I was sent these flowers for Valentine's Day. They are absolutely gorgeous! The roses are a beautiful cerise color. I had been out to dinner and driving home. My cell phone rang but I did not answer it because I did not recognize the number. When I got home the driver was sitting in his car for me to come home versus just leaving them outside my door. It was 45 degrees outside. Normally, other florist have just left them sitting in freezing cold or in high heat. I highly recommend this forest for the amazing customer service but also for the beautiful arrangement. read more

The arrangements are never like the pictures. I don't think they even cut the stems on flowers, all arrangements I've seen look like they've been thrown together.. you get more greenery than you do flowers. I work at a funeral home and see the arrangements that are made and given to families a few times a week, they're embarrassing. read more

3 chances to get it right. FAILED every time. Ordered a specific and expensive arrangement through FTD. First delivery looks nice enough, but only resembles my selected arrangement in that there were flowers in a basket. Okay, mistakes happen, I ask for a correction- the arrangement I selected and paid over $100 for. 2nd delivery is 4 roses, 4 carnations and a ton of fern. It's the right color (pink) this time, but pathetic looking. Complain again...recipient gets another arrangement identical to the first wrong arrangement. I GIVE UP! Lesson learned. I'd give a ZERO if I could. My son purchased a beautiful arrangement for me. I was overwhelmed by his sentiment but immediately noticed half the flowers were withering. I told him the next day that he should call & get a refund because most of the flowers would last maybe 3 days at the most. I know my son, he paid a huge price for this huge arrangement. I told him to never order from this place again. Simply unacceptable. I can get better flowers from Costco & Wegmans & arrange myself that would last a couple weeks. I did not take a picture, but My husband picked up the two very pricey corsages I had ordered earlier in the week for an early Mother's Day lunch today. Ultimately, my friend delivered them herself because she felt bad for that recipient. Not only were the flowers beautiful, but the driver who delivered them went above and beyond! I ordered flowers for my mother who had just returned home from the hospital after having surgery. Typically all deliveries are left at the desk of her building. The delivery driver, Karen, went the extra mile to take the flowers to my mom's apartment. It made my mom's day and mine also. I had been worried about how she would get the flowers from the front desk. My mom said Karen was so sweet and asked her about how she was feeling. I paid for a large coastal breeze bouqet, and paid extra to have it deliver same day. What she received was not only THE WRONG arrangement. Some of the flowers were dying and wilted over. Completely embarrassed. Having this half ass arrangement delivered to her work, and knowing it was from me, was an absolute embarrassment. I could have got a prettier arrangement from Giant. I'd ordered several bouquets via Teleflora for Administrative Professionals Day, and they were fulfilled (if you even want to call it that) by Mid Atlantic Floral Fulfillment (aka Rutland Beard Florist.) - One of the bouquets I ordered never showed up. - Two of them were: a. Not even close to what I'd ordered - I understand substitutions, but seriously, these didn't have one flower in common with what was actually ordered. b. Half dead, and c. one of the two had clearly been dropped - the delivery person didn't even shove all of them back in the vase, some were just loose in the box. - The fourth was not even close to what I'd ordered, and were replaced with cheaper flowers for the same price (I'd ordered peonies. got some white filler flowers with three pink roses shoved in there - the name of the bouquet was "Pretty in Peony", for heaven's sake. All it was supposed to have was peonies.) $86 for filler flowers and three roses. Con artists. - The rest, when I'd ordered the Deluxe version of a bouquet, it was mostly definitely NOT the deluxe version, just the standard, and some of the flowers were in poor condition. I did call Teleflora and they made right what they could, but I still feel ripped off. Mid Atlantic Floral Fulfillment ought to be thoroughly ashamed of how ridiculously bad their service is, but if today was an example of how they do business, I expect they're just crooks so I doubt they'd care. If you place an order with Teleflora (or the other big floral services services I suppose,) in the Baltimore area, you need to INSIST they are not the florist that is used. read more

