Run & Fun is one of those rare places that leaves a lasting mark on your family. We found Run & Fun through a recommendation from a mutual friend, and all three of our children started there at just six months old. Looking back, I feel incredibly fortunate that they did. Our eldest was born during COVID and spent the first six months of her life with very little interaction outside our immediate family. She has always been a sensitive child and naturally hesitant in unfamiliar environments, so I was especially nervous about leaving her somewhere new. But Erika and Carlos had an incredible way of making her feel safe from the very beginning. She connected with them almost immediately, and before long, Run & Fun had become her happy place. She loved going there so much that leaving at the end of the day was sometimes a full-on emotional event! She would cling to Erika's neck and cry because she didn't want to go home. That says more than any review ever could. She wasn't simply comfortable there. She felt loved, secure, and completely at home. And when our two younger children joined, they developed that same special bond with Erika and Carlos. What makes Run & Fun extraordinary is, above all, the people. Erika and Carlos are truly exceptional human beings. They are warm, patient, generous, and incredibly attentive, but most importantly, they have a natural gift for understanding and caring for children. The love they give isn't something you have to wonder about. You see it in the way the children run to them, trust them, and simply feel happy in their presence. They also put so much thought into every aspect of the children's day. Carlos prepared fresh, delicious food that my kids absolutely loved, and Erika made learning fun and engaging, introducing them to letters, numbers, and early learning in such a natural way. By the age of three, our eldest recognised all letters and numbers (in English and Spanish) and could write her own name. And they always came home with the sweetest little pieces of art and crafts. I still have a box full of them, and they are some of my favourite keepsakes from those years. When we moved away, I honestly cried. It was incredibly difficult to leave a place where I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that my children were loved and cared for so deeply. As a parent, finding people you trust completely with your children is priceless, and saying goodbye to that was incredibly hard for me. Even though we've moved and all three of my children are now in school, Erika and Carlos are still such a meaningful part of their memories. They still talk about them and remember their time at Run & Fun so fondly. We haven't been back to the area yet, but they keep talking about wanting to see Erika and Carlos the next time we're in town. And one of the sweetest things is that Erika and Carlos still remember every birthday and they always call to wish my children a happy birthday. I cannot recommend Run & Fun highly enough. I've been with the daycare for over 7yrs. I couldn't possibly cover all the ways I'm grateful for them so I'll list a handful. First, they are the embodiment of dependability. Even through the pandemic, they only closed down once when Carlos tested positive for Covid. Outside of that, they were able to stay open the whole time. They are super cautious when it comes to really infectious stuff like hand foot and mouth disease, but they won't be calling you because of a runny nose and a simple cough. In the end it's really just a handful of families they work with who all have similar attitudes and priorities and that makes a huge difference. They are not just watching the kids. Erika takes great pains to ensure there are engaging and enriching activities for these young ones every single day. They talk to them in both English and Spanish but they don't force it. Every child picks up as much or as little as they want and their preferences are acknowledged and nurtured. My oldest is a math and science guy while the younger one is more of an athlete and a performer and they both loved their time here. Every parent I've talked to has something to say about the food. It's healthy, it's homemade and magically, they can get all the kids to eat their vegetables. You can literally give your child a glass of milk for dinner and that would be enough calories for the day. Finally, I can't guarantee some results, but my oldest was actually reading by the time he left for Kindergarten. I know some of it is down to nature, but it still takes amazing nurturing to bring out such remarkable results. I cannot say enough good things about Carlos and Erika at Run and Fun. Our two boys attended their in home daycare full time for 2 years, starting at ages 1 and 3 when our previous daycare closed. My sons thrived in their care and absolutely loved them. Both learned so much through Erika's preschool and brought completed school work home every day. Erika also has the most creative art projects for the kids and they raved about Carlos's cooking (food provided). Carlos and Erika offered consistent, loving and safe childcare. We were absolutely heartbroken to leave them when we moved out of the area. We feel so blessed to have had them take care of our kids and highly, highly recommend their daycare. We started sending our oldest daughter to Run and Fun when she was 7 months old (she is now 3.5) and our youngest now goes there as well (14 months). We feel absolutely thankful to have found Run and Fun - Erika and Carlos are like family. They love our girls so much, and our girls love them. Both girls are so excited to go to daycare everyday, and there are activities and friends that suit both of their ages! Our 3.5 year old especially loves watering the garden, doing yoga, learning Spanish, and dancing to music with her friends, in addition to the arts & crafts and learning activities that both girls do daily. We started sending our first child to Run and Fun when she was 7 months old, in 2020, right in the thick of the pandemic. She had literally not engaged with other people other than us until then and we were concerned how she would adapt, but within a few days, she was feeling at home. Fast forward a few