Called…read moretwo local companies, BHF came out right away and did some measuring and suggested I do as much as I can to get the old unit out before ordering a new unit as it was going into a corner and it would help greatly if they could see what was behind the angled wall. I did that. The second company finally sent someone out to look. He looked, and looked and looked. Wrote down a lot of stuff and NEVER got back to me. In the meantime BHF came out again (for free) and this time had enough info to order a unit. When it came in they came out, removed the old unit completely, redid the gas line and electrical, even installed an outlet close to the new fireplace for a CO and smoke detector. They did it all without having to remove an existing mantle and big screen TV! They finished it right down to the drywall. I was able to do the mud and tape and put Airstone around the insert so it looks really good. Still have not heard back from the other place.

It took several days to get the parts and for the technician to return to complete the fix (we are in Spearfish). The following is a rough sequence of events and the terrible customer service we received. 8/27 We were supposed to get a call at 8am to tell us when the repair guy was supposed to come out. It was 9:15 with no notification so we called them. They answered and told us the estimated time was 2-4pm (not a big deal, we had plans later in the afternoon). 4 o'clock rolls around and he still hasn't shown up nor have we recieved a call stating he would be late. So we called them again at 4:05 to check and he says he's running about 30 minutes late. (A little irritated, but not to big a deal). He finally shows up and he takes a look at the washer saying that the fabric softener clogged the drain tube (first time I've ever heard of that but, ok) and that it is a motherboard issue. He tells us it is fixed and should work temporarily until we decide to order the part. They charge us $85 for 10-15min of work. We test the machine and it still doesn't work. We call them back and they schedule a secondary appointment for August 31st. 8/31 They call us about 9am to say that there is nothing they can do but order the part. At this point we are like okay just order the part. We asked if we could be refunded the $85 because he came and did nothing to our machine and it still had the same problem as before we called. They gave us some bullshit about how the experience was not how we made it seem, that the $90 was for a insurance charge if we got the part installed and broke within a 90 day period. We decided to not order the part and still wanted our money back (Would have accepted a little less due to gas usage and time) all they did was yell back at us and said that there was nothing they could do. 100% NEVER using this place again with their bullshit customer service.

When they sent the bill it was $700 plus tax. I called and spoke with the office manager who wanted to know who did the original quote, I did not have the name of the person nor did i get a written quote. Someone else got on an extension stated they don't leave the building for less than $275.00. they both had a rude and condescending attitude. These guys are crooks. If you use them make sure to get a written estimate. I take full blame for using this company but we will not be using them for anything else. You have been warned.
