I came in with dry, damaged, uneven color and left with the best hair I've ever had. Walking into a new salon can feel intimidating--especially after having past experiences where stylists fried my thin, fine hair. But from the second I walked in, every single stylist looked like a model, yet they made me feel so welcome and hyped me up without even trying. An employee offered me a drink right away while I waited, and then I met Hannah. She was warm, professional, easy to talk to, and genuinely interested in helping me figure out a plan for my hair. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted, but she talked through everything with me and we landed on a cut and balayage that turned out better than I could've imagined. What made the experience even more special was the energy of the whole salon. Justyne (an owner and brow/skin specialist) popped in and included me in conversation with her and Hannah like I was part of the crew. Kelee, another owner, came over in between clients, cracking jokes and chatting with us. And right next to me was Lindsay, who was doing extensions and talking about how much she loves her work--her attention to detail was amazing and her vibe was just as kind and genuine as everyone else's. It's rare to find a place where the talent, atmosphere, and customer care are all this good. I left with beautiful hair and a full heart. my grandma went in to see bettie for a basic, simple blowout on the morning of my wedding day (july…read more19 2024). there are limited hair salon options on the island and even though the reviews for this salon were outdated, we took a chance. when my grandma arrived bettie acted like she had no idea what my grandma wanted, and she left the salon looking like a witch. her hair looked frizzy and bizarre, not at all what she wanted. a blowout is a basic staple at any salon, for any hair stylist. i wish we could have gotten a refund but no one had time to handle the situation. my grandma ended up having to get her hair done by one of my aunts. waste of $95. do not go here!

She had me lay back in the sink for awhile while she experimented with greensand yellow colors to fix my hair, but it only made it worse and even more damaged. Not to mention this took her 5 hours to complete!!! That was 5 hours of my life and time wasted. I called back less than 24 hours and asked if i can come in free of charge being that i paid for a color that was not achieved. She told me she would check with her partner and call me right back but she never took the time to call me back. Today i callss her back and she told me it will be an extra $40 to tint my hair to the brown that i was told that i was going to be given. Not only did i have to call her but she was very dry and unprofessional in the way she spoke to me. Who does this? Charge extra for work they were already paid for and its not like i came back 2 weeks later. Im an unsatisfied customer and will never go back to this place an i will not recommend their services to anyone.

When I was there Kalea was very professional and she helped me put together what kind of cut I wanted. I went for a shag/mullet type of style and Kalea executed it perfectly. She also gave me tips on how to style my hair and recommended products to use. Throughout my appointment we had nice conversation and I felt very comfortable. So we saw Heather Head. Let me say first off...this shop is really cute and the nautical theme well done. We had a little bit of a hard time finding it within the building but it's upstairs :) in the same building as the bagel place. So back to Heather. She was absolutely adorable. Fun, friendly, and just about a perfect match for him. She listened and was just great. He was thrilled to get a scented hot towel treatment. It was his first time at an actual barber shop and it was a very good experience for him. It was an hour drive for us but worth it. We made a day of it and had fun. Ship Shape is a very inclusive place with a mission to be a comfortable experience to everyone. This is actually how we got there, looking for a good place to go where my largely queer family can go without walking directly into obvious nasty biases. This isn't a great experience and I do my best to not expose people to it. There was only a welcoming friendly atmosphere, fun music, clean and pleasant environment and a lovely hair stylist. My kid was in heaven and now his sister is demanding to go next time! I definitely recommend giving Ship Shape a try. I know we will be back.

She layered my hair to oblivion which was shocking considering how much hair I have. I was underwhelmed by the color which looked nothing like the photo I brought her. I ended up cutting off 6 inches and coloring it myself after having spent $300 bucks. Hopefully other people have a better experience.

I had my hair done by Chelsea for my wedding day. I wanted an updo that would also accommodate a…read morehair pin and a veil. We also did not do a trial (my choice to save money), so I was putting a ton of trust in her! Thankfully, it all worked out wonderfully. I showed her some photos from Pinterest and we talked through logistics of what I wanted before she got to work. She got it done within an hour and took some time to give my mom instructions on how to insert the veil later in the day. She delivered on exactly what I wanted and helped me to feel beautiful for my wedding! My hair held up all day long (even for the after party!). She was also very sweet and made it a fun part of my day. The price was incredibly reasonable - I think it was $95 + a tip. The salon can also do makeup, which I wish I would have known because my makeup artist ended up being quite pricey and I had an issue with my eyelashes coming off right before the ceremony. Anyways, I had an AMAZING experience with this salon with ZERO complaints. 10/10 recommend!
