Never received the door entry code and despite several unanswered phone calls and voicemails to the owners could not get in upon our arrival. Tried to access via front door but unable to enter. Ended up going to the Best Western Isanti (highly recommend) nearby. Owner says an email with the door code was sent in advance, but we never received the email and there was no extra confirmation from the owners to make sure we would be able to get in after hours. A follow-up email, text, phone call, or voicemail with entry instructions would have been appreciated given they knew we'd be in late. Decided to come back for our second night, and arrived to a room FULL OF BUGS. Owner apologized and tried to clean them up but they were everywhere and on and near the bed, so we decided to leave immediately. For pre-paying $275 for both nights the owners refunded only $200. Ridiculous given we could not enter the first night and had to pay for a hotel room and the room was infested with bugs.

The house layout was great for a medium-ish groups: two bedrooms on the main floor, a loft with a couch (and room for an air mattress), and two bedrooms downstairs. We had a group of 12, which I'd say is probably the max, a few people ended up sleeping on couches and I'm not sure how comfortable they were. The indoor pool was such a highlight! We spent most of our time there. It's heated, has Bluetooth speakers for music, and even a projector (though we didn't end up using it). There were plenty of floaties, and it was a great space to relax and hang out as a group. The pool could have been just a bit warmer, but we went in the spring when it was still a little chilly outside--I imagine it's perfect in the summer when the sun warms the space more naturally. Parking was super easy. All 12 of our cars fit in the driveway with no issues, and the house was easy to find. A few small cons: * Since we visited in spring, I'm not sure the place had gotten its full seasonal cleaning yet, some of the windowsills and the area outside were pretty dirty. * The fridge was a bit small for a group of our size. Definitely bring extra coolers, especially if you're stocking up on drinks. * There's no recycling available. We ended up bringing all our recycling home because we didn't want to throw it in the trash.

So I look forward to the hassle of changing all my bill accounts to a different card. They refunded the charge but only after I told them I am going to report the charge as fraud. This hotel was dirty. And we paid for a kitchen, brought food to cook and all pans and cook utensils were unsafe to use with so much burnt food(?) on them that they were unsafe to use. My husband handles commercial kitchens and ServSafe in the West Central region of MN and will be contacting his connection at the local health department. There also was mold on the shower curtain. The only vent in the bathroom pushes air into the shower, so do not have the AC on when you want to shower. I have pictures to support my claims. When we asked the front desk for different pans his response at 11pm was that housekeeping would bring us pans in the morning. We also did not have forks or spoons. The front desk just kept repeating that housekeeping would bring forks and spoons in the morning. So they frauded us and we couldn't use the kitchen in our room the night of our stay. And there were no clean pans, spoons or forks from housekeeping the next morning. Why would you pay extra for room with a kitchen when you don't have any utensils or pans to use in the kitchen? The microwave had no lights. I guess we were lucky that the Refrigerator worked, even though it also had mold in the drawer. 0/10 would not recommend and am reporting the fraudulent unauthorized charge on our card.

I seems like the city of St. Cloud has little or nothing to offer from a cultural perspective, but Helen and Jim certainly worked hard to make me feel welcome. Breakfast was plentiful though more selections would have been nice- I don't do sweets, so the crepes and pancakes option sounds about as appealing to me as chewing rock candy. So instead, they made their second option, an omelet both days with fresh fruit and the BEST homemade plain popovers. I love coffee and tea so much that I often bring my own tea bags. I used them on this trip too because Folgers was their coffee of choice. Also, I am used to a hot tub being a somewhat standard feature. Although the rooms had private baths, both had a smaller shower/tub. One room had a plug in portable fireplace that might have been nice in the winter. The room I chose had a very large and comfortable king-size bed with a walk-out garden balcony that was absolutely stunning! I don't know how they keep the flora and fauna around their property so lovely, but it must be a full time job.
