LIKE MAYBE THE WORST I'VE EVER DEALT WITH AT ANY RESTAURANT IN AMERICA (and I've eaten all over the country, nearly in every single state). I average maybe 1-2 hours wait time on my wings every-single-time I come. EVERY SINGLE TIME! Sometimes you sit down and staff won't even come greet your table. The owner just doesn't give a damn. We ordered the 4 pc wing meal in Spicy Garlic dry rub and crispy chicken sandwich for dinner. The sandwich was delish. Server suggested dipping it in their signature Dirty Rub and added cheese and bacon. The wings were meaty and adequately covered in the dry rub. There was some kick to it, but I didn't get too much garlic flavor--I should've stuck with the Dirty Rub. They didn't write down the order, so that's probably why they got it wrong. When I think about how amazing this place was when it had just started out as a little carry-out shop on Prospect to where it is now, I could just cry. I got my last order of carry out from this downtown location (and only location despite what the website says) when I took $50 of the teeniest, tiniest wings to a party and unveiled them as if they were going to impress. I think I heard laughter in the background. These are like some Cornish hen wings, one bite and the bone is clean. The location itself is a carry-out joint masquerading as a bar. There is no draft beer. At a wing restaurant. I didn't even know that was allowed?? I ordered a Michelob Ultra and was told they don't carry that. Not sure what they do carry as everyone else there was just waiting for their carryout orders. The wait was what we expected but even though we had a server and were seated at a table, I had to go up the register at the bar to pay. That is a little unusual as well for a sit-down restaurant. Let me preface. The food was amazing, one of the best burgers I've ever had. However, it could have just tasted amazing because we waited over 1.5 hours for our food when they told us it would be no more 40min (in an empty house). When we first arrived we weren't even greeted for the first 20 minutes (so almost an entire 2 hour total wait for food) and our waitress left twice during our order. Probably why not only was our ticket lost, order wrong one time, but our order was wrong TWICE! How many times were we approached during all of this? Twice, once to say sorry for the late order and a second for a refill. For the 2.5 hours we were there we were given one single refill. We were told we were going to be discounted for our time, we weren't. We actually were charged an extra 0.75 for some random sauce charge that we did not ask for. We had to ask to have our said discount implemented. I would recommend either preordering the food or just finding another restaurant all together. read more

I waited a little longer than expected but was greeted by the owner and asked if I wanted a refund and wait on the food. Wings are 5 star hands down the best! Management and customer service a big fat 0! I'm mostly a carryout customer and the only option is online ordering. The website has failed me multiple times in multiple ways and when there's an issue I try to call about, the phone does not get answered. Therefore, when i have an issue this means i have to rush downtown find a parking spot and go in to resolve my issue before a mistake is made. I'm told they DONT take orders thru the phone, which also means they DONT take ANY calls, even for customer service. The manager is never apologetic and never compensates me for my troubles in any way. I've honestly had issues at least 50% of the time. Many of my issue could have been solved with a simple phone call. My experiences have definitely caused me to choose other dining options multiple times. It a classic case of poor management. You may know how to make awesome wings but you have no idea how to run a business. Its unfortunate. read more

OK. I Stepped out intending to go a couple other places. I was hesitant regarding this place, as it gets some lukewarm and some outright bad reviews. I don't know if others hit a bad night and I hit a good one. There were 6-10 tables occupied. The servers were very friendly and service was quick and great. I ordered a double cheese burger. Big mistake. It is hugenormous. Each patty is at least a half pound. It was delicious. The tomato and condiments very fresh. Two cheeses both wonderful. An excellent burger. The butter bun also was superb. The food came quickly and was piping hot. The burger was juicy and the fries were crispy and the seasoning excellent. I ordered sweet tea which was delicious. The prices are reasonable too. I definitely will return and try the wings and other sides. I only can speak for my experience which couldn't have been better! read more

Do NOT under any circumstances go to this restaurant. I was at the Marriott for a conference and had eaten here with my girlfriend in mid April. I was charged $110 for what I had purchased which was only $30 including the generous tip. I disputed the additional $80 with capital one. Afterwards, I got in touch with rumbergers and they said they would give me a refund 4 months ago and never did. I now regret even using capital one because I need documentation to prove my wings and fries were only $30 and not $110 in order for the bank to even give me my money back. Never would have this issue with Wells Fargo. Management with this restaurant definitely lacks any integrity. Completely disappointing experience. For me, don't eat here. Horrible service! Stopped in here before a show at the Civic Center. The restaurant was fairly empty. We told our waitress that we had to leave in 45 minutes to make our show. She said no problem, so we ordered immediately. No food coming, so we asked 3 times, and were told it "would be right out". The food finally came after 46 minutes (right before we were ready to just leave). Waitress brought to-go boxes which we couldn't use because we were going straight to the show. Let me start off by saying that this place has THE BEST wings in Peoria hands down. That being said, if you walk in off the street to this establishment, be prepared for possibly very long wait times and spotty service. The food is prepared fresh and made to order, but service can be hit or miss and you could be waiting over an hour for your food. I would recommend patronizing this business through their website and placing a carry out order, which greatly minimizes the wait time issue and eliminates the spotty service when dining in. The food was good but I feel our waitress was not. When we first got to the restaurant it took a while for someone to acknowledge us. There were only two other dinners in the restaurant on a friday night. Once we were finally seated, our waitress brought us water and knocked over two of them, getting me wet. We switched tables. A couple of the people in our party had questions about the menu and our waitress was very short with us. Once we got our food it was great! We got the rum rub, buffalo ranch, mild, and garlic Parmesan wings, fries, rum buns, and fried mac and cheese. Everything was great! I only have had orders to go, I phone in my orders and the staff have been pleasant and helpful with suggestions when I ask for some. When I arrive my order has always been ready and there is little to no waiting. The fries are crispy and cooked just right, wings are the best I have ever had. Nice crisply cooked then coated with sauce. One issue is the wings are much smaller now than they were before. I have had other friends state that if you go into the business to order it takes a lot more time before your order is ready. One star is a stretch. For starters, the smell of mildew walking in the door is a turn off. Even though the staff to patron ratio was 1:1, the waitress giving you a "minute" to look at the menu means 10 minutes. The water tasted as if they were refilling the pitchers out of the toilets. In Peoria to visit our daughter and tonight was my first experience with Rumberger's. We visited their downtown location. I ordered a grilled chicken salad and it was the absolute WORSE salad I've ever eaten. When the salad arrives I immediately noticed the lettuce was wilted and not fresh. I attributed it to the warm grilled chicken being placed on top of the lettuce. After a couple of bites what became most noticeable was the amount of onions in the salad. This was in addition to the 3 rings that were on top of the salad. After a couple of more bites the onions became too much. I then began to look for parts of the salad that did not contain onions. What resulted in the excessive amount of diced onions in the salad. This was in addition to the 3 rings that were removed from on top of the salad before I began eating it. I did show the waitress and voice my concern. Her only response was she would let the kitchen know. When she brought the check to our table she even commented she could smell the excessive amount of onions. Nothing was done to rectify the situation. From the picture you can see the amount of onions I picked out of the salad after I had realized just how horrible this salad was. You can see them piled up on the right side of the serving dish.