I ordered flowers for my uncles funeral and paid for rush delivery to the funeral home. The arrangement had not one single flower in it that was blooming. Not one. So it was an arrangement of green stems basically. So sad. A day later, it's still not blooming my cousin said. When I called them, they said it didn't say funeral home so they are allowed to deliver flowers that haven't bloomed. They delivered it to a funeral home. Very disappointing. read more

Not only am I upset that Rutland Beard put my order to be delivered at the end of the day, but I paid extra to have it delivered early. And on top of that, they did not refund my money for an order they never delivered ! If not for American Express, they would have kept my money for flowers that never arrived. I ordered a festive Christmas arrangement with holiday evergreens, red carnations, and white chrysanthemums. I received an arrangement with red roses, tiger lily's, peace lily's, red roses, a couple of tiny red carnations, and baby's breath! First they lied about delivering the arrangement on 12/18, then when they delivered this poor substitute on 12/19 that had obviously been left out over night. When Teleflora finally reached Rutland Beard, Rutland Beard told them this was an acceptable substitute! I will NEVER order from Teleflora or Rutland Beard!! I received a call from "someone" who works for this place and was told that the delivery was made. I just found out today that my co-worker NEVER received her bouquet because the brain surgeon of a delivery man LEFT the bouquet outside of an apartment building!!!! So he flat out lied! Daughter ordered Christmas centerpiece The centerpiece was nice but arrived damaged, The christmas bucket the arrangement was in had been taped to something at some time and apparently the tape was then removed pulling the paint off the bucket. The tape with the paint on it was in the box with the arrangement. when I called to complain I got "Oh we're sorry" Someone was to call me back after I forced the person on the phone to take the order number and phone number. The past three times I have ordered flowers the order was either not delivered at all...twice...or was so erroneously handled that I had to cancel it. The standard answer over there being "I have no idea what happened" or "it's not our fault." I called Rutland florist and ask them if they could send my mother flowers each and every day for the 12 days leading up to Christmas. My mother has a severe case of Alzheimer's, and the doctor say this is the last Christmas she may remember. Rutland said that this would be no problem and every day I would call my order in with a special message for-my mother. But on day number nine when I called in, they said that they were overwhelmed with calls for flowers and they could not take my order for flowers until Christmas Eve. I explain to the manager that this ruined everything and her response was,"I'm not even gonna go there with you." I have never written a review, positive or negative, in my life. But this display of just not caring at all, from mother who has a debilitating disease, is just beyond reproach. I don't even have the words to convey how terrible this is the service is. I am originally from Maryland but am living in North Carolina right now and this morning I ordered flowers to be delivered to my best friend for passing her occupational therapy board exam. I spoke with someone about requesting they be delivered after 5:00pm when I knew she would be home from work - he assured me he put on the request a 5:30pm delivery and that it would be no problem at all. 2:30pm rolls around and I had a call from the delivery girl telling me she was on her way to deliver them. I told her they were supposed to send them after 5:00pm because no one was home to receive them right now and she proceeded to ask me if there is a neighbor she could leave them with (um, no - these are being delivered in Baltimore) or if there was a porch she could leave them on - it's 26 degrees in Baltimore today.. so, no that's not an option. I was then told the person who they were being sent to could go pick them up from the shop. So tell me what the purpose of paying delivery fees and having a surprise bouquet sent to a best friend is?? I called the shop to speak with a manager. She told me that the person who told me about the note for a 5:00pm delivery did not have the authority to guarantee that. It is not my problem that someone in your business set me with expectations that a 5:00pm delivery would be fine. Manager said they do not have drivers in the specific delivery area at that time. I asked if it was at all possible just to have it as the last delivery of the day or just fulfill what was promised of me. Her response: "No, not JUST FOR A $30.00 flower arrangement" and then hung up on me. