UNSAFE DOG FOOD. I come here to buy dog food here every once in a while and this last time I went, I bought a 31 lb bag of Purina One. There are BUGS in the bag I got. I started noticing little bugs in my dogs bowl and immediately dumped it. I open the airtight container where I store it, saw about 5 more at first. Then go to the remainder of the bag, many more bugs. Absolutely fcking disgusting. It also smells HORRID. I am so disappointed after spending that money on the giant bag that it is full of bugs and smells disgusting. read more

I'm definitely a tourist in a feed store, being about as "townie" as one can get. I hesitate to offer a review for that reason. But, figure maybe some other townies out there might enjoy visiting a feed store to enjoy looking at the chicks or bunnies, especially if you have little kiddos. When my bio kids were little, we got our dog at a feed store in Arlington. I have no experience with livestock otherwise, but this place is always busy and the staff seem friendly. My step daughter is always game for a trip inside to see what they have in the animal room. Sometimes there's a baby pig, or tiny chicks. They don't mind you petting the little guys. Other than that, idk. Lots of animal feed and other country stuff. I think I must feel in here they way a non-musician feels in Guitar Center. It's all kinda background-ish blah-blah farm items I don't really have a use for in my suburban lifestyle. Still I've been in here a half dozen times to see the animals. read more

Went to get mice, worst experience ever. I love that they have volunteers but teach your volunteers to be friendly. I asked one guy that was sweeping for help, he stated "I don't work here" so we go ask a lady that had a clipboard if she could help, her response was "I'm busy, find someone else". Finally I went and asked another girl that looked like she worked there for help for a THIRD TIME. She looked at me, didn't say a word and walked away. Awful experience, never been to Russell Feed before and will not be back. I get treated better at a dollar tree. I think I was more surprised at how UNHELPFUL everyone there was. I love this place! I was always hesitant to go into stores like this and never thought I'd actually need to but I'm hooked now! My dog had a bad food allergy and after spending tons of money trying to figure out the problem and trying every expensive brand at petsmart, I finally read that Taste of the Wild was a good food, especially for dogs with allergies. The only place I found near me that sells it was here and not only did the food work wonders but I find myself looking forward to coming here. It has everything! Things you never knew you needed. Not to mention I fell in love with the little pink pot bellied pig they had for sell. It's gone now :( they also sell silkie chickens!! (Google them! You won't regret it!) The staff is very helpful, too. They knew all about food allergies and helped me in my situation. After getting a recommendation from a guy at Fort Woof, I visited this afternoon. To my delight they had a variety of dog, cat, bird, horse and small fuzzy creatures items. I think the price was a little high for some of the usual dog food my dogs eat. However on other items such as pigs ear, bully stick and a variety of leashes & collars; I was quite shocked of well valued everything was. Dear Manager (Tammy), Let's recap what happened.... I purchased the display 3-saddle rack with a price tag on it for 80 bucks. Your employee then ran in parking lot saying she sold me the rack(that had a price tag on it) by mistake and took it back from me out of my truck. When I went inside and discussed with you how wrong this was and encouraged you to "rethink" your decision and sell me the rack, you blamed your employee. Ridiculous decision. Ridiculous. Would love to give this establishment negative stars but that's not allowed, first I'll start by saying I spend quite a bit of money on my animals and every 2 weeks when I go to eat more dog food for them (Victor) they have changed the price up a dollar here or 75 cents there. I usually just let it slide (now I know I can get the same dog food at Atwood's, down the street for $5 cheaper) but today I have had enough. I went in to get my dog their monthly supply of glucosamine pills which upon last purchase were $10.99, this time they were $13.99. Now I thought that seems like a bit of a jump but I understand the cost of inflation at times but the woman that was checking me out stated that she was going to price check the others on the shelf. When she returned she was extremely rude saying that the price is ACTUALLY $23.99 and then insinuated that SOMEONE had switched the prices. I informed her that that is absolutely ridiculous when I paid $10.99 for it at last purchase that you are telling me there is a 120% price mark up let alone accused me for switching price tags. The price tag was placed exactly where all the other price tags on the bottles were on the cap. It's service like this that kills small businesses. You expect people to come to shop at your store and buy your goods when you can't even make sure that you price things correctly. What really gets me though, is accusing the customer (me) of switching price tags. How disrespectful and insulting. Congratulations you just lost a customer that spends a $100-$150 in your store bi-weekly. Not to mention my grandparents and parents who spend $1000's buying Feed from you. The staff here is always very helpful. I have two very large dogs, and I have to buy a large bag of food atleast once a week. Everytime I go in there, someone offers to carry my 60lb bag of dog food and put it in my car, and I've yet to have any altercations with rude staff. The prices are great, and a little more reasonable than your big box pet store. My family has been coming here for years, and will continue to do so. read more

