Taco (bacon, egg, cheese) and a peach turnover
    David R.

I was looking for a breakfast place that wasn't a chain , when I came across Cafe Lago in Lakeway, Texas. My first inclination that it was a good place was the police car and fire truck outside in the parking lot. I promise you that those guys know a good place to eat. The menu has anything you need and is not so big to be confusing . I went with two bacon , egg and cheese tacos and a peach turnover. Yes to both!! There was only one waitress I saw, but she was handling the crowd of customers the very best she could. A lot of men having breakfast and no one seemed to be in a hurry. I bet their lunches are just as good as the breakfast was. If you are ever in Lakeway, Texas, give Cafe Lago a try. Go get Full

Looking for a new breakfast place, hoping to find a "regular" place, we came upon Café Lago. It's small and although they have an outdoor patio, this day was quite chilly and we wanted to dine inside... and so did everyone else. All the tables were full, but there was no one else waiting for a table at that time. There doesn't seem to be any sign up sheet/list, so stay near by and keep an eye out for people leaving their table. The staff are certainly busy but just seemed odd that no one would talk to you until you are at a table. We didn't wait long for our table and once seated, we were immediately greeted and our drink orders were taken. The staff are very friendly and personable. It was our first time so we were just looking over the menu and deciding between breakfast or lunch. So, we decided on one of each. I had the "Jake's Eggs" and my friend had a turkey sandwich. We also had a slice of the French Toast. And to drink I had the iced tea. For starters, the tea is freshly brewed. You really have to appreciate a place that will brew their tea instead of using instant. We didn't have to wait very long before the food came out. The plates were full and the food was fresh and hot. For starters, the French Toast is made from raisin Texas toast and it looks like something you would see on the menu. The pictures always look better than the food, but this looked amazing! And looks were deceiving; I realize French Toast can seem pretty basic, but you don't want to pass this up even if it's just to share a slice or two with someone. The Jake's Eggs is just scrambled eggs with a lot added in. It's probably really good if you are very hungry but not if you want something light. I had the hash browns and tortilla. It's a decent egg meal but not something I would order regularly. The sandwich was kind of plain. The turkey was fresh and came with corn chips. So, overall it's a nice place but not a place I would pick as a "regular". They are very nice and it's a quaint place, good prices. But the food was just okay. I would consider giving it another try in the future and see if the food is any better.

Cappuccino frozen. Very good. Not too sweet

We came Saturday morning 9:45am, no wait. The frozen cappuccino was delish on this ultra hot day. The cinnamon raisin French toast with bacon and eggs was ok nothing special. I expected more flavor for the French toast but it tasted like regular bread. Service was fast and friendly. Everyone there we're really sweet and helpful with suggestions regarding local wineries.

Eh. Cute little diner in lakeway. Food was great we had huevous rancheros and chops and eggs! Waited 25 minutes before even seeing our server though. Service was not great and floor was dirty and lots of flies everywhere. Asks staff when paying at the end "how are you?" They say good. Don't ask back and just take your card to pay

If you visiting Lakeway, be sure to grab breakfast at Cafe Lago! You can thank me later. All the locals know what a gem it is. The breakfast is fresh, tasty and always delicious. We had the Migas plate and the breakfast burrito. Thumbs up! Service was spot on and delivered with humor, which is always a bonus!

This was our 2nd time in for breakfast and the food was absolutely delicious! The service was good, we have no complaints. We love the 'local' type ambience, and the tradition of different coffee mugs that have been accumulated over the years. Great breakfast for sure!

After dropping our car off for service in the area we searched Yelp for a breakfast spot. We scrolled through a few options and decided to try Café Lago. It's a quaint little spot nestled in the Lakeway community. Nice to be outside of metro Austin, where parking is free and plenty. There was serviced seating outside, but we opted to sit inside. After seating ourselves, a young woman immediately approached with menus and flatware, and asked for our drink orders. She returned quickly with glasses of water and coffee, then took our food orders. The breakfast menu included traditional options along with breakfast tacos and burritos. We chose the Eggs Lakeway with pancakes and choice of meat. No exaggeration -- our food was served just a few minutes later, hot and freshly made. We enjoyed breakfast and had ample coffee refills without asking. This was a great find thanks to Yelp! Btw, check out the spinning fly repellent contraptions if you dine outside.

I've become one of those people. The ones who quietly drift…read moreaway from coffee and discover matcha... only to become completely obsessed. No regrets. And if my bank account would cooperate, I'd happily be drinking a matcha from Cafe du Bliss every single day of the week. This little family-owned café has completely stolen my heart. First things first--it's tiny. Like, blink-and-you've-missed-all-the-seats tiny. If your goal is to settle in with your drink, get there when they open at 9:00 because those seats disappear faster than free samples at Costco. (I've also noticed people walking in and immediately grabbing drinks that are already waiting for them, so apparently online ordering is a thing. My next personal mission is figuring that out because I clearly need this knowledge in my life.) Now... the drinks. Every single one we've tried has been exceptional. My personal happy place is their matcha lineup. The Strawberry Matcha? Outstanding. The Strawberry Cloud Matcha? Equally fantastic. The matcha is beautifully vibrant without that bitter, overly grassy punch that turns so many people away. The strawberry complements it instead of overpowering it, creating a drink that's balanced, refreshing, and somehow disappears far too quickly. I keep telling myself I'm going to branch out and order something different... but then I see that beautiful green matcha again and all my self-control leaves the building. The Banana Matcha Latte is officially next on my list. I also "borrowed" a few sips from my twins' drinks (that's what moms do). The Mascarpone Tiramisu Latte? Dangerously delicious. The Dalgona Brown Sugar Latte? Equally impressive. Honestly, at this point I'm starting to believe they simply don't know how to make a bad drink. The only menu item that didn't completely win me over was the Strawberry Banana Croffle. The croffle itself was lovely, but for my taste, the chocolate pushed it over the sweetness line. Without it, I think it would have been just about perfect. (For those wondering: A croffle is a Korean croissant + waffle dessert.) And here's the thing... One menu item that wasn't my favorite doesn't even come close to changing my opinion of this place. Not even a little. The drinks are consistently outstanding. The service has been warm every single visit. The fact that it's a family-owned business makes me want to support them even more. Finding a café that gets me genuinely excited to try my way through the menu is rare. Cafe du Bliss has done exactly that. Now if you'll excuse me, I suddenly have an overwhelming craving for a Strawberry Matcha...