months, she would often not want to come home and just wanted to stay with Carlos and Erika. We then had twins in 2022, which we also sent to Run and Fun when they turned 6 months old. It's been almost 4 years for us, and Erika and Carlos are the closest thing our kids have to an extended family here in the Bay Area. They run to the front door when we get there in the morning, and our oldest will often ask if they can go to Erika on weekend days. When we looked for a daycare, we wanted a place where our kids could have fun, make friends, and be excited to come in every morning. Growing up with a large set of cousins that would get together often, I wished for a similar experience for my kids, and this feels as close as one can get. Each one of our kids has their own best friend they like playing with, and they absolutely love Erika and Carlos, I can see that every day in the way when I'm picking up my kids and just before we head to the car, they run back and hug Carlos and Erika's legs and wave them a kiss. As for us parents, we're also pretty happy. Carlos cooks amazing food, or so we're told by the toddler that often reminds us how much she likes his food and ours is not good. He somehow gets them to eat their veggies, and our kids now love lentils at home too because they got used to eating that at run and Fun. The business hours are long, which is very convenient for busy in-office days. Erika does a wonderful jobs teaching the kids with crafts and "homework". Our 2 yr olds love counting to 10+ in both english and spanish. Our 4yr old knows the whole alphabet, can spell and write her name, and can already read some simple words. This is way beyond our expectations, since our only goals for our kids at this stage is for them to have fun, learn how to interact and respect others, and get plenty of physical activity. As some other parent mentioned, this is absolutely the best value too, when you consider the long business hours, and all inclusive food, since they cook breakfast, lunch and provide afternoon snack. If you send your child to Run and Fun, you can be certain they will be loved, nurtured and come home everyday with a full belly and a big smile :) read more

We simply cannot say enough great things about Carlos and Erika. Run & Fun is a daycare, preschool, confidence builder, and a familial extension all in one. We were lucky enough for a spot to open for us there when our son was 18 months old. Our daughter joined thereafter when she was less than a year old. Both of them made huge strides socially and academically (practicing spelling, Spanish, art, counting/math, and more). Most importantly, both of them simply loved it so much! Perhaps most tellingly is the following story: My wife and I had planned to enroll both of our kids at a well-regarded school in the area when each turned three years old. When that time came for our son, we (reluctantly) followed through with the plan and took him out of Run & Fun to enroll him at the school. Despite having this exact plan in place for years and despite a very positive year at the school (which had, itself, lived up to our expectations), we missed Run & Fun so much that we re-enrolled our son there at the conclusion of the school year in order for him to have one more year with Carlos & Erika before he started Kindergarten. Immediately after rejoining, his same excitement and notable progression returned. Similarly, my wife and I could not have been happier with the decision to choose Run & Fun (again). Carlos and Erika (and their own children) are simply like family. They really care, and it shows in the kids. There is no one I would rather take care of my children than Erika and Carlos. They make you feel like family immediately and loved my children like their own. Not only are they incredibly caring, but they also taught my children so much. My daughter is not even 3 and she knows her colors, alphabet, numbers, rote counting to 20 (in English and Spanish) and so much more thanks to Erika and Carlos. I have SO MANY positive things to say about our nearly 3.5 year experience with Run N Fun Childcare! Erica and Carlos are truly wonderful people who sincerely love and care for these children as if they're family, every minute of every day. Erica and Carlos provide an environment where kids feel safe and comfortable. They have exceptional skill in addressing all of the concerns/issues parents dread when dropping off their children every day. I can't tell you how many times I've seen them (quickly and skillfully) de-escalate a confrontation between two kids, or sooth a crying baby, or change a diaper while comforting a grumpy toddler. To do these things WELL in a daycare setting requires real skill, Erica and Carlos have it in spades. My child came home every day with arts and crafts, completed schoolwork, and excited stories about all of her varied experiences in that loving home. From monthly birthday parties to holiday celebrations, planting and harvesting their own fruits and vegetables, dancing, dressing up, art, acting, puppet shows, you name it.... This is as fantastic a spot as you can find for your young child's growing needs! Carlos and Erika are amazing - Erika is so loving and caring of all the children and shows so much attention to the kiddos. Carlos cooks all the meals which are healthy and delicious. We had two kids go there each starting about 6-9 months old going through 3 yrs old. They have come away knowing so many things, including our daughter being able to write her own name. We were so fortunate to find Run and Fun when our son was 6 months old and he was with them until he was 4 1/2. Throughout that time, Carlos and Erika provided consistently phenomenal care. They truly love the kids as their own (and btw, their own kids are also amazing). They provide daily home cooked breakfast and lunch (often including homegrown veggies from the garden that the kids help take care of) and do a wonderful job of teaching the kids everything from letters to numbers to Spanish to manners. As a mother who has been a stay at home mom, I have high expectations for my children when in the care of an other care giver. It took me over a year to find Erika and Carlos. Interviewed over 