Horrible staff communication and just absolutely rude and uncaring. People go there for mental health counseling that NEED the help and when the staff can't even call to get you checked in and your constantly having to call them and then they cancel your appointment without leaving a message, it starts to wear on you. I asked them are they not allowed to leave a message and she was just sharp and rude and said, "nope we are!" And was like it wasn't a big deal to her that I had been waiting for a phone call to be checked in to talk to my therapist who I really needed to talk to and wasn't prepared not to see because no one bothered to tell me! It shouldn't be a hassle to get help. Then when you have had enough and you ask that all your appointments be cancelled, there is no apology, or hey can we work something out, it is sure have a great day and they hang up on you! I didn't even get to get a message to my therapist to say I apologize for cancelling that's it not her I am canceling on but the office. If you are looking for compassion when being greeted by phone especially on a bad day when you think you're about to get help from your counselor, don't expect it here. read more

Horrible, unprofessional service. If you try to call them, even during business hours, they will often not answer the phone. If you leave a message, they will not get back to you for weeks, if even at all. At one point, there was a staff turnover, and there was no communication between the previous psychiatrist and the new one. No records were kept. They have even tried to send me a bill that I already paid. Rural Psychiatry has been an absolute nightmare to deal with. If you can, please save yourself the trouble. read more

I had some testing done for ADHD, I had my initial consultation with one psychiatrist, who was great!!! when I scheduled the follow up I scheduled it with the same provider as he already had my history. They called me at least 5 times right before, the appointment while I was in a meeting they wanted to make sure I could get logged on and check me in. When I went to log into the telehealth appointment I noticed it wasn't the provider I had started with or even scheduled with. so I called and all they said was oh yeah your provider is sick today so we just rescheduled you with this provider. They didn't happen to mention that in the phone call to get me checked in. I was in utter shock and could not believe what was happeningI the provider was already logging on so I went through with the appointment but she asked me all the same questions the original provider did,at least look at his notes to get some background. Not even a heads up or a courtesy call. Working in the mental health field this is a TERRIBLE practice I would never just schedule my clients with another provider even when I go to my general practitioner they would never do that. Now I am trying to get my records sent to sanford for my general practitioner and I have had to call 3 times to get them sent. They claim it is on Sanfords end. I went here for an ADHD test. I stared at a screen and hit a button. Took less than an hour. I have received 3 bills (as of now) equaling $515. I called to ask why I have received 3 bills for one test and a phone call. They told me one bill was for the test, the other 2 bills were for the 5 minute phone call...When she told me she didn't think I had ADHD the results leaned more toward anxiety, they charged me TWICE, once for telling me it wasn't ADHD, and once for saying it leaned towards anxiety. I ALREADY KNEW I HAD ANXIETY, I'V HAD IT FOR 15 YEARS!!! They charged me $132 for a diagnosis I already had and NEVER asked for. More con-artist bills are probably still coming... read more

My sister is bi polar schizophrenia and was a patient at Altru and on her discharge she was to follow up with Megan at rural psychiatry. I called and left messages no one called me back!! Would not recommend Rural Psychiatry under any circumstance. I am a college student and medical care is obviously expensive. I set up appointments bi-monthly to lower the expense and have to call in certain medication monthly if my Dr. forgets to send it to the pharmacy (as he often did). I called this past month since my pharmacy said it had not been sent. I was then told that I would have to make an appointment in order to refill my medication. When I asked why this was, I was told that new policy had been set into place within the past week and I would have to make monthly appointments to refill my medication from now on. I told the nurse over the phone that I understood, but wanted a copy of the policy as I though this was very odd. She told me she would mail me a copy and I ended the call. A few days later, I received a copy of the patient clinician agreement I had signed in 2019... I was obviously irritated because why would I want to see a document I had already signed that was from a year ago. I specifically requested a copy of the new policy that had been put into place the week prior. I left a message and got a call back a day later. We argued over the phone, and I admit I lost my temper as she kept repeating herself and seemingly could not understand the source of my frustration. Because of this argument, she terminated my account citing "abuse of medication" (makes absolutely no sense), and being late to appointments (this part I understand, I did miss some appointments due to school and work). However, it seems very clear that the real reason Rural Psychiatry terminated my account was due to the argument on the phone and not the other reasons listed. I also have other disagreements with how they run their practice. Dr. Azar for example could not care less about his patients and seems content to write scripts and cash his check. The last dozen appointments I've had with him were all easily under two minutes during which he appeared uninterested. Another source of irritation was about a year ago when I asked for an increase in my medication. As soon as I suggested increasing the dosage, he looked up and said I had to take a "random" drug test (which I found hilarious, as if the requested increase in dosage had nothing to do with the drug test). I passed but had to pay for the test out of pocket... I have not requested for further increases or changes in medication out of fear that I will have to pay out of pocket again. Since my account is terminated, it looks like I won't have to worry about that. Long story short, if you value your time and money don't go here. Hopefully this was helpful to someone. read more
