I was really disappointed with many things, but the bartenders were great. Unfortunately, I chose a hotel nearby so I could eat here and watch the Bears game. Unfortunately, they need not have the Bears playing. I asked and I was told they don't usually have it playing. They changed it to an another tv, but I had to move to watch it. Then they didn't play the sound for the game nor had CC TV going. Honestly, I finished the pepperoni rolls, which had good flavor, and left after one drink. On 1/19/26 at the Joplin location, my partner was refused alcohol service despite being calm, seated, eating substantial food, drinking water between drinks, and showing no visible intoxication. Two bartenders refused service without explaining any observable behavior that justified it. Management later claimed the refusal was based on drink count(5 very watered down drinks) time spent at the establishment, (5 hours, that's one drink per hour), and bartender discretion." Even more troubling, management stated that military members are often given more leeway because they "can handle liquor better." This is an unacceptable and discriminatory standard that has nothing to do with responsible alcohol service. I was told later by management that Service was denied due to a perceived "slur," despite repeatedly explaining that my partner has a documented speech impediment. Being forced to publicly disclose a disability 3 times during a conversation then having it ignored-was invasive and demeaning. It was clear that the bartenders wanted to pack up and go home. I emailed ownership/management detailing the incident & have received no response, which is deeply disappointing and suggests no interest in correcting poor judgment or retraining staff. Responsible alcohol service is based on visible intoxication, not assumptions, stereotypes, disabilities, or profession-based favoritism. This experience was embarrassing, discriminatory, and completely avoidable. Still crazy that no one has contacted me back about this. We went here on a Monday night. Since we were staying in the adjacent hotel, we thought this would be an enjoyable and delicious meal. We were SADLY mistaken. One would think that good service would be a "given" since we were eating here on a NON-busy night. Instead, we sat in our booth for over 7 minutes before anyone even came to our table. Our waitress had a begrudging look on her face as if we had interrupted her gab session with the bartender....or her frequent walks towards and out the front door to obviously check her phone. When we asked for glasses of water, she snapped at us as she pointed out she had a WHOLE tray of glasses of waters to deliver to "others, first". FINALLY, we got our drink order in....after we were told that they don't have a blender in their bar to blend any kind of drink. While sitting at our table, we noticed an increasing number of gnats and fruit flies circling our drinks. This was disconcerting! So much so, we should've left, then and there. But, we had just driven 7 hours and were exhausted! So, we ordered our food. While my husband's calzone and my chicken pesto sandwich was good....all of the other negatives far outweighed the one positive. This is located near a bunch of hotels and is convenient to grab a late night drink. My siblings, bf and I walked in and were seated immediately. The temperature outside was nice but it was freezing inside. I was wishing I had brought a pullover to keep me warm. Our server was attentive and we each got several drinks. My last drink I got to to, was suppose to be a whiskey sour but was made with pineapple juice. My husband and I put in a long day in the car and were happy to see a restaurant at the La Quinta Inn we stayed at. We didn't want a lot, so only ordered salads, and didn't know until we were in our room eating that mine (Roasted Chicken & Apple Walnut - described in menu as Applewood chicken, bleu cheese crumbles, apples, walnuts, dried cranberries, creamy herb dressing) was missing some key ingredients: no walnuts and no dried cranberries. I will say they do have an impressive tap menu. As soon as The Hubs ordered, he realized a couple of things. First, it was 18% (YIKES)! Secondly, it was $15 for a pint. (GOOD GRIEF!!!). We waited on the beers and finally ordered food--two salads and a medium thick crust Chicago 7. We still waited on beverages. Finally, one of the managers delivered them. He didn't even know the names of the beers. And, to continue the $15 beer saga---it was the worst beer he ever had. That is saying a lot for him to declare that. The salads arrived and then almost immediately the pizza. Does anyone remember when Pizza Hut came out with their deep dish version? I think Pizza Hut had a better version. It totally tasted like a heat 'n eat and was not even as hot as it should have been. Maybe we were there on a off night. What do you do when you are driving and listening to your favorite NFL team and then run out of radio range? This time I used Yelp to find a Sports Bar! Yelp found me a winner in this establishment! The place was packed, NFL games galore on TVs everywhere, signs under TVs with the game schedule for that TV (way cool for the organized types) and people in many jerseys. The decor is perfect for a sports bar. All I paid attention to was the many screens! The hostess greeted us and I asked for a table with good viewing of the Cowboy - 'ants game. She quickly had us in front of the right game. Our server was swamped with too many tables of the starved guzzlers