I prefer getting financial advice from him vs a regular 'financial advisor' who almost always has to defer you to a tax specialist anyway

Bottom line: I'm delighted to give Liebert Associates my very highest recommendation without any…read morereservations whatsoever. And, that's coming from a do-it-yourselfer like me who has a life long history of finding it all too easy to utterly despise accountants and account executives. A little less briefly, it gives me great pleasure to most enthusiastically recommend Liebert Associates for tax & accounting services for a variety of sound reasons. I started working with Mr. Liebert five years ago, when I took a new job in Manhattan while maintaining a family in Philadelphia. Both my wife and I also run small consulting businesses, so after 15 happy years of doing-it-myself with TurboTax, we needed help. Complexity increased when both my wife and I lost our parents and inherited a variety of assets in different states. Things went from bad-to-worse-to-seemingly impossible when my wife took possession of family trusts that were bewildering for a person like me to understand. (I'm a nuclear medicine physician.) I've been a full professor in two Ivy League universities. By those standards, Brian Liebert is extremely smart--4 or 5 sigma. So is his partner, Sally Trauco. They have enormous funds of knowledge about taxes. Their ability to manipulate information quickly to create innovative solutions, and get the job done, is even more impressive. They are consistently responsive (wow!) with quick turn around times. And, they've stood by us. Brian has settled several IRS inquiries within a few days with on-target communications that strike remarkable balances between conciseness, decisiveness, and collegiality with the IRS professionals. Perhaps as importantly, Brian and Sally are warm, kind, and easily approachable. Their social IQ's are conspicuously extraordinary, and it shows whenever they need to correct something I've done that's stupid (which is not all that infrequently). They have genuinely mature senses of humor. I've always been amazed at how well Brian seems to remember me and my wife. Sally also has a memory like an elephant, and a charming talent for communicating a lot of happy thoughts in a brief passage (unlike me). It's remarkable that an on-line service can show a personal interest in their clients. After 5 great years, we're confident you're going to greatly enjoy working with them. P. David Mozley, MD

First off, HR Block cannot transfer online records to their brick and mortar offices. This is baffling, as they're such a large company they should be able to access my customer records regardless. Secondly, The representative that I worked with (Mohammed) was very unprepared for the meeting. He asked no questions about my financial history. He came off as knowledge-less of the intricacies of tax preparation - not the feeling you want from your tax professional. Our 1 hour meeting took 1:45. Luckily I was organized with my documentation, or else we would have been there for 3 hours. His computer skills were horrendous; typing with 1 finger at a time, he made several errors entering just my personal information. Only because I was over his shoulder and correcting him was I able to move the meeting along. I continued to break down my own documentation into more detail to speed the process along, but it didn't help. Thirdly, in the course of this extremely long, uninformative, uninspiring meeting, my refund amount changed 4 TIMES. I'm not talking about the "potential refund" amount that changed as we went through the process; Mohammed told me what my refund would be 4 times, differently, and asked me to sign paperwork. Another professional had to come over and help him, and even then there was confusion and uncertainty. This was extremely disconcerting. How can I be confident that my return was done correctly? Lastly, There was no disclosure about the fees for their preparation. It cost $240 for my federal and state preparation. They gave me $20 off the preparation fee "because we feel bad" about the service level. Had I known that this was the service level at this price, I would have QUICKLY turned around and saved money doing it myself. Which is essentially what I did anyways. In essence, H&R should have paid me by the hour to be there. I was not confident in my service and I'll be having another, better-vetted tax pro look at our returns. I'm not returning to this office, or H&R Block in general, again for tax services.

I instantly…read morefelt comfortable around her; she was easy to talk to and listened, really listened to what you were saying. After meeting her and hearing about her services; I thought, how cool is she? Now - fast forward... Have you ever been (driving, sitting, staring into space) and think to yourself; what am I doing? I did that everyday for entirely too long, and then one of those days I remembered JULIE! I wasn't sure if she was the right person to talk to, but figured if she wasn't, she could point me in the right direction. I called her with one question, "What am I doing with my career in life?" I felt lost, and out of sorts. For once in my life, I really wasn't sure if the path I was on, was the right one for me, and I needed a professional to coach me. I needed direction from someone I trusted, and trusting Julie was very easy for me to do. After our initial conversation, a barrage of things came out - things I thought had nothing to do with my career/life question. One week we're talking about a business plan, the next week, it was anxiety and mental ticks; how to approach a difficult conversation with coworkers, superiors and my husband; what could potentially be the next step for me; entrepreneurship?, writing a business plan, my marriage ceremony! We covered A LOT. And this isn't therapy folks, this is a trusted partner who has a crazy amount of experience in life who helps you. I.E. she is a true coach. If you still aren't sold; think about playing a sport, you have a coach right, someone who might show you a different way to look at a play, or help you with your form, or listen to what you are saying, and translate it back to what they heard. This is what Julie does. And she does it well... Very well. And much like any coach - the work that was done between sessions; it was hard, don't let me fool you, she isn't going to walk into your life and throw some pixie dust on you and call it done. Some of the issues that surfaced were deeply personal and hurt to talk about. But those were my personal road blocks. And with Julie's help, I have overcome them, and work everyday to keep overcoming them. IMO; Julie can coach through work and life issues and everything in between. I am a different person than who I was four or five months ago. I am more passionate at work, a better wife to my husband, and have found my creative mojo again. Trust me, if you need a nudge to get yourself back on track. Call Julie, you won't regret it.
