I had a 2007 Civic for out of province inspection done in this place. The car previously passed out of province inspection twice as it was in BC 3 months ago and back in AB then back in BC again within 8 months. The mechanic failed the car for absolutely most ridiculous reasons (in my opinion) such as: 1. Battery not tightened enough (loose). Really? They would rather write it down on the report rather than take a wrench and tighten it??? 2. Trunk didn't seal.... yes, the trunk was not evenly shut and one side sticked out a bit. As it turned out, purely cosmetic, I went into the trunk after myself and didn't see any light peeking through from the outside... They told me to go to body shop and see if there is anything we can do before we even bother with other items on the list... Took me 2 minutes exactly to correct this, I reshaped it using a simple wooden log and some pressure from the top to make it flush perfect... 3. Tinted Headlights... This if the funniest in my opinion. There was 0 tint on the headlights and what they saw was a High Temp UV resistant clear coat after I was restoring headlights from yellow residue that builds up over the years... This made me laugh so much because I challenged the mechanic explaining to him that the lights were never tinted and that it's just a clear coat residue on it... They said... "Well, it needs to be redone then...". As mentioned previously the car passed an inspection with those lights twice in both provinces 8 months before.... Bottom line is that going to the shop, you expect to learn something new and deal with someone who knows more than you do... Unfortunately I felt like I knew way more than an actual mechanic, I fixed all the "failed" items from the list myself and had it reinspected within a week or so and of course it passed.... I must mention that there were other items on the list that were more legitimate such as missing back seat, cut seatbelt (which I haven't noticed) and no clutch rubber cover and a warped tire, but the fact that they bothered to put those ridiculous items on the form that were listed above made me loose all the respect for this shop. Furthermore, the mechanic said that we should see if a body shop can do anything about it before we put money towards it... Really guys? A 2007 prime condition civic and you are trying to tell me that there may be no hope? What an absolute joke.... read more

Travelling from Ontario to British Columbia my car broke down & was towed to Ryanco on a Saturday night. Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. I contacted Ryanco Automotive in Calgary & they checked it out and replaced the starter by 1:30 p.m. so that we could continue our trip. The staff was very sympathetic to our situation & expedited the repair in a timely fashion. I was impressed with their customer service & would recommend them to anyone in need of repairs. I had taken my vehicle to another place...was told the transmission was done and they would haul the vehicle away for me. On the advice of a few people I had it taken to Ryanco. It was not the transmission and a job that I was told would be $6000 to $7000 was $1300. And I still have the vehicle. Great place and I would highly recommend. Carolyn McDonald read more
