Had my first eating adventure at r taco today. Loved everything about it. Fun environment for a date or a family. Easy menu but with an overall plethora of taco options. Prices very reasonable , and service was excellent. We had chips and queso and I was impressed as the cheese was more than expected. Hen the tacos came very quick and had plenty of toppings that helped to fill the belly of a hungry man. Tried the pablano pepper, shrimp, fish, and pork/pineapple and loved all four. Shrimp taco fried was AMAZING!! So much flavor and I just loved it. Alittle over priced but that taco was good. I got about 6 different tacos to try, the Birra taco was not good. No flavor very plain. I was disappointed because the picture looked good but they didn't look anything like the picture. The other tacos I got were spicy chicken and fish. They were both fried and plain. No flavor as well, but the SHRIMP TACO WAS VERY GOOD! Service was okay, as the girl taking my order didn't know much about the place. Hadn't really ever heard of R Taco. Turns out it is chain restaurant with locations in TX, OH, MN, CO, IA and NE. This location is in a strip mall. Parking out front was limited but I think there was more parking on the side. The place was fairly full on a Saturday afternoon. We needed a quick bite to eat during our shopping day. There was no line and I tried to ask the man at the counter some questions about the food, etc. He was not too interested in talking with me. Sometimes it is nice to get the opinion of the staff regarding what to order. I noticed that they do offer all-day breakfast tacos but that was not what I was in the mood for. I ordered the #8 BAJA SHRIMP TACO Grilled shrimp with creamy baja sauce, red cabbage and cilantro and the #7 FISH TACO Grilled with chipotle crema, red cabbage and cilantro as well as the chips and guacamole to share. I don't remember what my daughter had. We thought everything was okay. Nothing special. I realize both of my tacos were seafood but they both tasted exactly the same. I don't know what the creamy baja sauce or the chipotle crema are but they tasted the same. The guacamole was alright, it had huge hard pieces of avocado in it that we could not eat. There was salsa in a refrigerator that you could self serve, I did not try it but my daughter did not care for either of the two kinds she tried. I only had iced tea but they also have margaritas, a wide selection of beer, Jarritos and Mexican coke. There are so many Mexican restaurants out there. This one was fine. I've eaten at this place 3 times this week and would go back for a fourth. Nice selection of lil streeties. 3 tacos make for a nice lunch under $10. They have several specials during the week including taco tuesdays with a group of $2 tacos. I particularly like the Rusty Taco #9 (aka the "R Taco"). I rarely skip the chips and quac. The place is always pretty busy, but surprisingly fast. Also worth mentioning is that R Taco is an underrated breakfast taco joint. Recently added more breakfast options. They open at 7a most days and have some simple but delicious breakfast items. Not busy at all in the morning - grab and go! Excellent tacos with many choices! I love being able to order each taco individually. Decent prices (around $3 per taco) and plenty seating. Great salsa options in the "help yourself fridge". Chips are decent but nothing so good it's worth noting. However, the churros are out of control yummy. Beware carb avoiders - do not come near. Great spot to catch a quick bite and feel like you're not really at a fast food chain (even though you are). Note that parking is somewhat tight so don't get annoyed too quickly. read more

I'm only giving this place three stars due to the bartender/cashier that worked this morning. I love the food here! It's absolutely amazing and I crave it often. But when you enter a restaurant you should not feel like you are unwanted. 10 am is when we came, no other patrons in the restaurant.. the cashier was very rude and was not keen on helping us with anything we needed. I asked for a straw and she literally looked at me and pointed. Although, the assistant manager working was very pleasant and helpful while "cashier lady" was extremely unhelpful and unfriendly. read more

We've been to the Maple Street location before & were happy to have one open closer. Service was great, food was good, but not as good as the other location. Queso was a bit gritty & the chips were a bit greasy. I can't eat cilantro and while you can order almost everything without it, the slaw is made with it, which makes it inedible. (I was warned ahead of time - just wasn't sure how much was there) Price is extremely affordable! We'll definitely be back since this locale is newly opened. read more

