I have always had a crush on the creatives of this world, for their ability to see things that, while I can appreciate and be inspired by, I could not put together myself. Its a intangible talent to make beauty tangible. To create and transform a space. You walk in here, and everything is unique, and its placed in such a way that makes you see an already one-of-a-kind item, differently. Its not just a furniture store for the reclaimed and upcycled, Kirk Albert has some really almost revolutionary transformations going on, like turning a vintage bowling alley into a long, gorgeous communal table by adding enormous, industrial-type legs. Turning old reclaimed wood into a one of a kind console by by breathing new life into it with a balanced set of Frankenstein shop legs. He incorporates found items like a giant ten foot long hanging hammer (take that, boring home office!) to a humorously disturbing John Basquiat meets Frances Bacon framed 3-D tormented man, to possibly hang over your VIctorian fireplace. This shop is very expensive, no doubt about it. Its not for everyone. I mean when have you ever struck out to shop for a six foot tall, black, turn of the century Moose Lodge sign? I've purchased some great pieces in Chidori Antiques, and the owner, Daniel Stalcup, is one of my all-time favorite dealers. He is everything I look for in an antiques dealer - honest, knowledgeable, friendly, negotiable, fair, and not at all pushy at any time. His prices are quite reasonable for the high quality pieces that he has in the shop. This is not some business in which new, imported merchandise is being sold as authentic old pieces - these are the real things, always obtained from totally genuine sources, and at very fair prices for this level of quality. He always willingly shares a wealth of information about individual pieces that he has gathered through much study and experience. When he doesn't know something about a piece, he freely admits it, and then finds a way to try to get whatever info is requested or needed. Just looking around the shop tells you what a great eye he has for assembling so many stunning pieces from so many diverse cultures. This is a beautifully presented selection of fascinating olde-tyme curios in an updated, totally pleasing atmosphere. What more could any collector ask for?

The careful presentation of jewelry and fine items are close to the cash register for easy check out. The sales are always full and offer fine items. The items are priced competitively for their worth. Whenever there is a Donnelly and Donnelly sale, I am there! I know its going to be great!

I may have misread the terms, but I still don't agree…read morewith rewarding those who go around disturbing neighbors to find a sale before you publicize the address.*** They get two stars for organizing a large estate sale - but minus 3 for not administering a list, even stating they won't use a list (in their ad) - but then they used a list!! Many (15+) people "found" the address of this sale the NIGHT before and signed up before the address was released to the public. At least 15 names were on the list by the time anyone arrived at 6 am (when the address was released). Then when they opened the door for the sale they picked up the unofficial (in my opinion illicit) list and began calling names from it. This being the list that started before the public was even given the address. I'll let you draw your own conclusions about why this would happen but none of the conclusions bode well for Donnelly in my mind.

This store is located in the heart of Ballard on Leary Ave. There is a dedicated parking lot, however I chose street parking. Their showroom features vintage, mid-century modern, and high-end furnitures. They also have a decent amount of rugs, wall accents, room dividers, and paintings, and even cocktail sets. The prices are quite reasonable and they have measuring tapes available. If shipping is an issue, they also offer delivery through Uff Da Logistics for a fee. I in search for a record stand, however didn't exactly find one that fit my style. I did score on an antique chess set with case. The staff was very friendly and even offered to open other display cases so I can take a look at other items. I'll definitely revisit this shop and see if there are any other items worth taking home.

Sadly, there is only one and it is very old(but extremely accurate). So let me tell you about my experience when I visited, I was greeted by a lovely man who offered us some hot tea and biscuits. He was probably the best part of my experience, he was friendly and it seemed like I've known him for years. He was very funny and showed us unique antiques through out the shop. He let me try on a fur coat and jewelry which led to many compliments. And for the store, it was the cutest antique store I've ever been in. When I go back, I am definitely visiting them again!!!
