I came here with my trainer today and bought a new pair of running shoes. The staff was so knowledgeable about shoes it was scary; maybe too knowledgable. They measure your feet both length and width and then help you choose the best arch according to your instep. They had me walk a bit back and forth and watched my stride to help me make the best choice. I just finished my first run with the shoes and I love them. I was worried about the dreadful first-time-worn-blister, but no blister here. It felt like I was walking (or running) on air. I have bad shin splints so this is important. I felt like the shock of the impact of my feet hitting the concrete is more absorbed now that I have the right arch for my foot. They only thing that bothered me was there were no price tags on the shoes so I had to ask about the price for every shoe I was interested in. I felt like I was an annoyance, but I'm a bargain shopper. I also wish they had more to choose from. But for the serious runner, do yourself a favor and come here. read more

I. Love. Run On! I have yet to have even a remotely not amazing experience here. The staff is not only friendly, but extremely knowledgeable. (Tip: if you're looking for new running shoes, bring in your current pair and they can look to see whether it was a good shoe for you.) They bring out a few options, you try them on, walk/run around, discuss with the staff, then try on other pairs to compare. Their prices are great, and aren't any more than other stores I've seen. (You may be able to find the shoes cheaper online, but then you forfeit the amazing service.) If you are a runner, beginner or not, Run On! knows what they are talking about and will get you in a shoe that's right for you. I'm new in town and needed a pair of running shoes - A friend recomended Run On! I was greeted by friendly staff and was helped promptly with a shoe fitting. Dave, who helped me, was fantastic - he analyzed my walking and made a recomendation on the best shoes to buy. I tried a couple pairs on and finally settled on a pair. With so many shoes to choose from these days - it was great having someone who could help guide me in the right direction. I had a fantastic experience and will definitely rely on Run On! for all of my future jogging/athletic wear needs. As far as pricing goes, I have no idea what shoes cost these days - and customer service goes a long way in my book. This is so going to be my go-to shoe store here in Dallas. I walked in and handed them my existing shoe that I needed to replace and they brought the new ones out in less than a minute. The shoes were $110 (average for running shoes, I suppose) and I had a coupon from the mail for $10 off, so total with tax was still about $110. The service was great and there were plenty of people working where you wouldn't be standing around waiting. They had a few people working with customers fitting their feet in new shoes. My tip is that if you already have a shoe that works for you, don't switch to a new brand, just buy a new pair of the existing ones. (: read more

Spend the money on the shoes...lol. It's worth it especially if you're trying to keep your feet from screaming after taking a beating. (Hey that rhymed a little)! So I'm running my first half in April, and decided that if I made it through my training, a month out I could go get some snazzy new running shoes. As others have stated, most of the staff here is very knowledgeable and friendly. Earl picked out three awesome pairs of shoes after watching me run around the store (don't be embarrassed! Everybody does it!) and gave me some very helpful running tips as well. Were the shoes cheap? No. But they feel like I'm running on air. And they are an awesome color. You can find everything you need for running except track & field or cross country running shoes.. For a store that is specific to running with it's very name having the word "run" in it, I'm highly disappointed that they don't carry a single track/crosscountry shoe. This is the essence of running sport. The best runners in the world are track and cross country runners. I'm just baffled by this.. (Tip) If you are an ultra serious runner and need some racing shoes, dont go here. All they carry are training shoes and shoes that people do their little 5k's in.. Looks like the stores business model is catering to amateur runners that only run 5k's , 10k's (not on a track) and half/full marathons. They have training classes that teach you the basics. Real training takes a minimum 2 years of running almost everyday. 1yr of base training and the next year is base with speed mixed in. If you want be able to just finish races do the classes and have fun. But if you want to win the race or even come in the top 10 of your age group, these classes are not enough. I think that's where you will need a personal trainer, and only a trainer that can actually run winning times. Not just someone in decent shape. anyway, all-in-all, runon is for the middle/wealthy class of neighborhood run for a cause runners and not the i want to win races and turn pro some day runners. read more

