This is the cutest little cafe in the Hill Country Galleria. I came here for brunch with my run group after doing a class in the Nike Run Studio nearby. It was suggested based on the recommendation of my running friend. I absolutely love the decor of the space. It is a French country farmhouse vibe with so many quant decorative details. We had a large party of 12. They have a bunch of different bakery items behind the counter and a selection of omelettes, French toast and avacado. Unfortunately the cafe was not equipped to handle such a large party. We first placed our drink orders and some individuals including myself did not receive our drinks until after our food order. Many times the incorrect food would come out and they could not keep track of what everyone was ordering. They did ask for patience as they only had one cook, but I did see tables with smaller parties receiving their food in a timely manner. Even with the wait the food was still delivered in a piecemeal fashion. It would have been nice if the restaurant had done something to acknowledge our inconvenience. I started with the purple rain which was one of their specialty drinks a butterfly tea with lemon over sparking water with agava. It was quite expensive but tasted very bland to me. I also ordered a small soldier which is a baked egg wrapped with Italian prosciutto. This item was very tasty but very small. I also ordered a quiche with spinach, feta and tomato with farm fresh egg. This item was a bit more substantial compared to other items and was served with fresh tomato, but could have used a salsa. I didn't get a photo of this item. I was a bit blown away about the price point of these items because I spent nearly $35 for brunch and left still hungry. The dining experience ended up turning into an hour and a half ordeal. For these reasons, I was a bit disappointed and this spot was just not my cup of tea. read more

I went to this restaurant with a group of people after completing a workout at the nearby Nike Running Studio at Bee Cave Galleria. I didn't want to eat a lot because I was going to eat lunch later. I ordered just a small Americana coffee and a "Small Soldier" - a baked egg wrapped with Italian Prosciutto ($4.50). The coffee was listed on the menu as Americana/Misto - $4. I inquired what the Misto was, and the server said it came with steamed milk. That sounded good, so I ordered it. Usually the coffee comes first before the meal, but because of the big group (I suppose), we waited 20 minutes for our beverages. It finally came with the meal. And it took another 5-10 minutes to receive the tiny pitcher of steamed cream for the coffee. The coffee was almost cold by then. The Small Soldier was tasty, but extremely small for $4.50. When the bill came, I was shocked to see it came to $12.18! When I saw on the receipt that I was charged $5 for coffee instead of $4, I questioned the server. She said the steamed cream was $1.00, which I was not told about that when ordering, and it wasn't listed on the menu. When does one ever have to pay extra for cream for coffee? Never! I probably wouldn't have ordered it had I know that it was $1.00 extra; it felt like deception. And to be charged 20% gratuity when we waited 20 minutes for a beverage seemed unfair. They should have compensated us for the long wait! Though the meal was good, I will never go back there. (Plus, it's far for me to go.) read more

Shamelessly unethical. I requested hot sauce for my sandwich and received a tablespoon of cholula. When presented with the bill, I was given a handheld device showing only the total, which I paid. Only after paying did I see an itemized bill showing I was erroneously charged $2 for "salsa." I told the waitress about the error on my bill because I did not order salsa. She said that was the charge for hot sauce. I told her that $2 is an unreasonable charge for a tiny amount of hot sauce. She blamed it on her mother who sets the prices. If a restaurant is going to charge a customer $2 for a tablespoon of cholula, they owe it to the customer to disclose it upfront and not surprise them with a bill. Food is lackluster. Service is incredibly slow. Poor experience all around. read more

Runaway Luna was cute but I think the food could have been a bit better! They had a lot of home goods for sale which was fun to browse. I had an herbal latte which was made with beetroot - it was supposed to have notes of pomegranate and rose but I could only taste beets and the large rose petal chunks were pretty but not something that's actually fun to eat. Not exactly what I was hoping for. The drinks did come with a quarter-sized mini cookie which was cute. My friend had a scone and she said it wasn't that great but she liked her iced coffee. I did enjoy their almond croissant though - the size was ample and the almond filling delicious with lots of almonds on top to give it a good crunch. Our server was really kind and the ambiance was relaxing - I noticed some candles were burning which was cozy. I'd like to try and come back but will try a different drink! read more