Well in the spirit of helping our local restaurants during the pandemic, we decided to place an order here. Unfortunately we were very disappointed in our experience. First we asked about the specials and the girl behind the register was unable to explain what they were offering. In her attempt to explain the family pack, we decided to go with that. As she explained, we ordered from only the tacos marked in blue on the menu not realizing we could have ordered ANY taco from the menu. So we paid $32 for tacos that we could have ordered for only $22 based on it being Taco Tuesday. We decided not to argue it and just support the local restaurant. When we received our order, we said thank you and have a nice day. The girl ignored our comment. We were really upset by her rudeness and then the icing on the cake was when we got home, we only had 9 tacos in the bag and the salsa and queso were small and half filled. We went on a Friday night and the place was busy. It didn't take long to place our order or get served. The employees were happy and friendly. They made suggestions and made sure that any questions we had were answered. We had an assortment of tacos, chips and pico de gallo, and margaritas. The margarita was on the rocks and was made with fresh lime juice. I enjoyed it. The fish taco was bland. The tortilla was cold and there was a mountain of cabbage on top. I ordered the grilled shrimp taco but was served a fried shrimp taco instead. The place was busy and I didn't want to wait again for the right order. Once again bland, absolutely no seasoning and a mountain of bland cabbage on top. My partner also ordered a chicken fajita taco. The meat was cold as were the tortillas it was served in. In most taquerias the tacos come on two tortillas so they don't fall apart when you eat them. This was hit-and-miss, two of the three tacos only had one cold tortilla, one had two cold tortillas. The chips were warm and came with refills. The pico de gallo was watery and had no heat. It is nice that they have margaritas and beer. The food needs improvement. Great service! The food was delicious and hot. Because of covid they have taken all self serve items away like napkins, straws, and salsa bottles. Delicious Tacos!!! They have a huge selection of tacos and they are all delicious! They even have breakfast tacos and they serve alcohol. My wife and I stopped in about 6:00 on 04.19.20 to grab some dinner to-go during this COVID outbreak. She got the Fried Chicken (#10) and a Brisket (#5) taco. I got a Rusty (#9) and Chicken Fajita (#4). We also got some margaritas and some chips and queso. They were not terribly busy (2 other customers were waiting for their food when we arrived and 2 others came in to pick up their food while we waited) and while we normally go to the West Maple store, we've been wanting to try this one. After about 5 minutes our margaritas were ready. We waited... and waited... and waited. Another 20 minutes passed before our food was ready. The manager apologized for the wait and offered us a complimentary dessert or other item for the inconvenience. My wife wanted some chips and guacamole. When we got home we found the chips and guac had been replaced with sopapillas that were overcooked almost to the point of being burnt. The chips we got were a bag that had been sitting on the counter the entire time we waited that appeared to be for someone else's order and the bag had now soaked up all the oil and just made it look nasty. Both the chicken and pork in my tacos were dried out and cold. The fried chicken in her taco was warm but the brisket looked dry. The margaritas were good though. read more

5 stars hands down! Tried it today with the wife and we were impressed! I got the pork taco and the fried chicken taco and ill tell you what that pork taco was heaven in my mouth! Wife had a grilled shrimp baja taco and she loved it. Its a good place to go and have a few tacos and mexican beer or margaritas! Wife had a magarita and she was buzzin like my cousin! We got 3 tacos chips and cheese a margarita and a soda for $20 so not bad. Only downside is tacos are kind of small but they make up for it in flavor! They have 3 bottles of sause you can layer on a green sause a habenaro and a regular salsa. Green sause is weak but the salsa hot sause is amazing! If we were the shady type we would've took the bottle home its that good! But since its going to be a weekly spot for us we decided against it but we almost did! Horrible customer service.. We attempted to check the order before leaving but nothing was marked so we trusted them and left. We ended up missing a part of our order so we went back to get the rest of the order. My taco was suppose to be a fried fish taco and was a fried chicken taco. A member of my family (whose tacos were forgotten & gone back for) is having to "rip" his bites off because of a hard shell and not able to finish it. Not to mention we live 0.6 miles away so the tacos were not sitting for awhile, should have been pretty fresh. When we got back to the restaurant to pick up the rest of the order there were no apologies given, just "would you like any salsa?"
