Stopped here on our way through to stretch our legs and we were glad we did. The staff was super friendly I didn't catch her name but an older woman was so friendly and nice to us and our 1 year old. Brought our food over and extra napkins. I had a cheese Runza meal with frings and it was solid, great amount of rings and fries and their ranch is just the best. My wife had a cheeseburger meal she was a little disappointed "a Runza burger used to slap once upon a time, now isn't that time" but she enjoyed her fries. Our baby enjoyed her chicken strips and mandarin oranges. There was a friendly elderly group inside while we were there and were super supportive of our 1 year old walking around and burning off some energy before going back into the car seat. Stopped in for food late and the dining area was closed. I was on the road for along time and this Owner unlocked the door and made me some food. This is what the world is missing. Business establishments willing to bend over backwards for a customer. The food was amazing! If your looking for down home food and a super friendly staff. Went to Runza to get dinner Sunday night and when I ordered I was informed that they were out of Runzas! How do you run out of your signature item?! I am very ticked off about this! What kind of manager let's their store run out of a signature item? I will not be returning here anytime soon! Mr Whiting needs to get his business under control or lose money big time because I have a big mouth and will tell everyone I can about this experience and we all know it cost ten times more to gain back ticked off customers than it does to keep them! Friendly staff quick service along with decent prices. Can't go wrong with a good cheeseburger. Fries are the best.

A step up from the Burger King's and McDonald's fast food places. Burgers are made using fresh made patties. Onion Rings are very good. Nice light batter and crunchy. The Swiss mushroom Runza is very good. Think hot pocket only way better. A soft bread pocket stuffed with meat, cabbage mixture, cheese and mushrooms. Very tasty. Service was fast. read more

We were passing thru Nebraska, just before 9 pm - hungry with hours to go. We stopped in and the counter person was a polite professional young man. The food was hot, fresh and so good. Oh my holy gawd. Apparently, Runza used to be the kind of place you'd search out on road trips through the culinary wasteland that is Nebraska. And if you believe what you see, the photos of the trademark meat-stuffed buns (HA!) on their menu actually DO look tasty. But guess what? You ain't getting what you see in those photos. What you see: steaming fresh ground beef, cheese, shredded cabbage, all filling a plump, golden-brown roll. It looks like a bread ravioli. What you get: sticky gray (GRAY!?!?!) paste (PASTE!?!?!) squeezed between two pieces of off-white, flattened piece of mushy bread-like things. I wouldn't feed it to my dog. However, because it's nice to say nice things and I'm feeling friendly today... at least their fries are damn good. read more

I was looking for highlights to hit while traveling across Nebraska, and Runza kept coming up. Omg. Worst onion rings ever. Big hunks of onion, which was fine, but the blandest most horrible batter ever. Ugh. I hope I just got a bad batch. I got the Frings- a nice mix of fries and rings, right? Wrong. Love the idea but the onion rings killed it. The fries were fantastic. Crisp yet meaty. As for the Runza. I actually liked the meat, but what's up with the bread? Seems like the bread should be slightly toasted or something. Overall it was a very disappointing experience. The cashier was very friendly though. I don't even care what the haters say--this Runza was the shit. All four of us ordered "deluxe chicken sandwiches" and let me tell you--boy were they deluxe. With deluxe service included! By the best goddamn teenage cashier West of the Mississippi and East of the Rockies! He brought those chicky sammies STEAMING right out to our gullets sayin "have a good day". They were out of ketchup but we used those lil ketchy packs and fashioned a work-around and it was all good in the Gothenburg neighborhood. Frings were ok. read more

We stayed in Gothenburg on our way to Chicago. After looking at the variety of restaurants (quite a few for such a small town), we decided to try Runza for the convenience. After reading the other Yelp reviews we weren't expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised. I would even say that this was the best fast food restaurant we've been to since moving to WY. The Philly cheesesteak was great, the burgers were juicy, the fries were crisp and the onion rings were not too greasy. Even my kids ate every bite! My only complaint would be that there should be sauce on both sides of the bun on the grilled chicken sandwich. If your traveling as a family this is a great choice that will please everyone. If you stop try Runza in Gothenburg, take a few minutes to drive through the town. It's one of the nicest and friendliest communities we've been to. read more

I've never said this before but I'd rather eat McDonalds! The chicken burger I ate had way too much sauce. You get a few sauce choices for the sandwiches and I asked for buffalo sauce and it was almost like they put ranch and then realized I said buffalo afterward because there was so much of both. The place was clean and the staff respectful. I enjoyed the number 8 chicken sandwich. The taste was delicious and healthy.

Far and away, the best "fast food" burger joint in the town of Gothenburg, NE. That being said, the chicken is okay. But everything at Runza vastly surpasses the truly horrifying meal one can expect from the McDonalds down the street. If you're dead set on fast food in the town of Gothenburg, go directly to Runza.