Runaway Luna has been one of my favorite Austin spots for years. I fell in love with it when I lived here, and now every time I'm back in town, it's one of my first stops. Their honeycomb latte has been my go-to drink for three years -- it's perfectly balanced, a little magical, and honestly something I still crave when I'm away. On my most recent visit, I tried the strawberry cream cheese bagel along with my usual latte, and both were absolutely fabulous. The food is always plated so beautifully -- every dish looks like a little piece of art -- and the taste completely matches the presentation. I always immediately begin devouring the food so the photos are after I began eating I've always found the vibe here cozy, creative, and welcoming, and I love browsing the vintage section after coffee or brunch. It's such a unique touch and really sets them apart. In all the years I've come, my experiences have always been consistently wonderful. Hannah makes sure of it! I won't turn down an invite here. If I come with intention to buy one cup of coffee, I'll always come out with more. They have a mini lifestyle store and serve other breakfast items such as croissants and fancy egg items. The presentation of the food and drinks are aesthetic. They do not have wifi however, probably bc they encourage you to enjoy your meal rather than be on your devices. So make sure you have hotspot if you intend to telework. Well every time I visit for something quick I am excited but then always woefully disappointed. Ordered a scone - looked great tasted ok but they brought it cold and dry with whipped cream. Warm and butter please. Ordered a scrambled egg and it's disgusting. Soft watery no flavor but it has that microwave vibe. Either be Starbucks and do it properly. Don't pretend you aren't because it's all pre-made and not as good. My 2 cents on the food - bleh It's cute but always disorganized.... I wish this place would loosen up a bit and realize that if you want to have a successful business, you need to listen to your customers. I want to like this place so bad. I lived in the galleria for a year and I work from home, it would have been so easy to walk here and give so much business to them. I also usually buy something off the shelves in addition to coffee and food, I am a good customer to have like probably many customers they have turned off. I pulled up today to get a coffee at 7:54am and to my surprise, they were closed. A coffee shop. Closed at 7:54am. The last time I came here, probably a year or 2 ago, the prices on the menu said one thing, but when she rung me up, it was completely different because of "COVID inflation". I can't say if they've adjusted their board since then but COVID was in 2020 and it's not hard or expensive to modify a poster. It's a total turnoff to a customer to expect one price and be charged another. I feel like I'm walking on egg shells in this place, scared to even ask for a fork if mine falls on the floor. Well I need to work. You have a laptop section?? Why?? Ok, no worries- can you wrap this up? That will be an extra $.50. AN EXTRA. ON TOP OF. And then the sandwich was so poorly wrapped it fell out of the bag. I spent $20 and walked out with nothing. I had three sips of an overpriced latte and paid $20 for a sandwich that ended up on the ground as it was not wrapped and the bag not even closed. DO NOT GO HERE. No Wi-Fi in a coffee shop? GOODBYE. The owner needs a real attitude adjustment and should maybe play back the tapes to hear how ugly she actually sounded in this interaction. I came here to have my one on one meetings with my staff and thought it'd be a nice treat since the pastries looked so beautiful. This had already been my third visit and there would have been a forth this week but I definitely will not be back. When we walked up to the register another patron had come in as well, we let her go ahead since we needed a moment to look over the menu. A family with small children came in behind us and we made our selection and placed our order with the owner. When we turned to take a seat one of kiddos had stepped right in front of me, so I tried to step around her and in doing so, my bag knocked one of the candles off the tiny ledge and broke on to the floor. After I'd seen what had happened, I felt terrible and looked up to apologize profusely but was met with a scowl on the owners face. Myself and my employee started to pick up the pieces and put, them on the counter since it was broken glass and small children were around. She barked at us that it was broken and that it had to be paid for and immediately punched it in to the register. I was so in shock by this but my employee quickly tells her it was an accident, but is cut off with "we're a small business, why do we feel shouldn't be paid for? I then tell her again, it was an accident to which she says "they've been there all week", basically telling me she knew I'd been in there multiple days, spending money and supporting her "small business" but that didn't matter. The family behind us even told their children they'd be leaving because they weren't very nice there and the owner barked at them 'why do you think it shouldn't be paid for, we're a small business?'. I paid for it, but just wanted to get out so I asked for the drinks to go instead. When she alerted us that our coffee was ready , we grabbed our drinks and started to walk out but my employee realized she hadn't gotten his scone and went back, I could not hear everything that was said but she tried saying she wasn't acting rude towards us, to which I called bull, and let her know she wasn't that nice. On our way out, the patron who ordered before us asked if she actually made us pay for it and was just as shocked as we were and said she wouldn't be back either. Had the interaction gone more on the lines of "Hey, I know it was an accident, but we're a small business, would you mind paying half?", I wouldn't be here making others aware of her nastiness and gladly would have paid. I hope the tiny, overprice $35 candle was worth all the patrons that were there to witness your lovely personality. This place has so much potential but missed the mark completely! The service is painfully slow. I ordered just a plain black coffee and that took 15 minutes to get to our table!We had to ask for silverware twice before it showed up. One member of our party ordered the special of the day which was an omelette with a choice of protein. They requested ham. When the omelette came out there wasn't any ham. It was sent back only to come back within mere minutes with slices of cold deli ham laid on top of the original omelette! Another person in our party ordered French Toast. They requested butter and our server finally came back with it when the French toast was basically all eaten at that point. If this establishment wants to continue as a sit down type of restaurant then they need some more training of their staff. It seems that this place is caught in an identity crisis. Is it a bakery? Is it a store that sells semi unique items? Is it a breakfast/lunch restaurant? Pick one and then put your efforts into making it the best it can be. read more

What a different experience this was I came in this morning after visiting my parents in lakeway and decided to work from runaway Luna - as I had previously had decent experiences here This time I came in - ordered my coffee - sat down and hopped on my morning zoom meeting (with video) While I was clearly in a meeting a lady approached me and rudely asked if I had ordered a coffee. I couldn't look over at first as I was on video and took a second to turn off my video to respond to her. I then asked her what she had asked and she repeated herself and I said yes I did - sorry I am in a meeting right now. She then rudely replied, "well this is a coffee shop" and stormed off. I asked to ladies behind the counter who she was and of course - she is the owner haha. What a terrible, disrespectful, rude experience. How unprofessional for a business owner to rudely approach a client and stereotype them based on age - assuming I had not bought a coffee - to top it off they do not offer free wifi - you have to use the galleria wifi that is spotty and never works. I will not be returning - Greater Goods Coffee is way better anyways and only a minute drive away. read more

LOVE this place and miss it so much now that I live in New Braunfels. The atmosphere is super cute and serene. I would get coffee, muffins and earrings all in the same place. The staff was always amazing and answered all my questions. Parking can be hard to find in front of the businesses and so park in the parking garage and walk. They close at 3pm I believe and so try and make it if you can. read more

I've been coming here for almost 4 years now and I've never had a bad experience. Staff are so friendly, welcoming, and truly care. The inside is beautiful and cozy, it's perfect for getting brunch and a sweet treat/pastry. The coffee is very smooth, high quality- The honeycomb latte is my go-to but even their plain espresso shots are amazing, which is hard to say for some other places!!
