Have you ever needed a tow in a parking garage? Apparently, most tow companies now have only flatbed trucks that can't negotiate the turns in a parking garage, so getting towed out of one is a huge ordeal. I had a dead battery that hospital security wasn't able to jump, so I asked State Farm to send a tow truck in case the battery wasn't the problem. They connected me with two companies that declined because they only had flatbeds. I found Rudy Smith on my own, referred by two other companies I called. They only have one smaller truck, but Timothy came to my house, picked me up and took me to my car within half an hour of my call. Turns out, all I needed was a jump with good equipment by someone who knew what he was doing, so the truck wasn't necessary. But he was so nice and reassuring, it was a pleasure to do business with him. If I ever need a tow again, I'll just call them again and turn the receipt in to the insurance company myself. read more

I drove 1hr and 30 mins from work to pick up my sisters car just for these mfks to tell me I gotta get cash and they close the doors @5 pm now mind you the website says 24hrs !!! So I made it there 4:48 and rushed to the atm , made it back @5pm I didn't get all the money out the atm because I was trying to hurry and make it back and I didn't realize I didn't get everything . Then the mf act like he couldn't take the rest zelle , cash app , or tap pay when they had a whole tap machine. These people are really pathetic over 27 dollars a day . We drove to New Orleans from South Carolina for a 5-day stay, arriving late Friday afternoon, Nov 24. Upon arrival at our hotel, we unloaded our luggage. We had temporarily parked on the sidewalk because Gravier St. was full of traffic. When we came back to move the car to a parking garage, the car would not start at all. With a car parked on the sidewalk, we knew we had to take some fast action.But without knowledge of the town, we did not know who to call for help. We did not know who we could trust. We found Rudy Smith towing company on the internet; ratings were positive. I called a dispatcher and from that point on, the driver, Timothy, called me to report his progress. At several junctures he wanted to turn around. The traffic was horrendous and he feared that he would not be able to park his truck to set up for the tow. I pleaded with him and encouraged him; he did not give up. He was very courteous and professional when he arrived. He helped me understand what he would do with my car & keys once he got it to Honda. My vehicle was stolen and Rudy Smith picked it up in the month of August but did not report it to the police that they had it in there lot untill 4 months later, now after a call from New Orleans police department that Rudy Smith has it on there lot since December 12th, he wants me to pay him almost 4 thousand dollars to get it back ,he told me he sent 2 letters to me but then he told the police he sented several letters ,I never received any letter and when I talked to him about the letters he said he sent he laughed and told me to prove he didn't send any letter. From the reviews I read this is not his first time of foul play he seems to be better at scams then towing, I'm trying to get him in court to get my vehicle back with just towing fees not storage fees because he didn't contact anybody untill 4 months after he towed it. read more

This has been E's go to tow truck company since the 80s (when he drove a 50s vintage car that needed a lot of towing). This morning they responded promptly to our houseguest who's car decided to give up the ghost last night. The dispatcher was a bit confused, but the driver arrived promptly (within 20 minutes of the call). And was courteous. Not sure if they take plastic or not. This place was recommended to me by a trusted repair shop so I went with them. The gentleman who answered the phone was polite and professional. He got all the info and gave me the ETA. Sure enough, the driver pulls up right on time. The driver did his job well, but was rather deficient on courtesy and customer service. When my car went on the fritz, I found there weren't ANY towing companies in NOLA with good (or at least mediocre) reviews. I'm happy to say that my experience with Rudy Smith went fine, the service was friendly and they managed to drag my car out to Kenner without running into poles or brick walls (which, if you google a little, appears to be a bigger problem than you'd expect). They are a little slow to get there (they quoted me 45 min and it took almost an hour an a half) but I've come to expect that in this city. FWIW, my roommate had also had his car towed by them a couple times with a similar experience. He recommends you don't request service using their online form...they apparently don't know how to use it, so they will just end up calling you anyway. read more

Great service! Called them at 5:30 pm to come uptown and when the dispatcher said they'd have someone right out, I figured it would take a while with traffic. He was there in 20 minutes tops! When we found ourselves stranded outside the Prytania Theatre on a Friday night, flat tire from your standard grade/bottomless NOLA pothole and jack that had just fallen into a storm drain, Timothy from Rudy's came to the rescue in a big way. We'd called around to several supposedly 24/7 tow companies only to be given the runaround by every single one until them. They showed up pretty quick and had us back on the road in no time. He didn't just put the spare on for us with his gear but filled it with air and told us where to go for repair to the original tire in the AM - all the while being incredibly pleasant. Rudy has old fashioned service values which are rare. He towed us to a mechanic he said was good and they were economical and reliable as well. Another time he just troubleshot our problem over the phone, and saved us a towing charge. We now have a new car, so hopefully we won't need him as often, but highly recommend. read more

It's never a good situation when you need a tow truck, but these guys make it as pleasant as possible. The office staff are very polite, considerate, and helpful.
