Having stayed at many inns and B&Bs, I must say, this was the best one for many reasons: Jan, the owner went out of her way to make us feel welcomed and comfortable, from her kind generous hospitality to the temperature of the bedroom at night; Breakfast not only had a sophisticated presentation, it was absolutely delicious. I'll try to upload the main entry. Plus, fresh fruit with a not-too sweet yogurt topping and decorative sugar was served first, but I didn't get a picture of it; Jan shared the stories behind her trinkets and collections, filled with history and nostalgia. Her rolling pin collection alone is enough reason to visit Montana! She assisted with directions and provided information that helped me get around. The Running Horse Inn is an absolutely hidden gem in the country! A peaceful, quiet B&B nestled in the woods with a beautiful creek in the back. When you arrive, Jan greets you like family and her home is so beautiful and she has seen to every detail. The rooms are large are wonderfully decorated. Every one different and Spotless!!! We loved looking out our windows to the beautiful scenery, a pond, elk, deer, turkey, moose and maybe an occasional bear! The breakfast was phenomenal every morning and our stay was too! Jan saw to every detail and made us feel like family! If you are in the Lolo National Forest/ Bitterroot Mountains area... this is the place to stay!!!! We didn't want to leave! read more
