Since then, I've made more than a dozen attempts to get compensation, including several visits to the store, phone calls to the UPS complaint numbers, and emails. I have an official "claim number" from UPS, but the only substantive response is a verbal reply from the store manager that they weren't able to provide any compensation for the loss.
