The owner is exceptionally nice and fun to talk to. Now, the Cajun food....not gonna be your top notch traditional Cajun food. Gumbo needs more seasoning and better shrimp. Unfortunately, the seafood boils were very disappointing and fell far below expectations. The ingredients appeared low quality and were served lukewarm, which really impacted the experience. The crab legs were extremely difficult to crack, likely due to improper cooking and holding, making them nearly inedible. There was also a noticeable lack of seasoning across the boil no seasoning on the crab, crawfish, potatoes, or corn, and even the butter was unseasoned. I would also do away with oysters as they need to be extremely fresh to be served, and if we can't go above and beyond with fresh imports I don't see the point. On a positive note, the gator bites were excellent and absolutely deserve a permanent spot on the menu they were flavorful and clearly prepared with care. The Louisiana pan-fried special was also quite good. Unfortunately, the seafood boil alone was enough to keep us from returning unless significant improvements are made, this really shows the quality of the seafood and the integrity on this item isn't there with quality.

That personal connection aside, Crabby's delivers an experience that feels both elevated and welcoming. It does lean towards being a bit more expensive, but the quality of the food and the care in presentation make it worth the splurge. I ordered the gnocchi marsala with chicken, and it was nothing short of heavenly. Pillowy gnocchi paired with a rich, savory sauce that lingered beautifully. Mrs. K. chose the salmon pancetta, which arrived as a work of art on the plate, perfectly cooked and elegantly presented. She enjoyed it very much, savoring each bite. And of course, we couldn't resist ending the evening with a crème brûlée: creamy, infused with vanilla, and topped with that satisfying caramelized crust that cracks just right under the spoon. Crabby's is the kind of place where you go not just to eat, but to celebrate, to linger, and to enjoy the finer side of dining in Joplin. It's polished without being pretentious. Yet, Joplin has one of the best Mexican food restaurants I've ever eaten in. A mix of authentic and Tex-Mex. For example: steak is one of their specialties and is offered on many items. It's a thin steak but what a great flavor! Not dressed up with a bunch of condiments which let's that wonderful chargrilled flavor through. And they serve huge pieces. Then they have French fries with steak pieces {a lot!}, and dressed like all the way nachos. And they have a huge menu. Order a drink and read it through. If you're a chili relleno lover, don't leave without getting one. Authentic red chili sauce and a large amount of cheese in the middle. I don't want to skip further mention of the drinks. They are large and they are good! Unbelievably, they use fresh juices in their drinks. If you've never had a margarita with fresh fruit juice. these are out of this world good. But unlike most Mexican places, they also offer craft drinks (blackberry) and they too are huge and good . Beer of corse is plentiful. The variety, the music but especially the food elevate this restaurant to my highest recommended Mexican restaurant anywhere in the US. (The service is good but only if you get the guy that's always buzzing around or if you speak Spanish.. or take your translating earbuds ). I went back home last time dreaming of this place and couldn't wait to get there on this trip. And just a note: The Habaneros in the orange building on some busy street (sorry I'm a tourist) is not, I hear, owned by the same people. I don't know about the others. Final word: hurry to Habaneros on Main before someone steals their chef and their bartender, as is what usually happens to really good chefs and bartenders. They can make or break a restaurant, as I often state. Bon Appetito!

Our waiter gave us this card with his name on it so that we could do a review with the restaurant. He certainly deserves it.

The spinach artichoke dip came out and was very tasty so we had high hopes for our meals. When Kimmy brought the food out, she forgot my salad. No big deal, I simply asked her for it and she went back to get it. While she was gone, my husband looked down at his plate and realized she brought him chicken Parmesan, not the chicken rustica. We didn't have time to wait for another meal to be made for him, so we got her attention and let her know what had happened. She apologized and took it off the bill. We appreciated that, but we were frustrated because he didn't get to eat an entree. She put the credit card machine down on the table for us to pay. When my husband picked it up to leave the tip, it indicated that the machine had "timed out". We again, got Kimmy's attention and she said that it had already gone through with a tip. My husband explained that he didn't enter a tip and again, she said that was okay because it had already gone through (with the highest tip percentage selected). My husband told her that the experience didn't warrant the highest tip percentage in his opinion, but he was so frustrated that we just got up and left. Very disappointing to say the least.
