Having said…read morethat, though, I will absolutely use Kash again for any future CEUs I might need and I would HIGHLY recommend them. I will only speak for myself with this review and what I saw. I also think it would be helpful to touch on what I know now, compared to at the beginning of my courses, when I didn't really know what I was getting in to. I started with the CNA course offerred in Sept/Oct and also took the weekend Nov HHA course. Both had an online lecture portion and in-person Clinicals. I think it goes without saying that I was with Kash for a while and in a variety of experiences, so I think I can speak to alot of different aspects. And I will also say that I JUST completed my CNA Skills Exam yesterday and passed on the first try. Lecture: Yes, the lecture Instructor, Mr. Steven Moe, goes off on tangents during class, but he's such a sweet man. He really is there because he wants us to do well. But there are expectations with anything... showing up to class on time, no talking out of line, or students yelling. Yes, that did happen a few times on our Zooms and it was awkward. Generally speaking, if you go in with an understanding that you'll just have to jump through some hoops, then you'll be fine. You get what you want out of any experience and just find the nuggets that are medically relevant and move on. Clinicals: I had both Ms. Linda Williams (for CNA) and Ms. Mavis Stovall (for HHA) and they were both excellent Instructors. If you are willing to put in the work and be a team player, you'll do just fine. I did overhear some students complain that what we are doing is 'slave labor,' because we're working for free, but giving the benefit of the doubt, maybe they just haven't had experience in the medical field. As a med student, a student nurse, training to be a CNA, or HHA, anything, you name it... you HAVE to put in hours in a Clinical setting and you're not going to get paid to do that. How else will you learn? Just jump through this hoop. You CHOOSE to be there, so just make the most of it. Every minute you're there, you're learning something new that could potentially help a future patient and THAT is the most important. WHAT I WOULD'VE DONE DIFFERENTLY, NOW THAT I'M THROUGH THE COURSE (the CNA course specifically): Credentia website: Credentia.com is the website that you will schedule your Skills exam, once you have completed the course. And it also contains the resources and step by step instructions for all 22 skills that each State tests on. We were told to not go on to Credentia to look at anything related to the Skills during the Lecture portion of class. I wish I didn't listen. You can go on and create an account to get a look at the Handbook anytime. We generally discuss the skills in Lecture in the book, but, again, it's not specific to California. I could have been waaaay more efficient in my studying, had I just gone on to Credentia and looked at California's Handbook right off the bat. But playing devil's advocate, I can see why Mr. Moe would say to not look at the Handbook, because one might get overwhelmed. I have taken college level coursework for years, so I have had the time as a student to know what works for me. I'm sure some folks taking this course might not have been a student for long and might get overwhelmed if they look at the Handbook too early. But if you feel like you know yourself well enough, know what works for you and you study well and efficiently, you might benefit from this tidbit. Hartman videos you will be watching: Don't get me wrong, these videos are invaluable, because we were online and we didn't have each other, or mannequins to practice on. But, this goes back to knowing that there are State specific Skills... the Hartman videos are not specific to California and I would've liked to have known that earlier on. MOST of what the videos touch on is correct for California, but I'm weird... I would've wanted to know the specific details of what California wanted to see alot sooner than we did. Hence... why I discussed the Credentia Handbook above. Practicing the Skills themselves: You will NOT be able to practice the Skills correctly while at your Clinicals. There is simply no time for that. The CNA employee has enough to do. Get what practice in where/when you can. Just understand that you will HAVE to study outside of class, at home. Treat it like ANY other class you would take... you sit through lecture and then study at home. There seemed to be alot of unnecessary pain caused in some students, where they expected that all Skills practice would happen on the job. I just wish we had access to a mannequin, somehow, but that's just not an option and I had to be ok with that. Overall, just go with the flow. Be on time and just rise to any expectations. But good news is that the parking fee is temporarily suspended due to COVID. This review is just for the tennis courts.; the Sue Lorimer & Bob Bruns Tennis Complex. The courts were clean and maintained. They have 8 courts that are nicely spaced out and have a 4 feet tall fencing between the side by side courts. Each court has a covered bench. On the weekends, there is campus security present. An emergency blue box call phone is located on the pathway from the parking lot between the courts and running track. Plus monitored cameras. So no funny business. No skateboarding, bicycling, roller skating, picnicking, playing basketball ... other horseplay stuff other than tennis on the courts. The formal rules are posted throughout. Another thing to note is that near the front of court 1, facing the track, is the posting of Folsom Lake College's collegiate tennis schedule. On those game days, the courts are closed to public play. Game. Set. Match.

