I ordered the gnocchi marsala with chicken, and it was nothing short of heavenly. Pillowy gnocchi paired with a rich, savory sauce that lingered beautifully. This is the last night on our epic road trip. This is the last dinner on the road. We stopped at crabby, seafood bar, and Grill in Joplin because we saw great things online. That is one of our issues though. Is the menu online is different Than the menu in the restaurant my wife had her heart set on duck, but there is no duck. She changed to the crab cake instead. The crabcakes were fairly large, and not overly bread. They were very good. I had the seafood medley, which was a great value for the price. The scallops were probably the best thing on the plate. They work perfectly. We started off the meal with Aji tuna nachos. that was the best bite of food tonight. They were delicious and we scarf them all down. If you are coming on a weekend evening, please make sure to call ahead for a reservation. We are very happy with the amount of parking. This place is an absolute hidden gem! The food was absolutely delicious and even as someone who doesn't enjoy vegetable, I didn't mind them one bit-so good. Our waiter was very nice and helpful and the food came out pretty quickly. The place itself is very pretty, the hanging lights are beautiful and the vibe is all around great. We've always talked about stopping into Crabby's but never did until yesterday. Decided to go for lunch and I must say we were not disappointed. Waiter/ bartender took our drink orders shortly after being seated and then highly recommended the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer. Oh man the dip was rich in flavor and oh so cheesy as well. The pita chips were just crunchy enough to spoon the dip onto but once you bit into them they were soft and garlicky. The spicy tai shrimp was more sweet than spicy but was seasoned really well and cooked to perfection with the peppers and zucchini. The size of the shrimp was huge. We also got the Crabby's seafood linguini. The parmesan cream sauce was tasty and the portions were enough for two meals. The shrimp wasn't over cooked and the bits of lobster and scallions were a nice addition. A little heavy on the spinach for my liking but overall it was a great dish. We've been regulars for a good decade. The past year or so the portions for dinner have gotten tiny and prices of fish dinners are around $40 plus. The food is so mediocre and the prices are so up and portion is way down. Also, the mixed cocktails are $14 and up! It's insane. It looks like a hole in a wall place. I wasn't aware of this place until it was recommended to me. When you walk in there are string lights hanging from the ceiling that creates a lovely ambiance. It's a great place for a date or a celebration. But you can totally come in casual attire. There is bar seating and a back room area to eat. The food is decently priced and all tastes great. My husband and I wanted to try a new place to eat, so we tried Crabby's. We did not have a reservation, so we ended up eating at the bar, which was fine with us. Tip: make a reservation if you want a table without having to wait. We didn't know this before we went. It's an adorable little hole-in-the-wall type restaurant with a little ambiance. There were twinkle lights hung throughout the restaurant, and it could be a romantic date night, but there were also people there in casual clothing. Logan was the bartender who also took our order since we were at the bar. He was friendly and knew a lot of the people who came in. At first glance, we weren't sure if the food would fill us up (but I think that's just because here in America we're expecting jumbo portions), but it did! Our server's recommendations were spot on, and we would definitely return to try other food selections if we get the chance to visit Joplin again. Started out with the crab spinach artichoke dip with homemade pita chips, which were deliciously addictive. The homemade rolls that came with our entrees were equally addictive. But hands down this was one of the best orange chicken I've ever eaten...crispy breaded chicken in citrus sauce that wasn't overwhelmingly tart. I love this place. Low light, just loud enough that you can have a conversation and not feel like everyone is listening to you, yet not so loud that you'd have to speak up. It's a little on the pricey side. The neighborhood seems a little sketch, but I've never had any problems there. The seafood chowder is amazing but it's not always available. read more