I was a potential first time customer. The gentleman servicing me was super polite. We were in depth speaking about which direction to go when a supervisor walked up informing me it was time to close. The salesman told her that we were deciding between two pairs and she asked what my issue was. I said one was gaudy and she chastised me saying it's a shoe, not a fashion statement. I told her that while I agreed, there was no reason to wear an ugly shoe if another performed as needed. She said I was crazy and laughed. Earl made me feel like a Cinderella in the perfect running shoe. I'll admit: I would have bought by fashion, not by fit. There's an entire wall of colorful, potentially ill-fitting shoes that I would have gladly crammed my feet into in order to feel fashion-forward on the Katy Trail. Earl made me see the error of my ways. In fact, Earl helped me realize that my knee pain was likely related to the fact that I supernate (I roll my feet outwards) - which is problematic. Earl diagnosed me and had me try on - and run around the store in - multiple pairs of shoes that I wouldn't have given a second glance. But, here's the difference: they fit. They made my feet feel happy. I'll take an icy blue fitting shoe over a hot pink blistering SOB any day. I left with a pair of running shoes that will help me train for Kili next year. I ran *immediately* after I bought them - and there's nary a blister in sight. Instead my feet feel perfectly fitted and very happy in their new shoe-gloves. The employees at RunOn are awesome. They really seem to care if you get the right fit of shoe and are knowledgeable in fitting and what you need for the best support. I've taken several training classes with them and they are fun, interactive and I learn a lot each time. My goal is not to run a marathon, not even a 1/2 marathon. They don't push you beyond your goals but are there for encouragement and support no matter what your goals are. They also bring in speakers that are informative and help you meet your goals. Ryan, on the managers worked with me to fit me in a shoe and was awesome. The arch in my left foot doesn't match my right so it makes fitting a shoe more difficult, plus, my heel always slides. Ryan listened to me, measured me, watched me walk and went to town on finding the right shoe. Finally we found the right one! I hate shopping for running shoes...right there with jeans and bathing suits but Ryan made it as painless as possible and was very, very helpful! I'd highly recommend this store! read more

