Great local spot that never disappoints. They are always busy so expect a wait! Our waitress was nice, but had a lot of tables so refills and needs went unnoticed. My husbands & his grandpas go to favorite "Kevin Burger" typical burger with all the toppings. It's your typical diner food with the diner atmosphere, love it! Have never had a bad meal here. Parking lot!

This one is a tricky review to write. On the one hand it was a perfect meal, I left happy and content. On the other hand it wasn't particularly good. It is hard to explain but I will try. First the positives, the food fine/borderline good. And it was cheap. The waitstaff was very nice and everything came out pretty fast. The bad, there wasn't really much bad, there was just an absence of good I guess. The food was just ok mostly. I got a patty melt and the burger patty was tiny but still juice and good, just small for a patty melt. The rye bred was pretty killer but the mashed potatoes were instant. We got breaded mushrooms and they were ok but also some were still frozen at the center. That's kind of the whole story, some great and then an equal part of meh. Another thing to note, I'm 40, but I was at least 20 years younger than the next youngest person in there. It was a veritable sea of retirees. It was busy but i doubt anyone but us ease under 60. That's the kind of place it is. Good not great, cheap not stellar. But that also is what left me extremely happy, some nostalgia, it felt like places my grandparents would take me when I was a kid. It fed my soul in a weird way and made me happy. And I will be back, 100% for sure. I loved it but it also wasn't special and I hope you can understand my trains of thought.

Geez neither us been here for LONG time. Maybe 50 or more years. Pecan pie coming first. Jumbo Shrimp basket with mashed potatoes and corn. Pie is ok. Nice salad and shrimp.

Ummm ya so this place is different from other restaurants BUT THE FRIED CHICKEN IS AS DELICIOUS AS MOVIE THEATER POPCORN. it's straight up perfected like any small town restaurant could ever compete with it. Fast service, friendly people, and a popular place for the townspeople. Fries and mash potatoes are ok nothing special. Not at all like that crusted 100% straight hot fall off the bone chicken. FYI ORDER THE CHILI JUST MEAT AND BEANS THE BEST KIND.

Found this place while traveling cross country. It's got hometown cooking with old fashion food. The creamy root beer is worth a drive!

The burger I got was the chili burger it was ok nothing to write home about. Not bad for a small town. Get the regular burger though.

Basic staples priced right. Prompt service. Food was OK, $3 shake was very good. Lots of families with kids so noisy.

A choice I regret now. First of all, our server was great and friendly. The restaurant seems nice...The food is pretty pricey. We were planning on eating at several pizza places on this trip so I skipped the pizza on the menu, especially since they run $17 for a small 10in. Instead I ordered a shrimp basket. For $16 I got 6 miniature fried shrimp. Smaller than my thumb, and I have small hands. I've seen kids meals with more food. I finished my shrimp in less than 2 minutes. My basket also came with crinkle cut fries which were just as disappointing as all crinkle cut fries are. Other than the friendly service the only thing that saved this restaurant from getting less than 3 stars was my mom's Huge bowl of clam chowder and salad for $10. The red velvet cake for about $7 was good too. Overall though I wish we had picked a different restaurant as I still left hungry.

The place definitely has character - it's vintage with taxidermy everywhere. Polar bear, giraffe, bull, deer heads on the walls. Feels like you're eating in a hunting lodge. *Food*: I ordered the boneless ribeye, medium rare. It was an average steak - easy to chew, but had more fat than I'm used to and the flavor was nothing special. Didn't dislike it, but wouldn't call it memorable. My daughter got the steak sandwich and my wife got the steak burger. We all agreed the food was delicious at the time. *The catch*: A few hours later my wife and daughter both had upset stomachs. I just felt bloated. My son was fine. Could've been a one-off, but worth mentioning. *Price/Service*: Restaurant itself is pricey. Menu items are fair, but the steaks are expensive for what you get. Service was fair - nothing bad, nothing great. If you're passing through I-80 in Paxton and want the experience/vibe, it's a stop. If you're driving out of your way for "best steak in Nebraska", I'd keep going. The taxidermy is the main attraction.