It's kind of hidden in a corner, so if you're having trouble finding it, I recommend using one of the large maps on-site to make it easier. I ordered the Banana Matcha Cloud and a Blueberry Croffle. After my first bite, I immediately regretted not ordering a few extra croffles for the road--but I guess that just gives me an excuse to come back and try the rest of the menu. If you're unfamiliar with croffles, they're croissants pressed into crispy, buttery perfection in a waffle maker. They're topped with an assortment of mouthwatering ingredients before being served, making for an incredibly aesthetic (and delicious) treat. They also serve warm, freshly made taiyaki with a variety of fillings that are just as tempting. This place stays busy, and for good reason. Even if there's a line, it's absolutely worth the wait. They move through orders quickly, the service is efficient, and the quality never seems to suffer. I left completely satisfied, and this spot has definitely earned a place on my list of cafés I'll happily keep coming back to.

We arrived at 7:32. When our party of four arrived, we were told there was no table for us. Even though there were two tables available in the dining room. We were told that those tables were reserved for someone else and we could not sit at that table. We were told that it was another reservation for 730. We were not offered any accommodation, even though there were four barstools at the bar open, except to sit outside on the patio in the 90° heat. We refused and decided to find a different place to eat. It was very shocking that they treated us in this manner as I have been a guest at the Wayback multiple times and never had this experience. It was almost like it was a prank. We went back to the car to find another restaurant to celebrate my friend's birthday. While we are making arrangements for that, I realized that I had paid $25 for this reservation that they were not honoring and I wanted to make sure I requested that be returned. I went back into the dining room at 7:50 and the table for four that they refused to sit us at was still available. Amy, the young lady who said she was "like a manager", treated us as though we had done something wrong. When I went back in and requested my $25 back from her she made some comment regarding my refund tied to whether we gave them a bad review for the incident (one of my friends as we walked out of the dining room, said she would be leaving a review). I called the main number the following day and spoke with Vicky. Vicky told me she wanted to look into the situation and figure out what had happened. I told her the intention of my call was to get my the deposit refunded. She called me back a few hours later explaining it was their fault. She said that there was another person in the restaurant that had my same name and they wanted to move from the patio to the dining room and the staff gave away our reservation to that party. Understandable. She was apologetic and told me she would take care of the refund and also offered to send me $50 gift card through Toast. I'm not even really sure how that works or what that is, but I really just wanted to close out the whole deal. No refund or Gift Card ever showed up. I know sometimes that can take a little bit of time so I waited until the 25th and called back. No one answered. I left a message and did not get a returned call. I called again at about 11 AM on the 26th again no answer. I did not leave another message. I called again around 4pm. Amy, the young lady we dealt with on the evening of the event, answered the phone. She said the people in the office had already left for the day and she would take my phone number and name and somebody would call me on Monday. She called me back about 30 minutes later telling me she needed the card number that the reservation was made under. I didn't really feel comfortable giving that to her so I just said I would wait to hear from the office staff on Monday. Well no one called on Monday. No one called on Tuesday either. I called in on Wednesday and spoke with Vicky again. She said she had gone out of town and doesn't know why the refund was not taken care of. She said she was needed some time to look into it. I asked her to call me back when she had some resolution. I did not hear back from Vicky but today I got an email from toast that a $25 refund to my credit card had been run.... and I never provided my card number to have that refund issued. I do not take any pleasure in writing a bad review for a business. I waited to write this review until there had been full resolution so I gave them plenty of opportunities to communicate clearly and make this situation right. It kept getting fumbled which leaves me with the impression that they don't care about customer service.

While mistakes happen, what was most frustrating was how the situation was handled. The staff showed little concern for the inconvenience caused and made no meaningful effort to make things right. There was no attempt to find a solution, accommodate us in another way, offer an alternative time, or show any sense of urgency in resolving the issue. Instead, we were essentially left with no options and had to leave. A reservation is an agreement between the restaurant and its guests. When the restaurant fails to honor that commitment, the least customers should expect is an apology and a genuine effort to resolve the problem. Unfortunately, we received neither. The lack of customer service, accountability, and professionalism was disappointing and left a very negative impression. We had been looking forward to our evening, but instead walked away feeling like our business was not valued at all.

This is a very cute cafe and ice cream shop with a play place in the back. It's a $10 admission per child, parents get in free. The admission here is $8 less than Pikopye's and you're able to just walk in. Love that. As some yelpers have mentioned, it is a bit chaotic as there are so many toys around. There are lots of tables to sit and eat at within the play area. There are different play areas such as a doctor's office set up complete with little scrubs, hats, and stethoscopes. There's a firefighting area with fire fighter gear. As well as a farmer's market area with tons of toy produce. All the toys from each play area are scattered amongst the entire play room. I'm kind of wondering how often they sanitize all the toys/costumes/tables etc. as there are a lot of kids with runny noses here. Overall it's a good place for kids to come and socialize/burn some energy.
