After reading the generally bad reviews on Rudy's and hearing some other bad things about them via…read moreword-of-mouth, I was pleasantly surprised by their service. The staff at the desk were polite during both visits. They were FAST and I was able to pick up my two items at 3 pm the next day, even though I was an hour early. Although my clothes weren't particularly soiled when I brought them, I think they did an acceptable job of cleaning and pressing them, and the paper tags were stapled into the tags of the shirt and the dress, NOT the fabric itself! Hooray! The only negative comment I have is the expense. My rayon/nylon work dress cost almost $11 to clean, whereas it cost less than half that in a northern VA dry cleaner. The dress shirt was pretty standard cost, a little over $5. My friend graciously drove me to the store to drop off my clothes, but it turned out it was just as easy to take the UTS bus down JPA. Although I picked Rudy's because it was pretty convenient, I won't hesitate to go there again (provided there's good service in the future!) when I need to have clothes dry-cleaned in Charlottesville.

I was in Charlottesville attending training at FEI. This is the laundry service that FEI utilizes…read morefor their students. I sent out 4 shirts, 2 pair of slacks and one weeks worth of laundry. My bill was $60.00. On top of that, I did not get some of my dress socks back. I called Browns to inquire about my missing socks. No one answered but I got a message machine telling me to leave my name and number, which I did. After one week and no return call I called back and got the same answering machine. I left another message and as of this writing (2 weeks later) I still have not received a call. I have made the staff at FEI aware of this lousy service and advised them to contract with another company. For the record there is another laundry service further down the road from Browns (I think their name is Carriage cleaners) that I walked to during my stay there. I carried 2 weeks of laundry, 6 shirts, 3 slacks and my bill was around $35.00. And, they gave all my socks back.

The owners are never here, the same few machines have been broken for the past few months, the middle big washer has to be opened with a screwdriver, the water runs hotter than it should and the AC is never on. These are minor things that aren't that bad, and combined just become minor inconveniences. The icing on the cake though, was the amount of black mold I found in multiple washers today! BLACK MOLD!!! They are allowing people to wash their clothes in this! The staff told me "we can't do anything about it" as I STRUGGLED to find enough washers to get my clothes going. This is DISGUSTING and can make people SICK. Please share so that other people will know about this and not only avoid what I just went through (switching between multiple washers) but so they don't get sick from washing their clothes in this!
