I drove an hour to their shop. This is a regular occurrence when I visit relatives. I purchased notions and fabric. Among my purchases was a 4.89 needle Threader that I discovered was defective when I got back to my family's hissed. When I called them, they refused to send me a new one, although I was willing to mail them defective one. I told them I would not be able to return to their shop before my out of state trip home. When I told them what poor service this was, they didn't seem to care. Small business lives and dies on service. Shame on them. I'll never return. By the way they almost charged me for 600 needle threaders! Maybe you need training. read more

Ruth's Stitchery is a gigantic quilting store in Colorado Springs. They have a big selection of different fabrics including cotton, flannel, wools and more. There pattern selection is just as large and they have samples of many of their kits up around the walls of the store. If you are into machine embroidery they also have a big selection of stitch packets available. The staff were very helpful and the ladies at the cutting tables were very nice. This store is participating in the 2017 Row by Row and will also sell the pattern for the 2016 Row by Row for you as well. Had a great time shopping and picking our some fabrics here. read more

Unfortunately the owner showed me today that they don't care if they have mine or my mom's business. I wanted a kit, but they wouldn't let me have credit on my punch card, so I had to have the kit cut there in store to get the credit. It took an hour to cut the 32 fat qtrs. My mom is on oxygen and was worried she was going to run out. The owner told her to just sit and relax. Unfortunately other customers were annoyed because they too were wanting fabric cut. Wondering what happened to customer service and why so petty? read more

I loved this shop! It is a nice big shop with an awesome selection for quilters and stitchers. Nice displays and friendly staff made my visit and enjoyable experience. There were lots of regulars in the shop and visitor like myself. This place is well worth checking out. The fabrics are the stars of this shop but it was fairly well stocked with fibers and charts for the various needle arts. While visiting Colorado Springs last year I made two stops in this shop and both were positive experiences. The staff was very helpful and the displays and models very nicely done. I bought linen and some fat quarters plus a few charts plus the mills beads to go with them. They had a nice display of cute scissors, tools and stitching accessories. If I was a quilter I think I could do major damage to my credit card here. read more

I was super excited to check this place out. Whenever possible, I prefer to support local businesses. Unfortunately, this store will not be receiving any business from me. I want to start by saying that I am new to sewing. I've never had a need to look at and buy fabric until now. I was avoided by every employee I came near. Once I was finally able to get an employee to "help" she didn't even care to. She made me feel like an inconvenience. It's been a very long time since I have been treated in such a way. I even expressed to her that I was new to sewing. All in all, it was a wasted trip. I won't be back. Though, they won't care. read more

Nice fabric but not many precuts. Pretty quilts hanging on the walls. Very disappointing customer service!!! Nobody greeted us at the door and after wandering around the store for awhile we were never approached to see if we needed help or had any questions. Probably will not return. read more

Ruth's is amazing! I am a quilter, and they have the best fabric selection, especially my favorite: batik! It is so easy to be inspired by all the display quilts. I have purchased one of their kits for one of the display quilts and they made it so easy! Everything was precut, labeled, and organized by block. They also have an amazing staff of experienced sewers and quilters. I haven't had a chance to take one of their classes, but I've gone to the "sew-ins" when you can bring in a project you are working on and get support on it if needed. I purchased a pattern the very next day went in and told them that I had purchased the same pattern twice and just wanted to exchange it and the woman all but accused me of stealing and lying and would not take the pattern back for an even exchange. read more

I originally went into Ruth's for cross stitch supplies, and found a great selection of patterns and threads. Ruth's offers a great selection of linens, Weeks Dye Works, DMC, and Sampler Threads products. After I finished my cross stitch project, I decided to give punch needle a try. I had never done it before, but the staff at Ruth explained the process to me and helped me find everything I needed. I've now moved on to a quilting project, and once again I've found a ton of great materials at Ruth's-- they have a large selection of fabrics and batiks, and a nice array of fat quarters. Every time I go into Ruth's, its packed with seasoned quilters and sewers-- I think that's a good sign. Fun tip: if you're a frequent shopper, you can pick up a card. Every time you make a purchase, you get a space on your card filled out. When the card's full, you get 10% of your total purchases to date back in store credit. It adds up fast! read more

During Covid, I have been able to find everything I need at Ruth's. At one point I wanted to make a quilt of specific color and pattern. The staff answered my call, delivered to the parking lot to my car when I arrived, and were so kind and helpful. It's due to them that I didn't lose my mind during quarantine. This shop has everything, fabric, patterns, supplies, needle craft, but try ordering something they don't have! Went in there twice over a 2 month period & tried to order a knife for my Viking serger. Both times they said they would order it, but yet never wrote anything down or put it in the computer. At least the first time I went in, they checked for the part in the back. The 2nd time they wouldn't even check. They just kept saying they didn't think they had it, but would order it. Really? When?? Next year? I finally just ordered the parts online. So much for trying to support the local businesses. I'll just keep ordering everything online, much more convenient. read more

I've been a needle-working maniac for 10 years, and I know my stuff. Walking into a store where they carry every single thing you need is wonderful, but getting treated like dirt by snooty sales ladies can kind of bring down the vibe. You can expect to find anything that pertains to needle-working in this store, but beware! I have yet to walk out of this store without being angry at how I was treated. read more

I had to get service on my 20 year old Viking/Husqvarna sewing machine I received after my mom had passed away, so I brought it to Ruth's Stitchery. They were excellent! Service was quick and thorough. The price was reasonable, as well. The shop is amazing and the staff is very friendly. I will always shop here and take all my machines here for service. read more