This store is full of friendly texans willing to help in not only helping you find what you're looking for but also helping you take it to your vehicle. They also have a small selection of animals to choose from. Their selection depends on the breeding season of animals. They do have rabbits, plenty of birds, rodents, ducks, a few types of lizards turtles and more. read more

As I walked in this store for the first time with my 2 children each person working there smiles and asks how I'm doing. My autistic son starts having a full on meltdown, screaming, trying to throw himself around as I'm holding him. Typically I get dirty, judgemental looks and anything but good service when this happens, I'm sure people think he's just a bratty kid but the fact is he cannot help it. The people here were so kind and helpful. One of the ladies asked what I was looking for and took me to the area, grabbed what I needed and I followed her to the checkout. Another lady came around the counter and asked if she could hold him for me to help out. At this point my daughter, the friendly kid who has never met a stranger, asks to be held. The lady picked her up and kept her entertained so I could finish paying without worrying about her trying to wander off as I struggle to hold my son and get my wallet out of my purse. The people here were genuinely kind, helpful and went above and beyond what anybody would typically ever do. Sometimes it's the small things, but these people made my day. Thank you to all of the people working 2-3-17 around 5pm. You are exceptional people!! Side note the product I bought was a great price and great quality as well. I buy (bought) my dog food from Russell on Jacksboro Hwy, even though their prices are through the roof. My dog has a cut, which they recommended a product for that didn't work. I went to return it today and the first thing the girl said was, "Wow. It usually works." Well, it didn't for me. She then had to ask the girl working next to her if I could return it, and SHE questioned whether it worked like I was lying about it! I went in 4 days after my purchase and had my receipt. It's not for you to question whether or not it worked on my dog, I know. The girl who questioned me the 2nd time VERY RUDELY told her to go ask the manager. What? I had a receipt and it shouldn't even mattered why. She then asks if my card was debit or credit, and said she would need to give me cash due to it being debit, in which I agreed to. After the she did a return transaction for cash, the girl next to her told her she can't do that and the return was to be on my card. I told them it didn't matter how, I just needed my refund. A manager (?) was then asked what she should do, and he said give cash. I usually walk away from rude people, guessing they may be having a bad day, however she was extremely rude from the time I walked to the counter and I let him know they need to properly train their employees and that she was rude, he said he would take care of it, when he didn't even ask what the problem was. I will not buy a thing from this store again. If you have a bad attitude, feel the need to scrutinize customers or don't appear to like people in general, then DON'T WORK IN CUSTOMER SERVICE!! read more

I'm sure that this store is great for general feed and seed, but they also sell small animals (such as rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens, etc). Buyer BEWARE!!! I purchased 2 guinea pigs with all the accessories (a purchase worth over $150.00) and exactly 9 days later one of the guinea pigs died in his sleep. According to the store manager, these animals have NEVER been examined by a veterinarian. Had I known that before I purchased them, I wouldn't have bought them there. Horrible customer service when I called to explain what happened, and I was accused of mistreating the animal. I asked for a refund of $15 (the cost of the one guinea that died) and was told no because they have a 24-hour return policy. The incubation period for many diseases that guinea pigs are subject to is 5-10 days, so a 24-hour return policy makes no sense. Clearly, this guinea pig was sick when we left the store. DO NOT BUY ANIMALS FROM THIS STORE! read more
