The idea was (and is) bringing community together through art and gardening. Octavia (the octopus) is loved by kids and adults alike. There's a little free library onsite too. This is a fantastic community urban garden growing veg to share with neighbors. It's also off the beaten path and mainly known to neighborhood folks. For $30 a growing season you get a  20'x20 plot. There's a tool shed with shared tools, and rain barrels. This is a great way to meet people in the neighborhood and also raise home grown vegetables. There are fences around the garden that mostly keep the deer out, but there are definitely rabbits in the garden, so most people put up some fencing.

I found this tiny park by accident and couldn't have been more smitten! Way to surprise me,…read moreCuyahoga Falls. This is a small garden with a covered rotunda and 1 stone picnic table. Pollinators (bees, butterflies, moths, etc) are an essential part of the ecosystem. They allow native plants to survive and are important in food crop production. To help fight the decline in pollinators, Cuyahoga Falls planted this butterfly garden at the entrance of High Bridge Glens Park. It has a cute, butterfly themed rod iron entryway. Again, this garden is small, but if you catch it in bloom, I imagine it's magical. I did spot a baby monarch and that made me so happy! I loved the two signs on the property explaining what types of butterflies and flowers you might see. This would be a wonderful place to bring kids and help instill an appreciation for protecting nature. However, because this spot is small, keep that in mind during the pandemic, as it's not a space I'd care to share with anyone at all. I want to live in a world where our pollinators, particularly bees and butterflies, aren't at such a high risk of extinction. Great job to the City of Cuyahoga Falls!

Perhaps my sheltered existence in the NPW did me dirty because as soon as the sun went down, and the night sky appeared so did the bugs. It wasn't just one bug but an army of persistent bugs that were not friendly at all. They had one goal in their hive mind, ATTACK!!!! While I can't blame the park for the bugs per se, I wanted to leave the park ASAP before my arms were devoured.
