In my experience as a first-time client of Melissa's Prestigious Pawz in Fort Worth, several aspects of our interaction raised concerns for me regarding communication, professionalism, and billing transparency. During our initial conversations, Melissa referenced her previous work with Eli Lilly when discussing animal care. While I respect professional experience, the way this was presented felt dismissive of my own long experience as a pet owner. For example, she strongly criticized the heartworm prevention product I have used responsibly for over 20 years with multiple dogs and suggested that products she prepares herself are preferable. From my perspective, the conversation felt somewhat condescending. When I scheduled boarding for our pets (three dogs and one cat), I also scheduled grooming for my cocker spaniel. At the time of booking, I explained that she had been digging in the yard after a large storm and would likely need extra grooming attention. She had been professionally groomed approximately 6-8 weeks earlier at PetSmart in Weatherford. I also shared that due to several difficult personal circumstances--including the recent passing of my father on February 28, my own cancer diagnosis and treatment, and my husband's cancer diagnosis and treatment--we had not been able to bathe her before bringing her in. I shared this simply to provide context. While we were out of town, Melissa contacted me stating that my dogs were "covered in ticks." This surprised me because our dogs have lived in multiple rural homes over the years, have been groomed regularly their entire lives, and have never had ticks. We currently live in a gated community where our home receives regular pest control, and our dogs sleep in our garage where we have not observed insects. When I asked for photos, the images that were sent appeared to show ticks in a container rather than clearly on the dogs themselves. During that call, I was informed that we would be responsible for paying to have the facility sprayed due to the ticks she believed came from our dogs. Because we were already traveling, we agreed to additional treatments for the dogs, including baths and chemical dips, and I was later told they had been dipped twice. Another concern for us involved billing transparency. We purchased pet food at the time we dropped our pets off and paid for it then, but we were charged again for the same food when we picked them up. Our final bill was approximately $2,000, and we were not provided with an itemized invoice explaining the charges. Without an itemized statement, it was difficult for us to understand how the total was calculated. Despite boarding multiple pets, there was no multi-pet discount offered. For comparison, the pet sitter who normally stays at our home--who unfortunately was unavailable during this trip--charges $80 per day to care for all of our pets combined. After this experience, I read through other reviews and noticed that responses from the business often attribute concerns to customer misunderstanding rather than acknowledging possible issues. During our own interactions, communication felt difficult at times, as conversations were often interrupted and it was challenging to fully explain concerns. Overall, based on my personal experience, this situation raised questions for me about communication practices, treatment authorization, and billing documentation. Anyone considering boarding services may want to ask detailed questions about these policies ahead of time. The photos we received that were described as evidence of ticks are included. I love Melissa's and my pup does too! He has such a wonderful time at doggy daycare and they take such good care of him! He loves all the wonderful ladies that work there and I know they love him. They tell me every time! I have gotten several grooms for my chipit and never had any problems and he's always squeaky clean and smells amazingggg!! I wouldn't take my baby anywhere else!! He looked great, I have finally found a groomer I'm really happy with and on a side note my pup seemed a lot less stressed than he normally is. I took my dog to their new location and was greeted by 2 un-friendly employees. I was scared to leave him but i went against my gut and did anyways. When I picked him up, I immediately noticed his right eye was extremely bloody. I drove him straight to the vet who confirmed it was not an infection and it was due to trauma. After calling Melissa, the owner, she claimed she was spiritual and could sense my anxiety which bled into my dog. I told Melissa after the vet verifying it was trauma and doing research, my dog was choked at her business. She refused to take any responsibility for her and her employees actions. We travel out of town often and leave our dogs with Melissa's all the time. We have two big German shepherds and never had an issue! Our dogs get to play and interact with other dogs during there stay. We are at peace of mind knowing our babies are well taken care of. read more

