I usually never have an issue with this place, but today was a whole different experience. The ladies at the front desk were friendly and helpful as always, but it seemed like the guys in the back were really off their game. I ordered 21 five-gallon buckets of hydraulic fluid at the front desk and was told to head to the back for pickup. After waiting 45 minutes, I went inside to check on the delay, only to wait another 25 minutes in the back--and then was handed the completely wrong item. I totally understand that things can get hectic and mistakes happen, but when you're spending nearly $1,000 on just one type of product, you'd expect the process to be smoother. If you're planning to purchase a large quantity of anything here, I highly recommend calling ahead--maybe even twice--to confirm two things: that they have the right item and that it'll be ready when you arrive instead of doing it in person like I did... Had to come back to edit this AFTER we left. Proceeded to wait 20 extra minutes just to receive the right ones for them to "wrap them up properly".. HA THEY DID NOT. Not even close. Years ago this property use to belong to Lowe's, which is now at the Falls. But this was also an empty lot for so long that this new farming business took over. At first it was a great idea, I mean there is plenty of farming lands in Tennessee & Virginia. Thanks to the mountains of course. Enough talking about that; my real review, the reason I'm giving this place a 1 star. If I could I would drop this review even lower. First off, rude as fuck, no pun attended. You ask a real reasonable question just to get a rude comment/ reply back. Not only did my question not get answered, I also got a smart comment. Sorry for trying to save gas and going to the place to buy a lawn motor you just sold ten minutes earlier. So instead I called to see if it was available, which it wasn't. So then I asked if they would check out locations and apparently that seemed like 'too much' work that a comment was made. That I should do it myself- really? Okay so I don't get paid to look at other properties to see if they have something I need. Instead of talking and engaging in conversation with fellow workers, wouldn't it be best to actually make the customer happy? Clearly not. Went in on Tuesday afternoon to buy an edger. Took almost 45 minutes to find anyone to help. Got worse from there. They had the power head and one of the attachments, and I needed one more. The associate said he didn't know if the attachments were or order, or when they might come in. Went to the cashier line and all three were busy and no progress. Another 15 minutes wait to spend $500. One full hour spent dealing with poor communications and limited competence across the line. I would not recommend Rural King to anyone I know, and won't be back to get the additional attachment. read more

The best prices and the biggest selection around. By far my favorite store! Their brand candy is really good, they give you popcorn, always have a good supply of guns and ammo, automotive section has some of the best prices around, and the employees are always nice. The only "negative" if you'd even call it a negative, is if you get their brand blue jeans I'd try them on first, I have to get 2 sizes bigger than what I wear in wranglers, but for $10 you absolutely don't get a better deal than that and I own probably 5 pair, it's nice to have blue jeans that I don't feel bad for getting dirty or ripping. Of course that's not even mentioning the actual farm part of the store, they have absolutely everything you could think of. It's basically a bigger tractor supply with better stuff for about half the price. I'm so glad they put one in Norton, I was going to the one in Bluefield and Bristol so it's great to have one just 10 minutes away! read more

I wish I could give them a minus 5 stars. Absolutely was excited to see Rural King in Bristol VA open we had big plans to buy a lot of things there. I called to ask if they still had the mower in stock that I was interested in and the guy abruptly says no it's gone we sold the last one. Trying to be nice I just said no problem can you check the Morristown TN location and see if they have one in stock before I drive all the way there and they don't. His reply was buddy I'm working on a tractor right now and can't, you can get on a computer and do it just as easy as I can. I being angered at this point because of his tone and complete uncaring attitude towards me, I said are you the only one that works there can you transfer me to someone who can then he lies and says no one can do that we don't know their inventory from here and I'm not going to bother someone else with it. So I call the other store and no one answers no matter what Dept number I hit it just rings then goes back to the auto attendant. I call back to Bristol VA in hopes of getting another person to answer well not a chance same disrespectful person answers but now he's busy fixing a tractor but he's the only one who can answer a phone there. I ask one more time is their anyone else who can use a computer and help me he replied "NO WERE ALL JUST A BUNCH OF DUMB HILLBILLY HICKS HERE IN VIRGINIA" I replied sounds like it from my side of the phone and hung up. I received an email that my online order was ready to pick up. I drive 12 miles to the store. A young man offered to help, he checked 3 cabinet in the front of the store and my order wasn't there. Girl at register ask him to check the back. He found 1 if 3 belts that I ordered. I showed her my email and my original "order confirmation " she said sorry, we only have the 1. I said ok whatsoever I do now? Can you give me a refund? She said I can give you a number to call. I said ok please. I pulled out my phone and she gave me the number. I stood there dialing the number. She said something to another employee about my order not being right. I said no they kept 2/3 of it, I'm going to call while I'm here because I need the belts or my money. She said we can't do that. I said I'm not leaving until I know something. I stood behind her register on hold for 25 minutes. I'm still on hold and she comes up and offers my money back. What a piece of crap! Why didn't they do it to start with? Don't go up there!