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? So you discriminate and decide what customers you want to satisfy based on how much they spend? Sorry that right now what I can afford isn't worthy of your service. It should not matter what a customer spends, every one of your customers should be treated the same. Shame on you as a manager for being so disrespectful to a new customer and shame on this business. Will not use them, will not recommend them. BTW - I'm getting married this fall and am not currently in a contract with any florists for my wedding.. some good customer service maybe would have won you a much bigger order with a couple extra 0's tacked on to that $30 you claim wasn't good enough for quality service. I ordered an anniversary arrangement using Teleflora, and they used this florist although they are located southwest of Baltimore and our house is northeast of the city -- don't know why they didn't use one of the many area florists. Anyway, at 5:50 p.m. I received a 'confirmation of delivery' e-mail sent by the florist, but there had been NO delivery. After an unproductive call to Teleflora to find out the status, the flowers finally arrived at 7 p.m.; and they weren't fresh, plus they had been lain on their side during the trip and all the water had flowed out of the vase. Buyer Beware! I ordered three arrangements through 1-800-Flowers.com. Two were delivered by other florists, just as ordered, no problems. The third arrangement, through Rutland Beard Florist was a different story. The arrangement was to be delivered on 22 December. Nope, with the story they had tried multiple times. My 84-year-old friend's apartment is in the building with the office, so there should have been no reason for it not to be delivered. Next day, call again to 1-800-Flowers and told it would be delivered on the 23rd. Ha! Ha! Nope. Another call to 1-800-Flowers. The arrangement will definitely be delivered on the 24th. Finally, a delivery! BUT it was not what I ordered and nothing that the recipient would have wanted...roses and candles. Not only did this embarrass me as the sender, but the recipient because she was trying to like it. I was not happy with them as a first time order. The staff were very professional and considerate. The problem is, I paid a good amount $$$ for this arrangement and balloons that they forgot to add to the order. I specifically asked that the delivery occur after 3pm and it got there at 1:11pm. When ordering the arrangement I saw on line, which is beautiful, the person on the phone said do you want that upgraded to deluxe or premium? I upgraded to deluxe which cost more $$$ but this alarmed me because I thought to myself if I don't upgrade are they just going to send some substandard flowers picked from the back yard? When I called the next day because the person I sent the arrangement to said what balloons? They offered to send the balloons the next day. I'm like ,NO!!, the thrill is gone and you should have sent what I ordered and the person is not at work today. The deluxe flowers were nice but they are waaayyyy overpriced. My dealings with this business have been an unfolding disaster, and I cannot recommend it. Initially, I was delighted to support a long-standing florist in my area for a small venue wedding (of a friend - my contribution was to be floral). Small business florists have been slammed by grocery chain floral departments for the past 10 years, and I was glad to support one. Rutland Beard (specifically Wilhide's) has been a complete flop every step of the way - exception being the initial sale interaction which was lovely. In short: (1) the flowers were not delivered on time, (2) no one answered my frantic phone calls - the bride's father drove to the store inquire where the order was (3) the order was incomplete when it arrived TEN MINUTES before guests - by then I had obtained emergency flowers from a nearby supermarket, (4) there was no response to my online notification of late delivery (made that evening), (5) four days later I hand delivered my complaint and documentation to the store - I was promised a full refund, (6) a full 2 months later there has been no refund so I have disputed the charge via credit card company, (7) I revisited the store to redeliver my complaint (only fair to be sure the company knows fully why I disputed), (8) I thought to follow up with certified mail to ensure that this information was being distributed within Rutland Beard - when I asked for the name/position of a responsible person to receive this mail, I was given a name but also informed that my letter from the day before had been received. No discussion, no apology, NOTHING was offered at that time. I am clearly not a valued customer - and all I have done is raise the point that delivery was unacceptably late and partial. Awesome place! Full of beautiful things, and the owner/ people who work there are super kind. Their arrangements are all stunning I wanted to buy the whole cabinet, but I'm a poor student. They were super nice and worked with me when a screwup by a Walmart cashier ( double charged my card) suddenly left me with with less funds temporarily. I definitely recommend going here it's a real gem that you'd never know exists since McDonald's is in the parking lot in front of it. 5/5 read more