Good seafood each time we've come in, nice decor on the darker side, surprising loud for a Tuesday evening. Music could have been lowered by half. I had the seafood grill plate which included scallops, lobster, one strip, and a small piece of salmon. Salmon was slightly over cooked, while the scallops where just shy of being cooked correctly. Lobster was tasty and larger than I expected but also over cooked and rubbery. I had the soup while my wife had the salad. Everything was good, better than say a Red Lobster but not so good that it matches the price. Its the kind of place we will come 1-2 times a year but there are a few other places with better seafood in town. My French onion soup wasn't the best, definitely could've used more cheese but not bad, still finished it. Blackened Steak and Shrimp had great flavor, although I could've done without the sauce they put on the steak. I really enjoyed the rice that came with it. I would've loved more than 2 shrimp, but it was a lunch portion. The fish and chips were nice as well, breading was crispy and wasn't too thick. First off, we will dine here again, but we'll be reserving special occasions for the steakhouse. This is our second time eating here. This first time was five stars, easy. Food was cooked perfectly and service was great. So, we thought, what a great place to go on our ten-tear anniversary. Like our first time, we made a reservation for two. We were seated at a table despite requesting a booth. We requested a booth at the time of seating, but they said we had to sit at a table since the booths were not available. People were sitting at and being served at the booths, but half of them remained empty during our two hours there. So yeah a little frustrating, since it was our anniversary, we were on the fence about going somewhere else with a more private table. Not the biggest deal, but a disappointment. It was pretty obvious many of the booths were being seated as first come first serve, too. So yeah it's a little disrespectful to be blown off like that and not even given the option of the notice when making a reservation for a special occasion. Okay well we decide to make the best of it. We order the mussels as an appetizer and they are not good. Very stringy, almost meatless. We tried to eat a few but it was obvious they just were not fresh. Our server asked how they were, and we showed her. She understood--brought us new ones, and those were excellent. Plump, cooked well. Which just begs the question, why serve the first ones? Entrees were good. They cook scallops perfectly here, both times that we've been. Even fine restaurants screw scallops up. Hasn't happened to us here. I was pleasantly surprised to find a large serving of grilled salmon and asparagus atop delectable teens with a light dressing. Grilled wheat toast was a perfect accompaniment. All in all, I had the grilled salmon, asparagus, and salad I wanted but at half the price of ordering the salad as an entree with a small salad. Saturday night out while in town. This was my second trip to Crabby's. It was good enough the first time that I had to come back. This go was Seafood Linguine (hearty and a thick cream sauce), Thai Shrimp (big shrimp, hand breaded not that pre-battered frozen stuff) and Ahi Tuna (is Ahi ever bad?!). The food is some of the best that I have had. Seafood in Joplin, who would think it is this good and I used to live in Florida! I'm so sorry on how disappointed I was on last night's dinner. My favorite seafood restaurant in Joplin was a major letdown this time. Although the service was OK the food was a big disappointment. It started out when we got to the parking lot and it was full, and we were wondering whether we would even get to eat so we were happy to get a table. It had been a while since we've been here. The menu has been reduced and choices were limited. I was trying to decide between the scallops and jumbo shrimp or the special which was Chilean sea bass and jumbo shrimp with risotto. We were informed that they were out of scallops so the decision was to go with the special. The salad was ok but it came with two pieces of bread one for each of us that were the size of large croutons. It would have been better just not to bring out the bread. So that was the first sign of this was not gonna be a good meal. When the main dish came out, the special was the Seabass, which was the size of about a Oreo cookie and two very small shrimp. They certainly weren't jumbo shrimp. Well so much for my excitement of Chilean sea bass and jumbo shrimp. I wish I would've taken a picture because half the plate was empty and it was kind of weird. I wasn't sure what to do, but I didn't say anything because I did not want to upset the busy staff. We paid our $$$ bill gave a decent tip and left but my disappointment has been heavy on my mind. My husband and I have been here many times recently. We have decided to stop going here. We love sitting at the bar having nice conversations with other patrons and the bartenders. The drinks are interesting, unique and delicious. Our issue is the food quality doesn't justify the prices. My husband ordered steak and lobster. The bartender forgot to enter the lobster into the computer so it wasn't with his meal. When they brought it to him it was small (husband compared it to a frozen tail from Walmart) grey and under cooked. They took it back to the kitchen and put it on the grill which didn't help and he didn't eat it. They should have cooked him a new one. They did do the right thing and took it off the bill. We grew up with fresh seafood and fish in Southern California and realize getting good quality seafood in Joplin, MO is nearly impossible. read more
