DO NOT use Peter Sena furniture repair. I had a horrible experience with Peter. He repaired two…read moredining room chairs for me. They were custom made from Thomasville, (Peter kept trying to say they were poorly made from a factory in China) and I still do not have them back in my possession. He has had them since November 2020. Peter had taken my chairs for repairs and had them for a few weeks. I hadn't heard back from him. I left him a message and he got back to me with a message, stating that my chairs would definitely be ready before Thanksgiving. Due to a phone glitch, I did not receive Peter's message telling me my chairs were ready, and my phone did not alert me I had a voicemail. When I called him on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, he let me know that it was too late, he already made his deliveries, and that he would not be bringing my chairs. In a calm voice I simply stated, "Oh, I wish you had pursued with a follow-up phone call." I don't think I fully had the sentence out of my mouth when Peter immediately started yelling at me to the effect of, "Listen, lady, you are not putting this on me!" I responded that I certainly wasn't and that I admitted I missed his call, but he kept yelling, quite nastily, and would not let me get a word in. He then hung up on me. Peter would not answer when I called him back, which again, I was very calm, not raising my voice at all in the message I left. I told him he must be having a really bad day and that I would reach out after Thanksgiving. That was the last time I spoke to Peter Sena. He has refused to answer any of my calls. I was reluctant to show up at his shop, as it is 45 minutes away and he is often out for pick-ups and deliveries. I did not want to make the drive if he was not going to be there, in addition to the fact that I do not think he is a stable person. After two weeks of daily calls and filing a complaint with the police, I received a letter via certified mail, stating he would meet me at the police station for the exchange of money and furniture, and he was tacking on $150 as a late and storage fee, even though I had been trying to get my furniture back from him for weeks. The letter itself is quite odd, as is the request. I called and left a message stating I would not pay the extra fee but would meet him with cash on one of the specific dates he had requested. I never heard back from him. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are assisting me in the matter. But as stated, I have yet to get my chairs back. I noticed another review after I had hired Peter, and a woman had a similar experience. Peter became easily agitated, aggressive, and nasty with her, as well, when she was trying to give him driving directions. Peter does not use any technology in his dealings - no GPS or texting. I had to email pictures of my chair to a local print shop for him to look at. It is simply not in my nature to yell at anyone, especially over chairs. I never raised my voice to this man. Part of me feels bad for him. Clearly, he has issues. Please, save yourself the trouble of dealing with someone who obviously does not know how to communicate with people or run a business. Take your furniture elsewhere to be fixed. Peter Sena is not your man.

Should you choose to use him, make sure you get all info in writing, including cost, mode of payment (cash, etc.), that he will deliver the item back to you, and when. We called after he had the chair for a month and got a vague answer about when he would be done and return it to us. Called again 3 weeks later, he didn't answer, we left messages that he didn't return. After 13 calls over 3 weeks (we left messages for maybe half of them), he sent us a certified letter accusing us of harassment, trying to bill us for storage, etc. The resolution came from calling the Bradley Beach Police. They got him to agree to return the chair to us at the police station, for only the original repair cost (no add ons) in cash. So we came out OK, except that we needed to drive 50 miles each way, to get the item that was supposed to be delivered back to us.

Do NOT use him if you want your job completed. We used Tom for many years, to our satisfaction…read more However the last 2 projects that we gave him came out horribly. He said he would pick them up to redo them, but never came back, and he does not return the many phone calls. He is very expensive, which used to be OK if the work was well done, but we now need to spend over $1500 to have someone else do it.

Art and time are on a teeter totter of sorts. The preceding sounds somewhat mysterious, but I will…read moresay I am more appreciative of art than time. In Tom Farruggio, I found an artist with profound skills and understanding of history and materials, that comes both from the method under which he was instructed, the very European school of apprenticeship in furniture restoration, and his love for what he is doing. In his case it is a family thing, great-grandfather to grandfather to father to son. I'm willing to bet if you brought Tom the broken off carved foot of something you thought was a chair, he could make the chair, or thought was a table, he could make the table. Tom has completely changed my eye when I go antique shopping. When I used to see broken bits and pieces of what were very nice antiques, I'd pass. Now, if I like the pieces, I know Tom can provide the final piece. It is a kind of magic. And this can be virtually any piece if it is from wood. Consider, you love the look of a rope bed, but you have a memory foam mattress system that comforts your back. That rope bed frame isn't going to hold your memory foam mattress. Unless you find Tom and he fashions a compete frame from the historical parts and other historical parts with unseen joins. And then you vision is executed. This is especially so with inlaid veneers. My husband and I love French and Italian inlaid works. And you see them wrecked on the inlays and with broken bones. Tom can fix the bones and work his magic on the inlays. And you'd never know it. What we have also come to appreciate is that we can present Tom with a sketch of our idea of (in our case) an Art Deco waterfall cabinetry system, some color ideas, and such will appear. It is delicious. We compete for his time with his other clients and hence are patient. And he, like we, have our family challenges, and like we, family comes first.
