I'm a *very* new golfer. Like, played my first nine holes ever here. And it was awesome. Gorgeous facility, it's not too busy so as a first timer, I didn't feel rushed. All the other golfers were so nice and respectful. I don't know anything about courses but I loved playing all the holes. It was a good mixture. Perfect location near the city, easy to get to. A bag of beers was perfect for the course too and super affordable!!! Such a great spot. My only complaint is the lack of bathrooms on the course - a couple extra port-o-potty's every few holes would be nice! read more

9 Hole Course tucked away in Ucity that's perfect for you and a group to get out and after it. They are accommodating and will do their best to fit you in, even for a last minute scheduling. I have not played the course so this review is for the driving range. The range is very nice you can pay at the range so you do not have to go to the pro shop for a code. The range balls are decent I'll get maybe one cracked one per bucket. Prices are relatively cheap. Plenty of room as well I have never had to wait for a spot to open and usually there is enough room to have a full spot in between you and the next person. read more

Fantastic and well maintained municipal course. It's short and easy - perfect for a quick 9, and very walker friendly, but with some decent elevation changes on a few holes (2, 3, 5). The fifth hole is a fun par 4 that'll challenge most golfers. The staff keeps this place a well oiled machine - kudos to Doug and his team. They renovated their driving range last year. Chipping and putting practice green available. This is my favorite muni course in the city vicinity. read more

It's a picturesque old school muni course tucked into the back corner of U City. It oozes character and the rates are very cheap. I did not end up doing more than hitting a bucket of balls on the range and working on the putting at the practice green for a while due to the threatening weather, but I would love to come play a round. read more

Ruth Park has changed a lot in the past 10 years since I played it. It used to be a pretty crappy course, but you can tell the staff has put a lot of work and money into making the 9-hole course enjoyable to play. For a public course, it's well maintained, and the staff is really nice. The course is well worth the $13 weekend (non-resident of u-city) greens fee. Not particularly challenging, but great for beginners through intermediates. Pros: well maintained, inexpensive Cons: fairly short course read more

My father and I played 9 holes at Ruth Park Golf Course this morning. We booked our tee time online for $13 each. The price was $43 total with a cart. Next time we'll probably walk because the course if not that long and is fairly straight. There are few hazards (I don't remember seeing any sand at all) and the course is very pretty. I think this course is a great value. Also, a game warden patrols the course to make sure time is enforced, which is fantastic. I'll go again. Maybe tomorrow. read more

Do not go here if you want to be told you are playing too slowly when you are stuck behind 2 groups at every tee box. We arrived at least 10 minutes early for our tee time, as to be respectful and begin on time. The group 2 in front of us were playing slowly so we were not able to tee off on time. We had to wait for them and the group in front of us (who were also trying to play quickly). We still played the first hole quickly as to not slow the group behind us down. After the second hole, the Marshall came to let us know we were not playing with speed and needed to be respectful of the hole times. At this time I stopped playing and my husband continued to play. We still continued to wait at each hole for the two groups in front of us. The group behind us drove into us twice. The Marshall did not come back to say anything about this. At hole 5, after being drove into again, we left the course extremely dissatisfied with how things were handled here. The course itself is beautifully maintained, so one star is warranted for course maintenance. Not worth it though. read more

Hadn't played Ruth Park in 30 years. Came back a few weeks ago. I was surprised at how well the course is conditioned for a muni. Despite the tornado that touched down on the west side of the course this spring(yes, there were roof shingles in some of the high rough areas), the course was excellent. What a waste. I love playing golf, and will play any opportunity I get, but some times it just a waste of time and money. I worked a half day, and decided I would play the course by my work, and realized I had no balls on me. No problem, I thought I will just by some at the place right, wrong. $9.50 per sleeve (3 balls) of Srixon. C'mon I pay 10 bucks for a dozen. I like to walk when I play, and though it is only March I understand that the course won't be in the best shape, but this place really needs some work. The fairways have large spots of missing grass, including spots where obvious flood damage occurs. If you charge someone 15 to walk, at least put in a drainage system. No water, no sand, now that I think about it no hazards at all, (Except O.B.). If you can hit the ball you got a chance here. Greens were O.K though nothing to horrible, but the rough had large areas under repair, and places near the green are just patches of mud. The clubhouse is a joke. I was afraid to ask for a beer, not that I think they serve anyway, but its just a hole. The guy at the register also has problems ringing people out, it shouldn't take five minutes for a solo to purchase 3 balls, and pay for greens fees. At the driving range, their is no fence, and you shag your balls brought from home. Can you say dangerous!! There is people out there, and another guy is hitting his driver right at them, and since the driving range area is not fenced, even when you are playing a round you still have to be cautious of stray balls. Overall, to say the least I don't think I will ever play here again under any circumstance. read more