Terrible experience . I was quoted $94 for my standard poodle. Girl informed me it could be more depending on Dogs coat condition . My Dogs coat is brushed everyday he is groomed one time a month . Dog had zero mating and is in really good condition . I Was asked to drop off my dog at 10 am couple of days later and I did . My dog did not require much work . All I asked for was to clean him up and cut very little as I like his coat to stay fluffy . The only reason I took my dog to Melissa's was because the lady who originally cuts it was on vacation. His grooming usually takes about two to 3 hrs , well at Mellissas it took 8hrs and 45 min!!! I called them 4hrs after I dropped him off , girl told me groomer was running late with him as his coat was a bit difficult for her. She asked me to give them more time and said they would call me later . 3 o'clock,4 o'clock ,5 o'clock no call ever came . I decided to drive to Melissa's , same girl who quoted me $94 was nervous and said he is not ready let me check with groomer , she came back and said it had been taking the groomer longer because your dog has been very Ipsy , has he ever been groomed before ? I politely told her yes he is groomed ones a month he is actually a very good dog and he is very well behaved , she asked me if I could give them More time , 6 o clock came nothing , girl called me at around 6:45 (place closes at 6) informing me he was ready , all this time I was parked Outside as I was very anxious to see if my dog was ok . Dog comes out and he looked in good spirits and I can tell he was treated well . But big BUT !!!!!!! I'm charged $194 for a very simple cut when I'm charged $120 with my dogs original groomer who does a way better job in less time for an unmated coat . Girls we're nervous Making all sort of excuses why it had taken so much, said he was matted , then because my dog was to hyper , then because groomer was afraid to cut him , then because groomer was afraid to over cut his hair . I don't like to argue and at this point what for ? The damage was done . Got my doggie and left . I feel Melissa's doesn't have the experience and does not have what it takes to groom a standard poodle . They failed . 8 and 45 min for a groom is unacceptable . $194 for the kind of work they do is unacceptable . read more

My dog stayed for 14 days at $40/day. Upon check-in, they take your dog to the back and you have to fill out their paperwork and sign a few things. Once your dog is at the back, they can't bring your dog back out so you can say goodbye. They give you an option to give your dog CBD for anxiety and the bones they sell (I chose the $5 or 6 dollar ones) just in case your dog needs it. I wasn't allowed to bring her bed, her toys, or anything from home. They said they provide everything there. I wasn't shown any of the things they said they provided. I took their word for it. I was shown the place where my dog would be, but a tour wasn't allowed (you can't go inside. They open an observation window showing the crates where the dogs will sleep in). Every time I call to check on my dog, the staff are so nice and assuring that my dog is okay, she's nice to everyone, making friends, playing with other dogs, and happy. They have a Facebook page where they posted 4 photos of my dog on two different days for me to see. I received a call from the owner while I was in Mexico and she told me they forgot to follow my feeding instructions. She asked me if it was okay to feed her lamb. I said yes. She was apologetic and I was gracious because to err is human. They bathed her and trimmed her nails - a homecoming bath is an extra charge. I picked her up and I was told they had to charge a 10-dollar fee because the groomer needed assistance. They said my dog tried to bite her. My dog has been there before for grooming and I was not charged any assistance fee nor was told my dog had tried to bite the groomer. They also gave her CBD - another charge. I did not get the remaining CBD that I was charged for since the lady at the front counter pointed at the product inside the glass case to my right showing me what was given to my dog. I was being charged for the bag of food they had given her because she ran out of food since they forgot to follow my feeding instructions. I asked the lady to deduct that from my fee. I asked for an itemized receipt- they do not provide that. I asked if they provide military discounts- they do not provide that either. The staff assisted me to bring the rest of my dog's belongings to my car. Total cost: $626.92. read more

I would never recommend this place for grooming. My 7 month old Bernedoodle was left half groomed and chopped up, they took some of the most beautiful parts of her, shaved her paws into triangles and her face they shaved around her eyes and could have seriously damaged her and then said they couldn't complete the rest because she moved too much. I had to take to her another groomer to finish the terrible job. It was an awful experience. They obviously have no experience with the Bernedoodle. read more

The only thing I asked for was for them not to shave my doodle, or "poodle my doodle". I showed a picture of what I wanted for reference and came back to a completely shaved doodle.. I could even see her skin in some places. I paid before seeing her and they charged me $15 dollars for what they initially said was "minimal matting" I thought okay whatever and paid without arguing. After seeing her I was in tears because she didn't even look like my dog.. I proceeded to let them know how unhappy I was with her cut, and stated this was exactly what I had asked not to happen. They then changed their story and said she had so much matting they had to shave her. It was an awful experience for me and I have never left any business a bad review but they handled it so unprofessionally and the owner even called to blame me for letting my dog get matted. Absolutely love going to Melissa's. The owner is so sweet and they always do such a great job grooming and taking care of the babies.

