I got married on Sept. 28 and Amir did an amazing job with my hair! When I was searching for a hair stylist in Gualala, CA, I was quite limited in the individuals willing to do wedding hair. A few were unavailable but most were not doing wedding hair any more for one reason or another. When I called Rumors, Amir picked up the phone and immediately said he would love to do my hair for my wedding. Off to a great start! We visited Amir about a month prior to the wedding to do a trial run. I showed him some of my ideas and he expressed it would be super easy to do. He also suggested doing some highlights to make my hair look "sun kissed" which we ended up spending most of the trial doing. They turned out great! Later, when I told him my hair was feeling dry due to the highlights, he gave me specialized shampoo and conditioner to help heal my hair as a wedding present. So kind and generous! The day of the wedding comes and he shows up ready to get to work. He was fun and expressive when he worked on 2 of my bridesmaids and myself. He worked with each of our needs and types of hair with ease and experience. My hair was incredible and exactly what I wanted, a messy, casual bun that had grace! Plus, now here's the best part, it was COMFORTABLE! He used a bunch of bobby-pins but it didn't hurt at all! Even after 8 hours of wedding and dancing and my hair felt amazing! I don't know how he did it but I was very impressed that he was able to make that type of up-do feel good. Amazing work! He was willing to drive to our hotel (St. Orres) as well as go to the venue to do my husband's hair. He even did a great job with my husband's hair and made him look so handsome! Thank you, Amir! We recently moved to the Mendonoma Coast and I have curly hair. In my 15 years in the SF Bay Area, I went to all the top/popular-on-IG curly stylists. The results were great (well, most of the time), but I was so tired of the whole production: scheduling FAR in advance; $140+ for a trim; sitting still for ages as each individual curl was dry cut; shampoo and style no longer included at some places; etc. I figured I'd try someone local and am SO GLAD I did. For half the price I used to pay, I have a spectacular curly cut and get compliments ALL the time. I got exactly what I wanted, with a shampoo, in a straightforward, efficient manner. So relieved! Not only is she Sassoon trained but constantly goes back to continue her training and learns all the latest techniques and styles. She is innovative and a true artist. She will make you look your best and will leave wiht a style that is easy to manage on your own. Christina has been doing my hair for over 25 years...She's seen me through the hippie locks, fro, short, shorter, red, pink, oh just shave it off, and now- on our way to shoulder length blonde! Although I have mostly had my hair short, Christina was excited to explore this new idea...longer hair. Most people have a real challenge growing their hair out because that "in between stage" can be so unflattering. I say, they need to go to Rumors! Life saver!!! I was up in Gualala for one day, for a Sea Ranch wedding, and had a hair dilemma. My hair had been turned orange by another salon the day before, and during my 3.5 hour drive up to Gualala/Sea Ranch, nervously looking in my rear view mirror the entire time, I realized that I could not gracefully attend the wedding with this hideous hair color. (I had wanted a dark auburn, provided photos, etc, but the stylist at the other salon clearly did not deliver.) The wonderful women at Rumors took me in right away, the head stylist quickly determined how to fix the color, toning it down to exactly the color I had originally wanted. And the stylist that did the work on me was very warm and helpful and really saved the day. Two hours later, I was at the wedding with non-orange gorgeous hair. If Rumors was located within an HOUR of my home, I would continue to go there for sure. Customer service and the quality of work were top notch. read more

I have naturally red naturally curly hair. It has always been challenging for me to find a stylist who knows curly red hair well for good natural cuts and hair dying that doesn't look fake. My husband stumbled upon Rumors in Gualala, CA for a quick cut and discovered that Christine knew red hair very well through their discussion during his cut. So I decided to try Christine and she is truly amazing. She has such a passion for always learning and is a color specialist. Plus she knows curly hair very well. She is extremely experienced and her knowledge shows it. As I was starting to turn gray, which is even more tricky with coloring to red/auburn, Christina (hands-down) knew exactly what to do. I get compliments on my hair almost everywhere I go. The color looks so natural and the cuts she does really allows my curly hair to act as I want it to with very little time in daily styling. I have been visiting Gualala for the past six months, and found I was there just when I needed to get my roots colored. You know how trepidious we can feel going to an unknown salon conjuring up the worst case scenario. My first visit was with Christina, she not only matched my color but put a product on right after the color that prevents fading. It worked!!!! Nothing I've gotten in the SF Bay Area. I was so pleasantly surprised and went away a very happy customer. The second time Brenda colored my roots and evened out my long shag cut. she did an excellent job and followed through with exactly how much I wanted cut off and not a millimeter more. Again I went away a very happy customer. In fact, I will now time my visits to Gualala to be able to have my hair done at Rumors. Thank you both so much.