but was keeping us aware and apologizing as she carried beers and heavenly aroma food by us. That was a great marketing trick that worked on my nose, eyes and belly. I, too, was converted to a starved guzzler. To keep my doctor happy, I ordered a garden side salad with ranch. To satisfy me, the starved guzzler, I ordered the large Chicago 7 deep dish with the large Michelob. The beer and salad arrived in moments. Both were near freezing and tickled my belly. The salad was a perfect mix of fresh veggies and greens. It would make a nice bed for the tasty, tangy and perfectly prepared deep dish that arrived next. The pizza was made upside down with the thick chunky tomato sauce on top. No flavors were lost and this keeps the ingredients crispy. My team barely stomped the 'ants and it was time to hit the road. We went back because the manager called me and invited us back. I didn't mention that until we were almost finished eating because I don't want treated special treatment for a day. The only problem we had was that our waitress never got us plates/cheese/peppers for our pizza and my husband finally had to get up and ask for them and by that time our pizza was cold but I didn't complain about it, I figured she just got overwhelmed for a bit. Stopped in for dinner on our first night in town this past Thursday. Travis was our server and he was absolutely exceptional!! He greeted us immediately, helped us decide on drinks (we are picky drinkers) walked us through the menu and was beyond patient throughout all of our questions. Our drinks were delicious and the food was spot on. Also upon arrival the host was taking a to go order which seemed to be rather complicated. This place is super cute! We stayed in the La Quinta attached to the restaurant and it was super convenient to just walk into it from the lobby. We ordered a large classic thin crust pizza, the Philly cheesesteak rolls, the pretzels sticks, and a chicken calzone, and it was all SO GOOD. The service was really quick and polite. My only note would be that it was so warm out that the air conditioning was blasting and I feel like it actually made the food get cold quick. But besides that it was great. Stayed at La Quinta for a night on a road trip, needed to feed a family of different tastes late at night. They promoted room-service like delivery at the hotel, but when you call- they may not have enough staffing to deliver in a hotel that isn't very big. That was annoying but understandable. We were able to order to pickup ourselves. Most of my party ordered calzones, which were decent. Nothing exceptional but decent. I had the Apple walnut salad, which was nothing short of a bagged salad mix with fresh apples, cheese & nuts- it wasn't great but also not bad. The "herb dressing" is a basic Italian. Their service wasn't overly impressive. we were told utensils & condiments & cheese were with our food in the bag. But we weren't given any utensils or cheese & pepper. My husband and I visited yesterday for our first time after hearing so many good recommendations about the establishment. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple of cocktails and ordered some food from Maddie. The food was amazing but the drinks and bartender is where we started to have problems. The drinks just weren't to our standards which we were understanding about because she seemed new and probably needs more experience but what bothered my husband was when he overheard and informed me that the bartender was very loudly bragging to multiple servers about proud she was that she had pyschically attacked a young girl prior to being at work. The way they laughed and joked just shows very bad character for themselves and the establishment, even more so when customers can hear the conversations. We are counselors and therapists for children and young adult individuals and the conversations we overheard made us very uncomfortable. Food is great, but the negativity from the servers and bartender that day was awful and we won't be returning and will not recommend to any friends or family. We were tired after a long drive. As this is connected to the La Quinta and we had a small dog, we took advantage of proximity and ordered and we ate out in the lobby. The host was gracious, took our order and brought the food out to us. We shared a small original ale crust pizza and Caesar salad. Omg the pizza crust was delicious!! I regretted getting only a small pizza!!! Salad was fresh and tasty. Pizza was very tasty. Both were definitely small in size. My only negative is that the toppings were very sparse. We got pepperoni and mushrooms. There were a few pepperoni pieces and very little mushroom- probably not one whole one chopped up. I've been to the Joplin location twice, both times pre-covid and they were not pleasant. The first trip was a lunch break from a business meeting and the 13 of us went after the typical lunch rush because of the size of our group. They had no problem accommodating all of us, but the amount of time it took to get the food out was horrendous. We wound up being there 1 hr 35 minutes. The rest in our meeting thought we weren't coming back. The second trip was just 4 of us. We were there about 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon. They were busy, but far from packed. We ordered 4 non-alcoholic drinks, a sandwich, 2 calzones and a pizza. It took over 50 minutes to get our food. None of us has been back since, and haven't recommended to anyone. I go to Carmine's or Gusano's. read more
