We had them remove a tree very close to the house. They did an excellent job. My only complaint would be some of them smoked. I have never smoked but I get sick from second hand smoke. I was given the name of Russell's Tree Care by a highly reputable tree service out of Lake County, Indiana. So I contacted Russell's Tree Care regarding removal a huge oak limb that had fallen on my mother's roof. The owner did answer stating he was out of town and would get back to me regarding his schedule. He did not so I texted him...no reply. I then called him and he said he could meet me on a specific day between 1-2 pm. Also I explained that there were several trees/limbs around the property that were either dead or a threat to the house so would like an estimate for all the work. On the date we agreed to he never showed or contacted me even after I called him roughly around 1:15 pm. read more

My Dad does not own a computer and has requested me to write a review on his experience with this company. In October he asked them to come and give an estimate to remove 3 tall cottonwood trees. They left the contract in his mailbox. He agreed to it. $3000. They came out 12 days later to cut them down. He wanted them cut down to Two foot. He said they ignored him when he told them. My dad ran errands and when he came back, he again told Russell, the owner, and his crew he wanted them cut to 2 feet or less. They ignored him. Dad wrote them a check for $3000 in advance plus $300, for a fourth tree. He left and when he returned, Russell was no longer there. The crew was loading logs onto a bucket truck. The other truck and chipper were gone. My dad asked if they were going to finish the rest of the job. They ignored him and left about dark. They left a huge pile of logs, the plywood they brought to set the chipper on, and didn't clean up the chips. My dad filed a small court claim in which Russell kept getting a continuance for. He told the judge he couldn't cut over 24" because his chipper couldn't handle over 24". He told the judge he kept in contact with my dad. He never contacted him to finish the job. Seems to me if you have chain saws, you would cut it up so you can do the job, or your poor job would be word of mouth. As you can see by the pictures, the job was not finished. My dad has learned never to pay in advance. Sad to see a local business take advantage of the elderly. As you can see the trunks are taller than his pickup truck. The wood was stacked, not taken as they said it wouldn't fit on their truck. I would not recommend Russell's Tree Care. read more

Hired years ago to cut down 3 huge oak trees and trim others. Job not completed. The owner argued with me when I called him to come back and finish the job. They came back and did a half a$$ed job. Very disappointed in the so called "service" he provides. read more

My experience with this company was nothing at all like I thought it would be. When I initially called to request an estimate, someone came the next day. About 2/3 days later I received an e-proposal for the work. I agreed to the cost and signed. Then I waited. And waited. After 1 week, I called them and they assured me my job would be done the next week. So I waited. Almost 2 weeks went by and nothing happened. I called again. "Russ" told me he had been in Vegas (?). Ok, well what about my tree job? He said it would be another week. After waiting almost 2 more weeks, I finally cancelled the proposal. Any company that cannot communicate with their customers, and leaves them waiting on broken promises - is not one I would recommend. Unless you like waiting. Also, they never responded to my cancelling the job. No questions, no explanations - this company just doesn't care. read more

Called Russell to get an estimate. He said he would be out within 2 days but never showed up. When he didn't show I texted him and no response. I waited a couple of days and left a message but he never returned my call. My employer was the one that gave me his name because he had done some work where I work.. I will make sure to let them know not to give his name out to anyone else since chances are he won't call them back. read more

I'm writing this review on behalf of my 91 year old grandfather who paid Russell's Tree Care $1500 to take down 2 trees the first week of October. They assured him they would be coming back same day to remove the stumps and never showed. He has called them every day since and no one will take his calls. He ended up having to spend $150 with another company to have the stumps removed today. My grandfather was taken advantage of and lied to and that is NO way to professionally run a business. read more

I thought my experience with this company was going to be positive. Russell Sessions, the owner came out in late August to give me an estimate for pruning a large honey locust tree that had a lot of dead branches. He is an arborist, seemed very knowledgeable and believed he could save the tree rather than taking it down. He told me he was 2-3 weeks behind. I accepted his emailed proposal the next day; then heard nothing for a month. I left several messages over the next week (now 5 weeks out), including one asking him for a referral if he couldn't do the work. He finally responded back at the start of the 6th week, saying that he agreed that he had ignored me and would definitely be out this week to complete the work. He never showed up. I agree with an earlier review that this is not a tree service I would recommend because all you end up doing is waiting for a response. read more

This company started off great by saying they would be out that week to remove our stump in our landscape if the weather permitted. After we called every week and 3 MONTHS later, still no stump removed. They did say we had to move more landscape bricks, no problem! We understand that, so we did! Still no removal.. My final call to them , I asked if I just needed to have another company take care of it and she said YES! Her exact words were ,"they are willing to let the ball drop on this one", really?!?! I had Russell's come out to remove a tree that leaned over my neighbors garage. A few days later their garage roof began to leak. My neighbor found a piece of branch that had penetrated the rubber roof. Russell has ignored my requests to come and see the problem. read more
