Poor experience overall. I am 25 years old and have lots of bodily pain and despite communicating…read moremy issues I did not feel heard I did not feel cared for. I did not feel listened to. Dr. Chen spent 15 min with me and didn't even address any of my concerns. I mentioned I was having gut and stomach pain on a regular daily basis. She asked if I had been diagnosed with IBS. I said no. Rather than giving me steps to take to figure out what the problem is or how I could be diagnosed she just told me to avoid dairy. She did not ask and therefore did not learn that no matter what I eat afterward my stomach is always upset even if I avoid dairy. I mentioned I would like to see a gastroenterologist. I was told since I was not 45 years old a colonoscopy wasn't necessary which I assume just means it's not gonna be covered by insurance so she's not going to recommend it. I told her my pain had been going on for six years and yet no tests recommended to figure out the issue. Also, I mentioned I wanted to get off of a medication and wanted the liquid form because my research had said it's best to taper off very slowly. She just said "it doesn't work like that" and shrugged off that concern as well rather than giving me what I wanted and asked for... the whole reason I made the appointment was only to get my medication switched to liquid, which wasn't even achieved. So now I'm waiting for my expensive bill for receiving nothing. Not happy at all. I left my appointment very angry frankly. I don't want to come across as rude, but doctors need to do better. It just angers me that I am trying my best to take care of my own health and not receiving any help and despite knowing what I'm feeling every day somehow a Doctor Who has spent 30 minutes with me in total over the past year, think she knows what's best for me, which is to do nothing. Why are doctors telling us what we can and can't do for our own health if we have the money to pay for it. Blows my mind. Again, I hate to be so negative, but I feel I need to speak up for so many people who feel their concerns are ignored and unimportant. I wrote this not only to get out my own feelings, but to hopefully help others avoid the same experience I had.

Dr. Chen is one of the best doctors I've ever had. She took the most detailed medical history I've…read moreever had anyone take. (I'm retired military and have a ton of physicals. None were as thorough as this one.) She is always polite and professional. She has a talent for putting you at ease even when there may be something serious at work. I've been a patient for years and she doesn't hesitate to chase down problems and refer you to a specialist when needed. She has recently closed her practice. I hope she comes back soon.

I'm 71 years old and suffer from extreme high blood pressure and chronic pain. The first doctor…read morethat was able to get my blood pressure under control was Cort Thompson physician assistant, I could tell he really cares. After just two months of adjusting different medication, my blood pressure went down to normal. 12 years I have suffered with that high blood pressure numerous doctors never getting it under control. As far as I'm concerned, Pismo family practice gets a 10 for quality of care . Everybody in the office is wonderful and very respectful. I'm relocating out of state and will truly miss my treatment from Pismo family practice and of course Cort he's the best!

I've waited years to post this review. It has been so bad for so long but I kept holding out hope…read morethings would improve. The incompetence and lack of professionalism is unreal. 1. Doctors won't even entertain certain medications unless their office is getting a kick back. For example, I went in to talk to the PA about a GLP1. He immediately said he could not prescribe one because their office offers their own form of "weight loss" treatment (not a medication but some sort of body sculpting/fat reduction). It seems unethical to me to refuse treatment just so you can line your pockets with your in-house treatment. 2. This same PA (luckily he's not there anymore) also had no idea how to manage medications. If something didn't work he wouldn't stop that one and try a different one, he'd just keep wanting to pile on more and more medication. Again, kick backs?? 3. The turnover rate at their office is crazy. I go in 1-2 times per year and there is new office staff and new doctors every time. 4. And good luck getting in to see the primary doctor Wendy Weiss...she'll only see certain patients for certain procedures. 5. Speaking of the office staff and nursing staff. This is where I've really tried to be patient because I know their jobs can be hard. But they are so rude and seem to lack basic common sense. Each year I do basic labs and each year, they struggle to send the order. They say they send it and when I arrive at the lab, they never received it. 6. Same with prescriptions. Each year they have to send a new script to my pharmacy and each year they say they've sent it but I have to call 3-4 times before it's actually done. If I could easily get in to a new doctor, I'd leave so fast. But most primary's are not taking new patients. I've even considered the boutique doctor option thinking the price has to be worth eliminating this headache of an office from my life. Be careful. While the new PA is lovely (she replaced the really bad one), I'm not sure it's worth it in the end.
