I have been coming to Russell Stover for years when I road trip through Kansas but this is the first time I've taken my kids. It's a nice store with some bulk options that you can get in the back. It's good to go after holidays to get some of your favorite treats on discount although when we went after Christmas nothing was marked down yet. I like getting boxes of bloopers as gifts because it's essential a chocolate roulette game which is kind of fun. read more

VERY expensive. I don't understand with the plant right there how they can be even more expensive than you get in a grocery store! Even the sale bulk candy is super high priced. Christmas candy in July should be cheap - but it isn't ! Also as someone mentioned, the help is rude and unfriendly. read more

Passing by on the outside, you'd never guess that this Russell Stover building has an amazing chocolate store inside...definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area... As soon as you walk in, the mood changes quickly as you see a plethora of Russell Stover Chocolate and other candy offerings. Think mega outlet mall for Russell Stover candies. I'm a big fam of their sugar free chocolate and jellybean offerings. They taste just as sweet and the sugared products. They had an ice cream station but didn't have any in stock unfortunately. No worries as I immediately pivoted to a chocolate candy apple covered in crushed nuts, fantastic. The cheap prices make it easy to justify any purchase out of there. We would not have known Russel Stover was in Abilene had it not been for the guy narrating the train ride, he talked up all kinds of places in and around Abilene. The employees were friendly and engaging, they serve Blue Bell ice cream and we enjoyed that. Russel Stover chocolate is ok, but stopping at the candy store was fun, it is worth stopping. read more

On my recent Abilene roadtrip, this Chocolate shop came up as a fun place to visit! Super glad that I went as they had a wide assortment of candy. If you head towards the back they have boxes of "bloopers" which are candies that didn't pass the aesthetic standards and sold for a discount. They also sell specially packaged chocolates if you really want to impress someone as well as candy apples, fudge, and stuffed animals. There are 4 factory stores in the Missouri/ Kansas area and if you plan to visit Ike's Presidential Museum you should load up on some sweets! read more

I used to not think much of Russell Stover chocolates, because we'd get them from friends and neighbors over the years, but they were a never "gotta have it treat," UNTIL I moved to Kansas and discovered all of the Russell Stover factory stores!!! Oh my, YES!!! They are these quaint little red brick shops, scattered around Kansas and Missouri, filled with Russell Stover Chocolates! Russell Stover Ice Creams! Russell Stover Custom Candies! Russell Stover Sugar Free Items! All the chocolatey and candy goodness is there, in one store! Their products are all fresh and tasty, unlike going to the grocery or Hallmark stores for them, where they don't taste as good. Needless to say, it became my *happy place* each week! lol You are given a free sample, once you walk in the door and greeted by some of the sweetest staff! It's heaven really! Some stores even have these bundles of "bloopers" bags or boxes, that are sold for cheaper, because they weren't perfect! At fractions less...what do I care, cuz they all still taste delicious! Lol. What a fun time! If you've been getting boxes of these chocolates your entire life stop by their mega store and outlet to indulge in some fresh chocolate. They have every variety you can imagine so you can leave with a huge box of your favorite chocolates or treats. The also have a "bloopers" section in the back of their store which feature their not so perfect pieces that you can buy at a fraction of the costs. Don't fret - these pieces still taste delicious and make great gifts as they're packaged as if you purchased them off a store shelf. I was able to buy an assorted box sampler for o love you $2.49! In addition I bought some pecan turtles and a caramel apple that they make fresh in house. Looking for sugar free options? Don't worry they have walls and walls full of them. The store is amazing. Candy everywhere, it's a candy store so what do you expect. The back room is where you get the best deals. It's January and the Halloween candy discount is the same as the Christmas deals. Bloopers seem to be a good price but I'm not sure. We live in Michigan and our local supermarkets many times have boxes and individual wrapped candy of Russell Stovers at buy one get one free. So I'm not sure this is all that much of a savings but maybe for here it is. Of course I still bought items. On the counter we're free samples of chocolate. read more

A trip to the Russell Stover Candy Outlet wasn't on my itinerary when I planned my trip to Kansas, but someone suggested it and I had time so why not? Abilene is a bit of a drive from Kansas City, a little over 2 hours, but I don't think I'd drive out again unless it's on the way to another destination. The store itself had an interesting layout. Upon walking in, there was a video playing about the history of Russell Stover, but I wouldn't consider that a tour. In fact, there is NO tour. The middle of the store included many flavors of delicious ice cream, which of course I bought a generous scoop. Aisles of different types of Russell Stover Candies ranging from holiday classics to limited editions to the usual. The "outlet" items, some more rejected than others, were located in the back room section of the store. Those are heavily discounted and some of them were "surprise" packages sold in bulk labeled as "bloopers." I ended up buying the individual holiday chocolates with cool flavors such red velvet, caramel, pecan, dark, and etc. for my co-workers. These were easy to store in my carry-on luggage and they made great stocking stuffers. I enjoyed my visit here, I may stop by if it's along the way to pick up more "useful" and edible souvenirs. read more

This Russell Stover production and distribution facility has been a staple in this community for A LONG TIME! The two ladies that worked in the factory store have been there 20+ years! Over 900 people work in this facility where they make all manner of chocolate covered confections. The factory store has chocolates full price and deep discount, ice cream and sundaes, jelly beans, fudge and clean restrooms! We bought a bag of assorted goodies for $4...pretty good deal! In my opinion the chocolates from this company are overpriced, not quiet a Lindt. But their ice cream is very good, again expensive in today's current climate. But it's worth a visit for the ice cream and fudge. read more

Love, love, love this place! The ice cream is excellent and the candy selection is out of this world. I'd have to say my favorite part of this store is the GIANT clearance section in the back! All of the candy with wrappers from previous holidays, etc gets discounted and put in the clearance room for about 25-40% of the original cost! The staff is friendly, too. If you find yourself screaming across Kansas on I-70, you might want to consider jumping off at the Russel Stover Factory that sits facing the highway in Abilene. I couldn't find where there was any tours of the factory itself, but what will interest most is the store attached. The front of the store is a basic Russell Stover store, its the back room where bargain hunters like me will find bliss. All the discount stuff. There was stacks and stacks of Valentine, Easter and Halloween candies that were on medium to large discount prices. Along one was was white generic looking boxes that were marked as boo-boo candies. In English, the seconds off the line that were not quite perfect but still edible. They were separated into what type of candy they were in large boxes. Prices varied on these depending on their content. Some of them were incredible bargains, others were priced a little more than I would give for seconds, but its definitely worth looking. We came away with a trunk full of items for about $30. Buying in bulk lowers the price per box considerably, so join forces with your peeps and split a 10 box purchase, your wallet will be happy. read more

I was on my way back from Manhattan to Colby Kansas. I saw a sign that states free samples so we had to stop. Unfortunately we did not get free sample but there were a ton of chocolates that were half or even more than half off. The staff was very friendly even though we showed up 10 minutes before closing on a Sunday. They have a large selections of chocolate along with ice cream. The ice cream is to die for but it is very sweet so make sure you are ready for sugar and brush your teeth afterwards. Definitely suggest coming here, kids will love it! read more
