Damien's the best stylist I've had and I've had a lot of stylists over the years. I'm so lucky to have found him in this small town of Gualala, CA. He and his wife, who own the inn where he has his salon, moved from Los Angeles a few years ago to run the Rendezvous B&B, a charming inn tucked in the redwoods about an hour south of Mendocino. We discussed a couple of approaches; he's easy to talk with. Damien did a cut and color--a platinum shade that was perfect for my skin tone. It didn't damage my hair, as some previous coloring has done. The shampoos and conditioners he uses are natural products. The salon ambience is so peaceful and soothing. You can choose the music or he can make suggestions. There's an assortment of beverages, from tea to wine. The first cut/color grew out gracefully, so it didn't look unkempt and shaggy before the next appointment. I just had my second appointment yesterday, and will keep returning. After several decades, having close to a dozen hair stylists shape and color my hair, Damien has done the best job. He possesses all of the most necessary traits and skills for a successful hair designer: his expertise (25+ yrs. ), his kind manner, his genuine interest in hearing exactly what it is you want to achieve and being able to offer suggestions, being certain that their is mutual agreement and then doing the style swiftly and carefully. The base color and weave he chose, based on what I expressed I was envisioning, taking into consideration the previous multiple tones I had, including grey (a complicated case in my humble opinion), yielded such a natural effect and the style was reshaped to complement the shape of my face better than it had been. He's a talented 3d artist, no doubt. And then there's all of the creature comforts of his salon! It's a beautifully designed space, filled with beautiful music, such comfortable seating, local art work, surrounded by their peaceful, glorious botanical gardens and forest above the Pacific and... a complimentary array of beverages, including espresso options. My hair cut speaks for itself. I get compliments all the time. Damian was very supportive as I transitioned to grey and to shorter hair. At 64, no more hair dye, I feel attractive again. Phew! Haha! The setting is gorgeous, salon comfortable and clean. He even remembers the music I listen to. Pink Martini was playing when I walked in for my second cut. My hair color and cut at The Salon at Rendezvous and was a wonderful experience! Damien co-owns the inn with his wife, and is the hair stylist. His coloring was beautiful and I could tell he had a lot of experience with both color and curly hair. The products he uses are environmentally friendly and free of harsh chemicals. There were beautiful gifts, including local beauty products and pottery, in the salon. It has the perfect amount of room for one customer at a time, with a beautiful view and redwood trees all around. There is complimentary Little Green Bean coffee as well. The lighting and decor is classy and relaxing to spend time in. I also loved the hair wash station- it was the most comfortable hair wash chair I had been in! He gave me a scalp massage while washing and I loved the peppermint scented shampoo. It can be tricky to cut curls, but I love the shape he gave me. I would highly recommend Damien at The Salon at Rendezvous! It was a fun several hours. read more
