I've had an excellent experience with Smart Tax & Accounting Services. The team is knowledgeable,…read moreprofessional, and always takes the time to answer my questions clearly. They made the entire tax process simple and stress-free while providing great advice along the way. Their attention to detail and friendly customer service really stand out. I highly recommend Mia to anyone looking for reliable and trustworthy tax and accounting services. I'll definitely be coming back next year!

We've been clients of Smart Tax & Accounting for several years. When we first started, we worked…read morewith someone named Kim and had a great experience. Unfortunately, she eventually left, started her own firm, and later moved to Texas. After she left, we continued with Smart Tax & Accounting. For Tax Year 2022 we met with Liv, and unfortunately, that experience was not great. She may have been new at the time, but there were several mistakes, so we requested to work with someone more senior. We were then assigned to Tai, and for Tax Years 2023 and 2024 everything went smoothly. He was responsive and generally took the time to explain things clearly when we had questions. However, our experience during the most recent tax season (Tax Year 2025) was disappointing enough that we've decided to end our relationship with the firm. One issue involved Roth conversion planning. We asked Tai to run some numbers because we were considering doing a conversion this year. The calculations he provided contained several errors. When I pointed them out, he reran the numbers, but the revised version still contained mistakes. For something involving tax planning, accuracy in these calculations is obviously very important. Another concern was his comment that we shouldn't provide our mortgage statements because he didn't want to run the itemized deduction forms since we would "most likely" take the standard deduction. My understanding is that they charge based on the number of forms filed, but it didn't make sense to me not to run the itemized calculation at all. Even if it's unlikely, the numbers should still be checked to confirm which deduction is actually better. Overall, the process this year just didn't feel as thorough as in prior years. For example, there was no discussion about our charitable contributions, and we also weren't consulted about when our federal tax payment would be withdrawn. We eventually realized that the payment was scheduled for April 15 after not seeing a withdrawal for several days. Personally, I would have preferred the payment to be made when the return was filed, but we were never asked. In the end, there were simply too many issues this year for comfort. Our taxes are not particularly complicated, which made the experience even more surprising. Because of that, this will be the last year we use Smart Tax & Accounting. Hopefully the firm improves its review process and communication for future clients.

TL;DR: Worked with Garrett Jones at Crossroads Financial Planning for tax prep. Misquoted our taxes…read moreby nearly $4,000. Poor customer service -- impolite and dismissive. Once paid, they offered little further assistance. Significant miscommunication between staff members on essential elements of our filing. Longer version: We hired a tax preparation service to help navigate changes to our filing status after getting married. Our tax consultant, Garrett Jones, began working on our application with the wrong filing status. After correcting this error, there was poor communication regarding important changes that needed to be followed up on, which resulted in IRS notices arriving in June. When I raised my concerns with Garrett, his guidance was vague and he offered no clear timeline for resolution. Weeks later, with no progress made, I was left with the impression that once he had been paid, his investment in us as clients had ended. I spent approximately 10 hours on the phone with the IRS trying to sort out the status of our account. Throughout this process, Garrett maintained that I owed approximately $2,000 to the IRS -- when in fact I had a pending refund of approximately $2,000. In the end, we were left with a significant miscalculation, poor customer service, and no choice but to resolve everything ourselves. I'm still unclear what the fee we paid to Crossroads Financial Planning actually covered. Highly recommend taking your taxes elsewhere.

She charges a fair price and helped me get a substantial refund last year. Cuz of an annoying K-1 that always comes late, I have to file an extension every year, but she has been appropriately conservative in estimating the amount I should pay both the IRS and FTB just in case on Apr 15, making my refunds even more pleasant of a surprise lol. She's also helped me with my dad's tax returns. Thank you! P.S. I think I already alluded to this earlier, but to emphasize in this day and age of stupid inflation: her prices are very reasonable, at least based on what I just read chatGPT says I should expect for our return's degree of complexity. Shoot, does that mean if she reads this she will raise her rates? I hope not hehe

She retrieved my documents from me and started me on the process. After which I met Kathy who is very efficient and nice as well. She got through my taxes in just a few minutes albeit my tax case was relatively simple and cut through. Kathy went over my taxes with me and explained each line to me. Then explained the amounts I would be getting for my federal and state tax refunds. I liked at the end how Kathy put everything in a nifty blue folder for me to take. I would definitely recommend TT Tax for anybody needing to do their taxes and will do my taxes with them next year.

My usual Amazon locker was full, and AIM Mail Center popped up as a Amazon Counter. Cool! Once I received my package-ready-for-pickup email from Amazon, I made my way over the following morning to get my package. The store opens at 8am sharp - and the guy was on-time. He was friendly, prompt, scanned my email barcode and started to sort through the pile of packages behind the counter. No lines. No wait. I was in and out in a matter of minutes. In addition to Amazon package pickup services, there's a few walls of PMB (private mailboxes) - which are sorta like PO Boxes, except they can prob accept Fedex/UPS packages for you in that the USPS can't. Assortment of greeting cards, display signs, mailing supplies, copy machine services - you can even get your keys cut here. Not sure about the prices, but I imagine the value is that you can avoid the crowd at the post office if you ship here. Plenty of parking upfront depending on time and day - it's in the busy Albertson's shopping center with like 7 Kei Concepts restaurants.
