The first time I went in I was shocked to find out they even have trunk shows and fashion shows AND a poetry night. The boutique itself is wonderful and so fun to shop in , Fatima is great and has such a good eye for finding one of a kind pieces . HOWEVER beware of the pop up shops!! I attended one of the special events hosted in the store . There were two different vendors selling beautiful African clothing . One of them was offering custom made pieces . I picked some gorgeous material and was so excited , as I have never done anything like this for myself and it was the ultimate treat . I chose to have a wrap dress made . The vendor said that it would be ready in two weeks . Here it is , about 6 months later and I have an unfinished, poorly fitted dress that I can do nothing with . The vendor was impossible to work with . She wouldn't return phone calls and when she did , she offered vague explanations for her absence like she was sick or traveling . I once got so frustrated that I called Fatima and she kindly got a hold of the vendor, and she finally called me back . That was one of the rare times I got an immediate response . I have had two fittings , both all wrong and the dress looks like it was made for someone else entirely . There is one good ending to the story . I did get a full refund . BUT at the end of the day ,it's all about good customer service isn't it ? There is no price tag on being treated with respect and basic kindness . I feel like I've wasted time, energy and beautiful material . I guess we really do live in a "throw away" society . What a shame . read more

As much as it feels good to write this review for such a great shopping find, It pains me to let this secret out to the public. I used to live in this neighborhood and came across this little shop by accident. It is a combination of new and vintage items as well as re-worked and re-fashioned items. I never walk out empty handed and never feel like i break the bank. In fact I always walk out with 2 or 3 items and I always say "i can't believe how little that was!" Fatima and staff are always very helpful with putting looks together that you wouldn't have thought of. Ok maybe that's just me. Fatimah, who owns the store, is a natural-born stylist. You can walk out of there fully outfitted with several ensembles, including shoes, bag, full jewelry -- all for the price of one outfit at a snootier but less cool boutique. And she will steer you in the direction of unexpected color combos, so you look like you walked off the pages of a magazine. Everyone will want to know where you got your clothes. I was a patron at the Headwraps event hotsed by this business today, I purchased one of their tshirts. I was charged $30 when the sign and the other person at the booth said they were $10. It is very discouraging when a situation like this happens and left me feeling taken advantage of. I came to the event with the intentions of supporting small black businesses, which despite this situation I still did, the item however will not hold the same excitement and sentiment as the the others. read more