20 places but none, Could give me the peace of mind until I stepped food in Erika and Carlos' daycare. They are such a perfect dynamic for the kids. I cannot say enough positive things about Erika and Carlos. I was very sad to have to return to work, but taking my daughter to their home is like dropping her off with family. They truly love the children they care for as if they are their own. My daughter warmed up to them very quickly and clearly loves them as well. Not only are they amazing, but they've dedicated their entire home to their daycare. There are dozens and dozens of toys and books and they even do a circle time, teeth brushing, Spanish and sign language. There is often fun music playing and all the children seem happy and engaged. Their large yard includes a large playscape, garden, mini picnic tables and more! My two children were at Run and Fun for the last 3 years, before we moved to the east bay. We had no local family support and both worked full time, which is really challenging. Erika and Carlos became the familial support that we desperately needed, and I don't think I would have made it through our baby years without them! They are the most loving caregivers - so patient, gentle, and kind. I often took parenting notes from them, and asked for their advice. Leaving your kids in daycare each day is hard, but knowing that you are leaving them with people who are better parents than you are is very comforting! Their patience with children far exceeds my own ability, as does their cooking! They served healthy, delicious food that my kids always gobbled up (they ate much more at daycare than at home!) Erika and Carlos are the kindest, most loving caregivers you can hope for. They have a lovely set up in their home and they truly treat the children as members of their family. I left my daughter there starting at 4 months and never for one moment worried about the quality of care. More than being watched she was loved. They serve healthy snacks and fresh food and have a great outdoor area for play as well as lots of toys, games, and imaginative play items. Also, unlike many small home daycares they are licensed. If you are looking for a small, home like care setting for your child (especially a young child) this is one of the best around. We were so lucky to have found them. read more

Erika and Carlos create a caring and nurturing environment for children. If I could give them 10 stars, I would! We have taken our older son there since he was 7 months old and he is now 3 1/2. We just started taking our younger son there and he is 8 months. It's hard enough being working parents, but knowing the boys are going to a place where they are truly loved and cared about makes it much easier. Erika and Carlos treat every child like their own and provide the attention and care needed for the children to thrive and grow. They provide a variety of activities for the children such as outdoor play, group/circle time, music time, and art time. The children learn how to work together, solve problems, and most importantly, how to become independent. In addition to all of the wonderful things going on, they speak to the children in Spanish as well as English, and even teach infants basic sign language. The care Erika and Carlos provide is wonderful for babies and toddlers, as well as preschool aged children. As a former first grade teacher (I now teach third), I am amazed to see the different work my 3 1/2 year old is bringing home. He knows how to spell his name, works with numbers and addition, practices cutting, is learning his letters, can count to at least 30, and is excited about everything he is learning. Our boys love going to Erika and Carlos's house everyday and we feel very grateful to have found such a wonderful place. read more

5 stars simply isn't enough!!! My son was previous at another at home day care in Santa Clara and would cry whenever I left. We decided to move him to Run & Fun and I could not have made a better choice. Erika and Carlos are amazing. From home cooked meals to birthday parties to potty training and teeth brushing before nap, they know exactly what to do and make every moment special. My son BEGS me to let him stay longer in the evening when I come to pick him up. They have escalated his speaking skills and work with him every day on numbers, letters, Spanish, coloring, and so so much more. They garden during the spring and even let him bring home a carrot! There is no greater demonstration of trust than having somebody watch your children. My Wife & I trust Carlos & Erika implicitly. They truly care for, and love each and every one of the kids they look after. They make a big production out of every holiday, birthday and life event that comes along and it's these kind of details that set Run and Fun apart from some of the other daycares we've used in the past. Our eldest has flourished under Carlos & Erika's care, really setting him up for success with entering the schooling system. Even the team dynamic of Husband and Wife was a factor we considered when selecting Run and Fun as our childcare provider. It really is an added bonus to have a male role model around, whereas a lot of other daycares are primarily women. We could go on and on about how much we love and appreciate Carlos and Erika. If I were a kid, I would want to be at Run and Fun Childcare with Carlos and Erika. In the morning they cut fresh fruit EVERY DAY for the children to eatt. In the afternoon, they cook homemade lunches and if your child doesnt like it, they are very mindful and ask the child if they want something else. They are clean, organized, loving, understanding, and truly caring for ALL the children in their care. I put my preschooler back at Run and Fun one day a week because she learned more academically in a two week summer vacation at Run and Fun than she did the first year of preschool. They are a home daycare but run it similiar to a preschool with circle time teaching kids shapes, colors, spanish, etc. I asked my 4yr old what she likes and she said, "I like it when they give me hugs." When I drop my child off at Run and Fun Childcare, I NEVER worry about her while I am working; I know she's well taken care of. read more
