I had to get treatment yesterday and, the staff were polite and, it has not changed much since Covid-19 and, it has not changed much. I was there for more than 6 hours and, I had to speak to a doctor after almost 6 hours-I had not been there for treatment very sparingly over 10 years. I know of a staff member who has been employed more than 15 years. I am impressed by the staff and, their kindness and, I left feeling a lot different and, I told the doctor that I was not sick. My previous experiences with this hospital were not very good at all, quite the opposite and in the negative. This experience was much better, was able to hop around and find a wheelchair no problem. The staff were super friendly and worked with a sense of urgency, when it all was said and done, the visit took about 3 hours, the only thing that I have negative to say was that the doctor at the time read my xray wrong and I got a phone call the next day telling me very bad news. The hospital was very clean and bright. Lots of parking on site Transit options are the 123 and 80 buses, and the 15 with a bit of a walk from the mall.

An urgent care centre (UCC) provides care for non emergency injuries and personal health issues. Sprains, cuts, rashes, broken fingers etc for example, as well as blocked catheters, urinary retention and post surgical complications if needed. Emergency care is provided at another site, as is inpatient care. This site provides investigative and pre operative work up, as well as rehabilitation on an outpatient basis. An army of knowledgeable volunteers and clerical staff ensure you are seen in good time. The UCC practices triage, so less urgent cases may wait a long time for treatment. These cases could probably get seen at a walk in clinic or at their own doctors. Properly utilized this can be a one stop shop. Before I retired as an RN I referred patients here appropriately and they received good care. My wife had her follow up care here after her knee replacement, and I have cardiac investigations done here. The one down side? The cost of parking, although options are available to reduce the cost for frequent attenders.

There are a lot of parking lots but most of them require you to pay hourly or you can purchase the daily/weekly pass. There is a Tim Hortons inside - very convenient. The doctors and nurses there were great and very tentative. They provided a lot of support and encouragement.

My dad has escaped a stay (knock on wood!) at this hospital. I did a couple of nutritional sessions with a dietician at this hospital over a decade ago. I got a referral by my doctor and it was two sessions that proved helpful. I enjoyed the field trip that we did to the Loblaws nearby and learning how to effectively read nutrition labels on products, along with in-classroom instruction. These sessions were helpful guiding me in losing sixty pounds and keeping most of it off to this day. I have also seen a rheumatologist and an ophthalmologist at MSH. The former was to rule out a finding from my bloodwork. The latter was similar, to rule out a detail found in an x-ray. I had surgery at this hospital over a decade ago here. The process to check in, change, get anesthesia administered, have surgery, go through physiotherapy, and gradually return to my normal self was thoughtfully planned. My surgeon was awesome, who scheduled a couple of post-surgery appointments to make sure that I was on the mend and got my staples removed. I was a patient for four days. The meals were okay. I obviously survived. I looked forward to them because I'm just that type of person. I chose the diabetic plan because I wanted less sugar. I also knew the food drop-off schedule like clockwork... haha! Staff were competent, from the nurses and doctors, to the radiologists and various interns. No complaints. My mom also had surgery here. Her stay was a bit longer, but she was made to feel comfortable. She also had a physiotherapy component. The wait times can be extremely long. Even with an appointment, I remember my appointment being at least two hours in length, with most of it being a wait. It's paid parking. You basically pay at a kiosk. If you are lucky to have someone drop you off and pick you up, you'll save a bit. For my last appointment post-surgery, my dad dropped me off and picked me up. It was great, but trying to let him know when my appointment was nearly done was tough to predict. As with most hospitals in Canada, if it's for an emergency, expect a wait. Triage at MSH is much better than at other hospitals in the GTA, such as Toronto Western and Birchmount (formerly Scarborough Grace). Many factors are at play, from how many doctors are on staff to see patients, to the severity of the health issue. I booked COVID-19 shots for my parents in a building next to the hospital during the height of the pandemic. My parents were pleased with how things went. My dad didn't complain, so things went smoothly and they got their shots together. It's a decent hospital. I am thankful for the care that my mom and I have had. (45)

About 10 years ago, I was being 'a boy' and rough housing with some pals and fell a certain way causing a full posterior dislocation of my left shoulder (in lay-mans terms, I popped my shoulder 100% out of the socket on impact to the back before it fell down). I don't need to describe the pain I went through in the moments, days and weeks that followed. I had physio at the time to strengthen and correct the injury as best as I possibly could. Thankfully, unlike many other people who've done the same, I've never re-injured it. Touch wood. However, I've I gotten older, I've begun to suffer from chronic ongoing aches and pains in the same shoulder as well as tingling in my fingers and occasional shooting pains, equally not fun. I ended up getting a referral to West Park to have some physio done on my shoulder to see what could be done. After an $80 initial assessment I was put through weekly exercise and ultrasound treatments to help fix the scar tissue that had built up and strengthen the are. After about 10 treatments, I was happy with my progress and took to continuing my exercise at home. It's been about 4-5 months since my last session and while I still get occasional moments of discomfort, which given my injury is expected, the overall condition of my shoulder is much better than before. Pro-tip: if you're considering physio, understand that doing your assigned exercises as often as prescribed is as important as taking antibiotics as directed when you're sick. The nursing staff is completely apathetic to the patient's newly acquired injuries and deficits. Look elsewhere for long-term in patient care! M H