To enter the building you have to enter the front which is where everybody can see you from Folsom blvd. It's a bit of inconvenience but for safety reasons, I get it. Upon entry there's student services, and to the left they have a generic bookstore area (I can't really call it a bookstore because it's just a person behind the counter) and a lounge to chill/study. They have a copier for students to use in the lounge area (10 cents per page). The classrooms are pretty decent size and all new! No graffiti/doodling on the tables or odd gums underneath the tables, or stinky carpet. The bathrooms aren't disgusting either. This location isn't so bad, but the parking lot needs improvement.

All in all, this is a great location for an evening class or a class that doesn't require much interaction with the main campus.

I have repeatedly raised concerns about what I believe has been inconsistent treatment, grading practices, communication, and disciplinary decisions. Instead of feeling like a student who's concerns were taken seriously, I've been constantly ignored my the Dean, the school's discrimination team, and any other higher ups for the RT program. Prepare for the instructors to create an environment that feels less than pleasant, and certainly not respectful. We pay to go to this school, and they treat us like we are in the military. Hair up, uniform on point, 4 hour classes where you'd be lucky if you get allowed a 10 minute break. Rules are enforced differently based on if Elma Dos Santos likes you or not. Some students are able to slide by if they do a little butt-kissing, those who prefer to stand with integrity are usually punished. I am proud to say I am one of those students. And then came the bathroom situation. Both campus restrooms were unavailable due to being serviced, so students were told to "just wait." A few students, myself included, left to go across the street and relieve ourselves. If you can believe this, when we came back to the classroom we were told to "sing & dance" in front of our peers to prevent having our professionalism points deducted for being late back from break. I said no, that I refuse to be humiliated in front of my entire cohort, & my points were taken away dropping my grade significantly; I went from an A in the class to a C. Is this not a form of hazing? And it's the instructors wanting us to do this which is the worst part. If I could go back in time, I never would have chose Carrington College/SJVC Rancho Cordova. Some of the staff are cool, and truly do care about education and the students. Stephanie, the admissions counselor is amazing. Mr. Wallace is kind and knowledgeable and loves what he does, Mrs. Crabtree who is no longer there, was amazing. However the RT program director, Ms. Dos Santos, is a walking bag of spite. If you are not prepared to bow down to her, she will make sure to make your experience there hell. I have a written statement from a Term 5 student that she told my peers that I am "no good" and "a spoiled brat" and she also made false allegations against me that I work in the "adult entertainment industry"... this is a 60 year old woman... so just keep that in mind! If you're considering enrolling here, first of all don't. But if you insist, be prepared to ask lots of questions, practically be begging for clarification on the grading policies, and be prepared to be treated like a prisoner of war, not someone who aims to better themselves. Apparently surviving the RT program requires learning 2 things... how to manage a ventilator and how to manage an administrative paper trail. You have been warned!

The essay is required to complete/pass the class. She refused to grade my essay regardless of the fact that I followed the rubric, and had citations from the required and scholarly sources directly supporting my thesis. She refused to grade my essay because she personally disagreed with my thesis. Please DO NOT waste your time with this college unless your goal is to become a cosmetologist or hair stylist. The classes are not tranferable to an accredited community, or state college, and are certainly not transferable to a UC.
