership. Families deserve better, and so do our kids. I am giving this two stars because I imagine if you have neurotypical children the camp is fine.

We went through 5 or 6 coaches(honestly could have been more but for sure not less). My daughter tried out and made pre team...we decided against it when we were told it would start in July...well July came and went and nothing. Pretty sure pre team didn't start until September. My daughter moved up to beginner 2 and her first day in the class she was bullied by another student and told to stop doing what the coach told her to do and pushed her, the coach did nothing. My daughter's shoes were stolen and they did nothing...just told me to take the other child's pair of shoes after class. The a few weeks later her coach came out and approached me at my car rudely about my daughters crocs and then tried to insinuate that we took someone else's. The second to last class we were at the coach for beginner 1 was sitting on the floor just talking to a student not helping the other children with their stations and making sure they were doing things correctly. During conditioning the coaches don't watch the kids to make sure they are doing things safely...instead they just sit and talk with themselves. When I brought this to their attention I was told "since it wasn't brought to their attention when it happened they couldn't do anything". I told them we would not be returning, after already being gone for 2 weeks and was told I had to stay until the end of the month. We haven't been back in 4/5 weeks and they are still trying to charge me. I had to put a block through my bank so they couldn't charge me and call them to reiterate I wasn't paying and we would not be returning. They also gave me the run around for 2 days about canceling. They just want your money and do not care about the children. Editing to add that as of today, December 25th they are still trying to charge me when I cancelled with them over a month ago!

Many pros include Spanish immersion, delicious home-cooked meals and snacks, beautifully-curated indoor and outdoor areas, diverse group of children from all over CoCo County, thoughtful curriculum for all ages and developmental stages, and wonderfully engaging activities and monthly/seasonal themes. We also loved the various events throughout the year like the Holiday Pageant and the Halloween Parade and Trunk or Treat. Our family couldn't be more grateful for the care our children received from HLF from their opening in 2020 until 2023! Center is always clean, organized, and kid-focused. The staff are reliable and trustworthy. And I'll never forget the special graduation ceremony held for my post-COVID graduates :) My kids were ready for Kindergarten both academically and socially and they still treasure memories and friendships from their HLF days. Another bonus is they offer occasional Parents Night Out babysitting events that are open to currently enrolled kids and alumni. Only, very tiny cons include: They hold a very high tolerance for badly-behaved children, some of which become physically violent. My children told us stories of kids who would throw toys and push and hurt other children, but there seemed to be no reprocussion because the poorly-behaved children still attend the school. Also, my kids mentioned a few instances of being teased and seeing others teased by the owner's son and he didn't receive any discipline or redirection. Not deal-breakers by any means, but want to give a 100% honest review. Overall, would I recommend HLF? ABSOLUTELY and without hesitation.
