I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR RUTHY. When the original plan for my custom wedding dress fell thru, I wound up having to find a plus size dress locally that I could buy off the rack. I got lucky and found one that I liked, in my size. It was beautiful, but it just wasn't me. I brought it in to Ruthy for some alterations and she made it the dress of my dreams. She added my wedding color to it to make it more unique without compromising the design and fit of the dress. The alterations were impeccably done. (If you need a wedding dress hem, call her now). PHENOMENAL! Ruthy is brilliant. She can take anyone's vision and turn it into a reality. I came to her with a plain white halter style dress. I asked her to add blue lace sleeves and make it look like the dress was made with it. I knew it was a tall order to request something entirely different and asking to make it look like it belongs there but she exceeded my expectations. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone with seamstress needs but especially to those brides who are not satisfied with the cookie-cutter style, off the rack dresses. I did not want to give one star but this would not let me continue unless I rated and they do not have a no star. Do not ever go here if you want your wedding dress done right. This lady took my soon to be daughter in laws beautiful wedding dress and had it for over a month. She did not alter it to fit her and when she went to do final fitting Ruth was very nasty to her. It was not done correct or was the bridesmaids dresses. What was suppose to be a happy time has turned into a nightmare. So, we found an alternative seamstress locally that was able to fix all the alterations to my wife's wedding dress that this lady claims was impossible to do. She claimed that she couldn't do what we asked of her to alter the dress because it was just a "off the rack" dress, and that we are stupid for thinking that anyone could do so...Well we did, and because this awful woman not only could not deliver what she promised a month in advance from the wedding, and didn't inform us until a week before the wedding that she wasn't even going to try and complete it, and still kept all of our money despite her failures to complete a simple task with adequate time and sufficient funds, our desperate attempts to find a real professional with true skills in the profession of making wedding dress dreams paid off! An angel was sent to us and with 45 years of experience tailoring and altering, was able to accomplish my beautiful brides dream dress in not a month like we gave this hack ruthy, but in 5 days!!! Thank God for truly honest people whom can deliver their products, as promised, and still show compassion and love for their trade. Ruthy cannot and will not ever compare to such a person. read more

She altered my wedding gown and the trim looks amazing. She saved my fabric in case I wanted to keep it and was so patient with me when I had many questions. A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE I don't even know where to begin. Perhaps the sloppy, half assed job? Her dirty floor/carpet with pins all over it? Maybe after a month of having mine and my sisters dresses, she still hadn't finished it? And then giving me a lame excuse as to why? She didn't even call to tell us that they weren't ready! She even wanted us to pay the total balance upfront. Ruthy was defensive to every question I asked her about the work that she had done. She said that since my sisters dress was "off the rack", there wasn't anything she could do with it. Apparently her motto for alterations is "It doesn't matter how much you paid for your dress, what name brand it is, or how beautiful it is on the hanger...if it doesn't fit you impeccably, you wasted your money!" That is bullshit. If it's off the rack, don't bother. I won't be taking anything else to Ruthy's. This woman is unskilled and/or cannot handle her workload, is downright rude and knows nothing of customer service. She kept saying that she didn't have time to fix any of the many things that were wrong with my sisters wedding dress that originally she said she would do. She even broke my garment bag and didn't replace it. After maybe 10 minutes of a very rushed final fitting, my sister expressed her dissatisfaction in which Ruthy said that she would take in the sides and the bust free of an extra charge (even though she already charged for it) if my sister would give her a 5 star review. I would give her zero stars because "Eek! Methinks not" doesn't cover my feelings towards this business. I feel like "Run away screaming" is more appropriate. Please do yourself a favor next time you want something altered and go somewhere else. It's not worth the nightmare. You do not need this extra stress with a wedding around the corner. read more

I had an awful experience at this place. The owner insulted me, frightened my flower girl, and was all around horrible to work with. She rushed me through the entire process and even acted as if because I had bought my dress off the rack, I was somehow less than. She told my fiancé that the dress had already been altered even thought she had pulled the original tags off it herself, which in turn only proved that she completely didn't remember who I was to begin with (more importantly she didn't care). Her attitude and defensive demeanor ruined my whole experience. She also tried to bribe me by saying that she would fix it and do what she said she was going to do if I gave her a five star rating. Unbelievable. In the end I still ended up having to pay her and had a dress that didn't fit because she had done a half fast job on the whole thing. As a result I had to take my dress somewhere else (spending more money) to have it fixed. When my fiancé contacted her about the situation she said that because I had bought it directly from the store ( and even thought the tags were still on it) she could work with it. I sincerely caution anyone thinking of work with her. This is all happening a week before my wedding and she blissfully didn't care. I am appalled that she, as a business owner, operates in such a fashion. read more