Updated as of 12/08/18....After going to the same groomer for over 12 years I had to find a new groomer. Anyone who knows me, KNOWS I am a loyal customer and refuse to change my small business favorites. I was heart broken because we love our old groomer. So after joining the neighborhood Facebook page I asked for neighborhood recommendations that were not Petsmart because of the recent news feed that 47 dogs died after being groomed there. That and they are super expensive! So after several people recommended Melissa's Prestigious Pawz I contacted her via Facebook messenger to make an appointment. She was super sweet, very accommodating, nice and professional; however she seemed to be interested more in advertising what else she sold than to book an appointment for my babies. I finally got an set up an appointment for all my 3 fur babies on 12/01/18 @ 9am. It took a little extra time because I had to fill out paperwork. Kinda wished she would have emailed me these pages to pre fill/print out before coming in. So note to self, go in to spend an extra 20 minutes for multiple dogs to fill out paperwork. The front desk greeter Kim was super nice. Kim was so sweet to my babies and did the perfect greeting by getting down on the floor, speaking softly and letting the dogs come to her. The fact that my big stinkers Bella and Bucky didn't growl or bark like banshees was amazing! I also met the groomer Stephanie and gave her a few instructions that my previous groomer sent along with me. She was also super sweet with my babies. The shop is amazing. This business is so much more than a doggy daycare, boarding, and grooming facility. She offers training and doggy accessories. As well as all types of natural foods and even doggy yogurt! My Hagrid went straight for a big bone. That of course I had to buy before leaving! I have to spoil my babies duh! Also bought smaller ones for my smaller babies. She has super cute Christmas collars, doggy clothes along with much more! She is also a breeder of English and French Bulldogs. Per her Facebook posts she seems to really care about her dogs she is breeding and her business. So I was hopeful but still nervous because I am ALL about my dogs. If they get hurt or mistreated I go Mama Bear mode on anyone and everyone. Just ask my husband lol. I even advised them that 2 of my loves had sensitive skin and needed hypoallergenic dog shampoo. It was $5 more but I would pay a million dollars to not make them itch like crazy after a bath. My old groomer didn't charge extra for that but what choice do I have. It would be like a diabetic drinking a regular coke in order to save a few bucks because the diet coke is $5. I refuse to save a few bucks and let my babies suffer. I understand that business need to make up cost so I was not too upset about the extra $10 for two of my loves. I also showed the groomer pictures of what my Bucky looked like after the last grooming appointment from my last groomer. She asked very great questions and I was very impressed with all her probing questions. I did ask how long the appointment would take but Kim informed me that since this was their first time with them, they wished to take their time. After 5 hours I was pleasantly surprised. I am not going to lie I was expecting a lot. I have high standards and want my monies worth. I even bought ham bones as treats for my loves. After I paid I asked Kim for a itemized receipt showing all charges and taxes. I was told that Melissa would email me one on Monday. Well Monday came and went. I IMed via Facebook on Wednesday 12/05 morning and again was informed by Melissa she would email one shortly because she was on a new system. I FINALLY received and "estimate invoice" that afternoon and was confused. I was not informed that desheding would be extra!? And the invoice had one amount but I was charged I was $9.33 more. AND this did not say Invoice or receipt but rather "estimate". I contacted Melissa again via Facebook. She seemed bothered by my inquiries and even said to just contact the business number. Because and I quote "I have a resounding message to contact the office directly." That did not set right with me. Instead of saying please contact the office they will help due to me being out of office she seemed bothered. Uneasiness started to creep into my spirit. I normally check out reviews on Yelp but there was not any for this business. So I based her business off her Facebook and recommendation from neighbors. I finally decided to look at Google reviews. They did not paint a good light of her. Even an ex-employee posted something that as a Christian woman did not sit right with me. Needless to say this week worth of interactions has left a not so favorable view of this business owner. Not so much her staff but her specifically. We have a rescue with EXTREME special psychological needs and they went way out of their way to accommodate her!! She is terrified of food bowls and ANY sounds she isn't used to. She is still afraid to drink from her water bowl, but has come to terms with the fact that it has to happen. They post pictures of your babies on line daily so that you can see how they are doing. My dogs used to be absolutely terrified every time they got into the car, but now they are happy because they are probably going to see their friends at Melissa's! Even the rescue is not as trepidatious to get in the car and starts to wag her tail when we arrive! This fact tells me more about the place than their staff ever could. read more
