I have long hair which i would think would be simple to cut but I had several bad haircuts before going to Ellen at Rumours. I won't go to anyone else. I do miss the fact that they have moved from Vernon, however, they still provide the wonderful service, quality and good pricing for their services. Never had an issue in either location. It is better to call for an appointment, although several times, I have gone in and been lucky enough to have a walk in. all of the staff are very polite, courteous, and professional. Getting to the driveway is just slightly tricky, but not a big deal. It is well worth it for the services they provide. read more

Hi all! This was my first haircut since covid and it was great! The salon staff all were masks and sanitize equipment immediately after a customer has used it or been in it. I was also asked to wash my hands upon arriving (love it) and taken in right away. Went to this place to get my eyebrows waxed and they seemed to be doing a great job with COVID-19 precautions until I watched my friend have hers done and the aesthetician PULLED DOWN her mask and blew on the wax before applying it to her face, completely negating her wearing a mask. Was in Sussex County for the weekend and was in desperate need of my first covid cut. First off this place followed all precautions, temp check when you arrived, everything sanitized after each use. First off they gave me a shampoo as well which is something I am not accustomed to at my local place I go to, always a nice touch. I wish I had the name of the technician who cut my hair, but she was awesome. She was a short brunette with a fair amount of tattoos. My hair cut is usually pretty simple, level 3 clippers all the way around, rounded around the back, get rid of the sideburns, scissors up top, parted to the right. I know it is a mouthful. My technician did a fantastic job, followed my directions perfectly, and was chatty and super friendly. Next time I am in the area I will go back for sure. read more

I've been going to Rumours for years. Originally I would see Angela. She was amazing, talented & seriously the absolute best. Unfortunately she's no longer at Rumours (unfortunate for me, probably not her). I received a gift certificate for the salon for Christmas since this was my favorite salon because of Angela. Angela was no longer there at the time so I had no choice but to see someone else. I saw Erica for the first time for a hair trim. She did good so I went back months later for a haircut. It came out okay, a couple uneven pieces but nothing crazy. Each time I saw Erica we discussed doing a balayage. I had a balayage before by Angela but a year later it was grown out, needed some refreshing & most of it was cut off during the hair cut. When Erica & I would discuss this she was very reassuring in the fact that she could do it. A couple months after my hair cut I decided to get the balayage by Erica done. She was able to get me in the next day when I called (I should have known something was not good right there, no one typically has time for a color the next day). I went in & we started the process. During the process we didn't talk much but she did ask me about a HONEY color that would look great on my balayage. I thought honey sounds nice, like a gold caramel color so I said sure. A couple hours later I leave with PINK hair. In no way shape or form was that color HONEY. I went back home crying; hopped in the shower to see if the color would come out & of course it didn't. I called, they told me come right back in so I drove another 30 minutes back to this place for them to fix it. I got back Erica had a plan for a CHESTNUT color next. At this point anything was better than the pink color on my hair so I said yes. Left that time with a reddish tint to my hair which wouldn't be horrible expect 1.) I asked for a balayage & 2.) my hair gets very brassy very quick, red never works with my hair; which she knew. I left that time pissed at the fact I just sent over $150 for something I did not want. Erica knew exactly what I wanted. I showed her 2 pictures of what I would like. I've had a beautiful balayage before, my hair had no color added to it for a year & it was healthy. Erica really screwed me. I called the next morning as soon as they opened asking to speak to a manager. This salon does not have a manager but I did speak to a great receptionist name KATE. She got me in touch with a stylish named SARA who got me in the very next morning because she had a cancellation. Sara was awesome & definitely did what she could with my now disaster hair. I ended up leaving with okay hair, not a balayage at all but not pink or red hair. I'm giving this place a 2 out of 5 because of KATE and SARA. If it were just a review for ERICA it'd be a -5 star review. You need to listen to your clients or you'll have none. This salon definitely lost a client here. read more

I gave detailed directions, a long bob, don't cut the front except to make it healthy. I'm very disappointed in the cut I got. Nothing like the picture I showed. It's not a horror show, but definitely not the cut I was hoping for. My hair is curly, and she styled it straight (by request). To be fair, It looks much better as a curly bob than a straight bob. read more

My Hair cut was ok at best. Their rates were pretty good, but I really did not like waiting at the front desk when I went to pay. I had to wait for the receptionist to handle several different phone calls before she would take my money. I wanted to book a future appointment and they had to go flipping through an appointment book which was a huge waste of time for me. I decided I would book the next appointment on my own since I had to run. When I called later that evening they were not open. I left a voice-mail but never got a phone call back. Meh, I've experienced better is right!. A friend referred me here, citing their experienced staff. Experienced is right. It seemed like every stylist was over the age of 90! The haircut took so long and their customer service was awful. I asked for a coffee and never got one. Then My haircut was not what I had in mind(to say the least). I was pretty angry at my friend who referred me. This place needs to get with the times in a bad way. I am shocked that they even had a yelp considering how old school and sloowwwwww the vibe was. I had a job interview on a Tuesday so I was searching for a Hair Salon that was open on a Monday. Rumours was one of the few Salons that was opened that day. I called and they were able to fit me in. The receptionist was very pleasant. When I got there I found this salon to be clean and well organized. Sam was the hairstylist assigned to me. She was very nice and took the time to go over color selections. After the process I was very pleased with the color and the hairstyle she gave me. It was just what I was looking for. This was my first time there and I was a little hesitant due to the fact that I have very curly and unmanageable hair. It's hard to find someone that can work with my type of hair and Sam did a great job!! I would definitely recommend her to my friends and come back again!! :) read more