Run On fitted me for my running shoes the staff is extremely knowledgeable most of them are runners them selves. I never leave this place empty handed. The cost of merchandise is what you can expect for brand name athletic clothes but they usually always have stuff on sale. I also love that I always get a had written note after my visit. 5Star service goes straight to Mark! I've been suffering from back pain and also plantar fasciitis for months. Never could seem to find time to stop in and shop for new shoes. I work days at a downtown hospital and came in the store, almost in tears from the pain of been in. I believe the store closed at 8:00pm and I walked in at about 7:35pm! I'm a beginner to running, but knew I needed better shoes. I'd been putting off buying them but was so glad when I finally did, because the staff at Run On couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful! The awesome blond associate who helped me out figured out exactly which shoe would work for me and encouraged me to take plenty of time to decide if I liked it. The shoes are great, but only after the salesperson tried to fit me in a previously owned and returned pair. I knew what I wanted, size/style/brand, having run/owned the same shoe. When I indicated the shoe is loose, perhaps the style has changed, salesperson tied the laces tighter. Still loose and not fitting properly, I began to look at other shoes and he said, "let me get you another pair. Humans make the shoes and are not perfect." [This review is of RunOn's marathon training programs] Get up at 4:30am, Tuesday and Thursday, then at 5:00am on Sundays, all of which are earlier than I would normally get up for work by several hours. Drive across town, run anywhere from one to three hours, much of it in the dark, regardless of how hot or cold it is. Do this for about four months. Oh, and pay someone a couple hundred bucks to run with you on public streets. And then sign up again when the next season starts. While I may describe RunOn's marathon program with draconian imagery, it isa well-organized, professionally-run program well worth the expense. For comparison, I trained with Dallas Running Club for several seasons (I wrote and updated an extensive review). You can get the basic set-up of RunOn's program from their website (undert Training Programs), so let me comment on a few tidbits you can't divine from their site. The good: 1) You'll always have a group to run with, at or very near your preferred running pace, on every run (unless it is "cold" and it rains; more on that later). On weekday runs, there may be 40-60 people depending on from which store you are running. On weekends, there may be well over 200 runners doing the same distance you are doing, with several pace groups from 9 minute miles and up. The pace leaders are experienced runners with competitive insight; they're friendly and genuinely interested in your performance; they're set and hold the advertised pace, but at the same time, they're flexible and adapt to the group's effort (they may speed up or slow down, but only by a few seconds per mile different than advertised); they start on time and stick to the route and distance. 2) The schedule is simple and easy to follow. The Excel-formatted schedule provided at the start of the year lists every run you will do with the group, the distance, pace strategy, and start time. 3) Location and routes are consistent. You know you'll start and finish at the same location every time; who will be there to run with you; and generally what the route will be. Many of the routes are recycled, so you become familiar with the course, but not too much they get boring. 4) Every run is slightly different. Throughout the season, you may have several 10k weekday runs, but you'll never cover the same concrete in consecutive days. Long weekend runs don't always "loop the lake." Sometimes we head downtown; sometimes we go through Highland Park. 5) They set out water and Powerade about every two miles on the course. IMHO, having someone else plot a route, guide you through it with a map, and knowing there will be hydration along the way is well worth the seasonal entry fee. The not-so-good: While this might not concern some runners, not having a pace group below a 9 minute mile (3:55 marathon) doesn't do me much good (eg, I already am sub-4). RunOn's training is pace group-based. They time you in a short run at the beginning of the season and then place you with other runners. Most class members are training to finish their marathon in more than four hours, and many are training "just to finish." As such, if you are a sub-4 marathoner, then RunOn probably isn't right for you. The issue I have is that they don't disclose this prior to registering. Granted, they do have an "advanced" marathon class, but you have to "qualify" for it with a 3:45. The Catch 22 is that to get to 3:45 for the Advanced Class, you need to train at a faster pace than what is offered in RunOn's "regular" program. My point is find out if RunOns offer the pace group you think you'll want to train with prior to signing up. The silver lining is that if/when you get faster, you can always move up a group. You're not wed to any pace group. Feel like going slower that day? Fine, just hang back with the next group that's about 250m behind you. The other downer is that they're squeamish about rain and cold weather. 40 degrees and rain? Cancel it! We will surely slip and fall on water that defies the laws of physics and freezes above 32 degrees. I'm sure major marathons never run in rainy 40-degree weather (ahem, White Rock 2011?!). Finally, talk about communication overload. You signed up to run, not to read e-mails. You get marketing e-mails from the RunOn store (which isn't always bad, because program members get discounts); reminders about your weekend run even though you already have a schedule; updates to the route even though I'm not goig to carry one; and more e-mails from every group you ever ran with. Post this info somewhere and if I want to see who is lecturing this weekend, I'll go and find out. RunOn's program would be five stars, but I can't conscionably do that while they ask for $200+ to lead you through city streets and don't have a pace group that bridges to the Advanced group. The bottom line is that if you put in the work, you will get faster. RunOn *will* get you to the start - healthy - and you'll finish. read more

So i went in because i wait tables and my feet kill me by the end of it. I had to wait a little bit but it was worth it because mark was so knowledgeable. He observed the way i walked,to see specifically what shoe is best. Although i went in looking for a specific brand of shoe people told me about, he put me in an adidas ON CLEARANCE. He didn't try to upsell me. I just told him what all i was looking for, he didn't push me, when i told him i would wait on specific socks, he totally understood. I realized i have been wearing all my sneakers wrong, thanks to mark!!! He even was still wanting me to try a couple more pairs but i was sold once i had the pair on my feet with the insoles that (he also took tons of time to try multiple with me) . He showed me several different shoes with lots of patients and really ensured that I had the right fit. I was willing to pay whatever it took in order to get the right shoe. I was trying to exchange a gift that I got for Christmas and an employee working there told me that I needed proof of purchase. I gave him the name on the card that it was purchased on and he could not find that name in the system. He then told me I needed a receipt which I didn't have because it was a gift. The gift had tags on it and I asked him if he could scan the barcode but he refused. The employee was extremely rude and did not seem like he wanted to help me. I was very frustrated and left the store upset. I will not be going back to the store again! read more
