I don't even know where to start with Brian.... Brian likes that state that Sotheby's is all about…read morethe relationship and not about the transaction and that's what sets his team apart. However, Brian completely failed us on the relationship side of our house sale in the summer of 2018. When these points were called out to him he continued to have an excuse for his on-going incompetency through this transaction. When the relationship piece failed with Brian he flopped back to the transition of the sale. What he continues to lack the ability to understand is our issue with the Hopper Group was not about the sale of the home but how he continued to fail, lie and his lack of accountability and ownership along the way. Below are key issues with Brian Hopper related to the sale of our home: * Unauthorized Showings * Switching Title Companies Without our Knowledge * Incorrect Home Address on Printed Marketing Materials * Online Marketing Strategy Not Aligned * Cutting Open Houses Short * Inability to Listen/Comprehend Unauthorized Showings There was a showing on July 6th at a time that we specifically told Brian would not work for us. Regardless he booked the showing with the other agent keeping my pregnant wife out of our home walking the dogs after a recent knee surgery. This caused me to have to leave a work dinner to quickly get home to help my wife out. Brian simply couldn't grasp our frustration with this and just continued to state that multiple back-to-back showings were a good thing. He neglected to care about us, mostly my wife, in this situation and only about the transaction - so much for the relationship side of what was promised. Switching Title Companies Without our Knowledge Not only did Brian switch our title company from Rainier Title to FATCO without our knowledge he also never informed the agent with Rainier Title this was occurring. The agent at Rainier Title only found out secondhand. Brian stated his guy Doug was the best and cheaper and they would beat Rainier Title. This wasn't true and Brian initially refused to refund the difference in the extra cost to us. It was only when it was escalated to his leadership that he acknowledged to her that he dropped the ball on this and would pay the difference. Incorrect Home Address on Printed Marketing Materials As part of the Brian Hoppe Group "white glove" service he also printed our incorrect address on our marketing materials. This was never corrected during the entire listing even after it was pointed out. Online Marketing Strategy Brian stated that he was revising our online positioning with Sotheby's and other online real estate sites. However, the content across Sotheby's, Zillow, Redfin, etc remained completed inconsistent during the entire listing. Again, so much of "white glove" service. Cutting Open Houses Short The first open house we had with Brian was going to be for two hours. Brian arrived to the open house 20 minutes late and left the open house 15 minutes early. He simply felt that he didn't have to put forth any effort to sell the home and wasn't doing his job as promised. Inability to Listen/Comprehend Going through this process never once did we feel that Brian was listening to our concerns and was more focused on selling and getting through. I know that Sotheby's markets themselves as a relationship based real estate company but we felt this was anything but. He pressured us into taking less than asking offers versus looking out for our best interest. Never have I ever encountered a more self-absorbed person than Brian Hopper. He takes credit for everything that bounces his was but never gives credit to the agents on the other side of the table and even worse, never takes ownership for when things don't work out the way he promised. Never once in the two minutes does he acknowledge anything he did wrong but only focused on the fact the house closed.
