Lawrenceville is so hip these days!…read more I stopped in here with my mom and marveled at all of the neat 3-D art on display. Then I ran across a gorgeous mosaic by Rachel Sagers and snatched it right up! The woman who helped me with my purchase was friendly and made sure that my art was carefully wrapped and ready for transit. The feel in the gallery is spacious and welcoming, and the art was so unlike other things I've seen. Some items are pretty pricey but it's great to browse. I would come here again for sure.

These exhibits will rotate from local up and comers to established artists for many years. Beyond the gallery this is a phenomenal place for all of your framing needs. As my wife and I travel to various destinations local art is our souvenir of choice with our walls in our house telling a story of our adventures. Joy does an incredible job understanding our style and willingly accepting any challenge we throw at her. We have now had close to 20 pieces framed with little direction other than big picture vision. She has never failed to delight us!! Lastly, Joy the owner is reason enough to visit. She is a wonderful and welcoming host that could gladly have you extend your planned 10 minute visit to over an hour. The conversation and friendliness are always a highlight. Why are you still reading my review? Go visit Joy!!

However it was on our Pittsburgh Coffee Passport and so my wife and I headed over. The inside of it is quite an interesting place. It has a floor made of pennies, a brick wall and an intricately decorated ceiling. I am pretty sure they are a coffee shop, tattoo parlor and art gallery all in one. So that means that there is art and t shirts hanging up all over the place. For our coffee on this day both my wife and I both ordered cappuccino. They came out with swan decorations in the foam with spoons made to look like skulls. The flavor of the coffee here was good too. My first sip was a little bitter but it quickly smoothed out the more of it that I drank and I enjoyed it. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Artisan is definitely a hipster place but they have some good coffee for reasonable prices.

The barista steeped the tea for me and brought out a really cool tea pot and mug for me to use. For my group, we were able to push together tables to sit near each other. There were outlets near the tables which was convenient for our laptops. The general volume was quiet as most people were doing independent work on their laptops or sketching art. It's really hipster inside based on the outside art, inside art, and clientele. I would go again if I'm in the area or need to meet a group in a quiet place bear garfield.

There was a sign on the corner of Butler and 43rd indicating a cookie stop was down this street. Am I ever glad I followed the sign; otherwise, I would have remained on the main drag of Butler and never ventured into this lovely oasis. It's in an old house that is charming in itself. You make your way from room to room on the first floor. The day we were here, there were books in the front with the author present to sign them (gift number one), hand knit scarves next in line with the maker present (gifts number two and three), handmade earrings further back (gift number four), and artwork hung on the walls in the hallway. Everywhere I turned there were eye-catching handmade pieces. Definitely on my list to re-visit for those one-of-a kind locally made items.

You wont find this place unless you see their sandwich board situated on Butler Street. It's tucked away on 43rd Street and looks exactly like the rest of the houses on that block. Inside you'll find a variety of local art including paintings, pottery and jewelry. I'm not much of an art buyer and, while I really like their stuff, I simply can't afford it. However, their jewelry is priced low enough that my mom can indulge every once in a while. If you're into locally made, handcrafted art, it's definitely worth a look. The place is rather inconspicuous on the outside but on the inside it's a beautiful Victorian era house brimming with local art and behind the counter is a very nice lady that'll answer any questions you might have.
