There are vintage/collectables stores and there are VINTAGE/COLLECTABLES STORES. Rummage Around is the latter. I mean, you put an antique/collectables store in the greatest depths of Seattle's living antique, Pike Place Market, wonderful things are bound to happen. Rummage Around is the ultimate treasure trove of treasure troves, basement of baubles, church of tchotchkes, Valhalla of VHS, academy of action figures, den of doo-dads, nave of knick-knacks. Where do I start? There are boxes and bookshelves stacked with records and tapes. They have shelves of DVDs ... and what could be best described as a WALL of $1 VHS tapes and another wall of $5 blu-rays. There are dolls, from the creepy-eyed old-school Chucky predecessors to those that a child would love. There are also old record players, videotape machines, DVD and blu-ray players, stereo systems and the rest. There are also plenty moth and mildew stank-free coats and other clothing items. There are bags and toys and cameras and old magazine and a million other things in this aptly self-proclaimed "Everything Store." And, if you're a sports fan, Rummage Around is a must-visit ... they've got a mishmash of Seattle mementos (including TEARS ... Sonics stuff), footballs, basketballs, hats, shirts, figurines, and the rest. They literally tell you what they want to do in their store. I like the hunt of rummaging around somewhere searching for soon-to-be-loved treasures, and this is a great place to do just that because it really isn't organized and requires you to hunt through. The selection is limited because the space is small, and thus the shelves are stacked to the roof. There really is a random selection of items here, as well. You'll find books, clothes, knick knacks, dishes, and many other items. I'm not sure how often they add to the collection here, since I've only been once. I did notice that some things were priced, and some things weren't. As someone who gets anxious speaking about prices, this made me pass over those items. THE VERDICT: Overall, I think this is a cluttered space that is worth a look if you're looking for an interesting gift or item for yourself. Also, I should also mention that I love cluttered spaces, so the disorganization didn't disturb me. I wish I had been able to spend a bit more time to really hunt through things, but that just means I'll have to make my way back here at some point. read more

A really fun and cool place to rummage around in when you visit Pike Place. The unorganized nature of the place makes the hunt for your special treasure even more rewarding. The guy that owns the place is really cool and helpful. Been here few times and there's always new stuff to see. It's a shame the place is so tight and small, cause you sometimes have to maneuver around people. read more

I think one of the other reviewers mistakenly reviewed this place instead of another. This shop is ANYTHING but organised or neat. It is very similar to a hoarder's home. It's actually scary how cramped and filled with teetering junk this place is. Two people can barely squeeze past each other in the tiny aisles between mounds of overpriced garbage. I shudder to imagine what would happen if a fire broke out in here. If you want to feel like you're suffocating in a landfill, visit this place. I love thrift stores and I was very disappointed. Would probably be significantly better if there was enough space to move inside the shop without feeling like you're going to knock a pile of junk onto yourself or someone else. I've been there twice on recent visits to Seattle and I'll probably go back on my next visit. Both times I was there, I found odd Rubik's Cubes. I collect them and got each for only $2. There's plenty of interesting things to find for collectors of just about anything. My only complaint is that everything is very unorganized and the aisles are thin and crowded. It's hard to navigate through the whole store without bumping into people. read more

Best place at the Market, will take you back to the era before tourism, when the Market was there for the common working stiff... Where you can find affordable treasures (and some trash) that remind you of your good old days, grandma, or your secret scruffy desires. An eclectic collection of cool, used stuff at rock bottom prices. While fish are being tossed about upstairs, it was fun fishing around the shelves, tables and bins. I bought three large used umbrellas for $5 - just in time to avoid the rain. I will definitely be back. read more