A nice 9 hole course. Always well maintained. Nice staff. Nice driving range. Fairly easy. No sand. Water only on one hole. Almost flat greens. The only difficult thing is that the fairways on a couple of holes really slant to the right. If the fairways are hard, a ball that lands on center fairway will roll to the right and end up lost in the junk that runs along those fairways. read more

For almost 10 years, I've been playing golf. It has always been fun. Overall, it's a gentleman's sport. Every once in a while, I do encounter bad service, but nothing really left a bad taste in my mouth. Not so this time, when I visited Ruth Park Golf Club at University City. Ruth Park GC is my community golf club and I play here many many times with friends or by myself. I just recently realized that GC offers a free round of golf for peoples' birthday when they sign up for the GC's eclub online. I was happy to find out about the promotion because it was my birthday and I was trying to enter my information online to get my free round of golf. However, it kept getting "Sorry, the database is currently not available, please try again later" error message, regardless of how many times I tried. I reported the problem to the staff at the GC through phone calls a few times. I was told to come in to resolve the problem with the manager. Thank God it was Friday, I found some time to go to the golf club and was hoping to resolve the technical issue and get my free golf today. I went into the pro shop and talked to the staff at the cashier about the problem. The staff pointed me to the person to whom I should speak to. I started describing my problem to the person. The person's first response caught me totally off guard. He said that it is not their problem and asked me to contact the hosting company who hosts their website to resolve the problem. I insisted that it is not my duty to contact the hosting company; Ruth Park needs to contact the hosting company and work with them to resolve the technical issues because they have a business relationship together. The person showed no patience and started walking away as I was trying to explain why they needed to contact the hosting company to resolve the problem. Very soon, I realized that my explanation was a joke to the person. I started feeling, as if, I was talking to myself. I chose to give up and was heading towards the door exit. As I was walking out, I heard that same person raise his voice with a belittlement tone stating, "You just want free golf." I was shocked to hear that and it was very unprofessional from this supposed "professional." I left the pro shop and thought that I shouldn't have been treated the way I was treated. I decided to file my complaint and let that person know about my unhappiness with the treatment that I was given. There is nothing wrong with trying to get a free round of golf on your birthday. For their birthday, certain restaurants give out free meals! It's called a promotion to build on existing business. read more

Good price but the course is just not very good. Poor maintenance maybe or just not well groomed. I would only recommend it if youre out to practice and not looking to have a good day of golf. read more

Apparently Jozo hasn't been around in awhile. Ruth park Is in great shape, better than ALOT of 18 hole public courses in St. Louis. The range is now Fenced, the Cart path goes all the way around(it didn't previously) and now has a pond fronting the 8th green. Quite a bit of money has been put into the course in the past 3 years. Great course, good atmosphere, fun to walk. read more

Just got done playing Ruth Park for the first time in about 20 years!!!! It was a delightful surprise. Club house very clean and nice. Friendly people. Nice selection of beverages (a little high in price, but OK). The course was in fabulous shape especially considering the heat and lack of rain we've had all summer. A few of the greens were fairly challenging. No sand traps or bunkers, but nice rolling hills to make some of the fairways tricky. Great for beginners or middle of the road players. Contrary to what the other reviewer said, there was a lot of fencing protection from the driving range, with the exception of along the 9th hole, but there was enough distance and trees to protect you from range balls. I think I just found my new favorite little course for a round after work. Looking forward to my next round. read more
