Knew exactly where we wanted to go. Fare policy easily readable $4.25 first mile , 25 cents per tenth of a mile afterwards. Cost us $8.25, we threw him a $10. I deducted a star because there was no taxi meter. Rather a Garmin Nuvi tracking the distance. I would use them again. Clean cab, some Chevy 4 door.

My flight landed in Boston just as the commuters were beginning their daily assault on the city. I weaved through the sea of paycheck cattle, managed to take shelter in an outbound commuter rail toward my home town, and felt entirely relieved to be nearing the end of my travels. Not so fast. It was apparently naive of me to give Attleboro the credit of assuming it was the type of place where cabs regularly frequent train stations. They don't. At least, on this clear sky morning they decided not to. Thus, I was left with cumbersome luggage and underdressed for the colder-than-when-I-left frostiness. To my brief relief, and may I emphasize the brevity there, I spotted a policeman watching over a minor road repair job. I approached the cop and asked if he knew anyone for me to call or how I might get home. At first, he said he simply did not know. Preferring not to let my tongue lash at law enforcement, I took a few steps away and had barely relinquished myself to cursing the use of my tax dollars when Mr. Cop had a streak of brilliance, and remarked to me to try Houle's. As soon as he said the name, I knew I recognized seeing the name around. The same name around town on the same cars around town since I was birthed, but I digress. To stay chronological... I called Houle's and, growing increasingly frozen, managed to stammer out that I needed a ride and was on the street near the train station. The guy on the other end of the line, who I can effortlessly envision resembling Jabba the Hutt, demanded that I tell him where I was going. I guess "home" wasn't clear enough the first couple times I stated it. Had I not been at his mercy, I might have said, "Well, I took the train to Attleboro to catch a taxi the rest of the way home to Cincinnati actually." We rose our voices at each other with every line. The back of my mind was starting to think, "Well, this one is hopeless. Might as well let off some steam." Surprisingly, he ended our correspondence with, "Ten to fifteen minutes." *click* I pondered finding an alternative and leaving Houle's hanging, if someone was even coming at all. Curiously, a taxi actually did come. It took a few extra minutes, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose. I hobbled into the taxi, putting my luggage into the rust-bucket wagon with zero help from Mr. Chauffeur. Also worth noting is that my fair driver had to ask where I was going, entirely negating the necessity of the phone battle I had waged before. Ok, back to my point above about the cars. Yikes! Ever heard of reinvesting in your company, Houle's? These things are time capsules in the least exciting way possible. The seats were different colors, not in the "I'm chic and artsy" way but rather in the "Yea Bob? I need a passenger seat. Ya got 'nething?" way. It's 2013. Every half decent taxi offers to take a card for payment. Ones that qualify as good even offer *drum roll* a screen with such novelty info as weather and news. Houle's? The back of a head and a trip to the ATM for patrons low on the green. After my ATM pit stop, we did finally get home. I paid (and did tip, for what it's worth) and zoomed into the comfort of my home with a speed unparalleled since Usain Bolt in London. My experience with Houle's was over...and never to resume again.

Update 2026: still a 5-star service!…read more Bill's Transportation Services gives me what no Uber or corporate service could: true piece of mind and the feeling of community. I feel very safe using this service to pick me up in the wee morning hours at the airport and get me home safely, and as a single lady that is very rare but of utmost importance. I have been using this service for almost three years now and the quality has always been top notch. The service has grown to include several more drivers, of which I've had two newer ones, both of whom were polite, courteous and professional. If you're reading this looking for a ride, I encourage you to give Bill's Transportation Services a try, whether it's an airport run, drop off/pick up from a doctor visit you won't be able to drive back from, or any other ride you'll want to schedule in advance.

Bill was early for pickup to Logan and super nice on the way there, making the ride enjoyable. The brand new van offered a very comfortable, smooth and quiet ride and we had plenty of time to spare at the airport. Before departures Bill even offered a courtesy check to make sure we had all the important items like passport, wallet, phone etc. Arriving home, our driver Tony communicated his ETA and called us to confirm the precise pickup point even down to the inch. Tony was so nice and we had good conversation with him and again the van was super comfortable and clean. Tony even helped carry suitcases directly to the door. I appreciated that both Bill and Tony communicated multiple times in text with confirmations, ETAs etc. Sent photos of the vans well in advance with license plates which was a really nice touch, so that we knew exactly what vehicle to look for. Bill and Tony easily accommodated an itinerary with multiple stops which made our lives SO much easier and saved us from unnecessary driving and coordination. Everything was done via text/phone which is way better than dealing with a clunky website or corporate office. Price was very reasonable and very well worth it for the level of professionalism you get. We will be booking with Bill's Transportation Services in the future for sure.

I called for a ride to the hospital for a scheduled breast cancer surgery. My husband is very ill and my daughter lives out of state and the ride I planned fell through. Needless to say this was a very stressful and emotional time for me. The dispatcher quoted me a price of $28 - cash only. The cab arrived promptly at 8:30. I could not open the broken down old slide door! Hmmm, ya think the driver might have gotten out to help? Nah! He not only didn't open the door for me but was annoyed that I couldn't do it myself. Before even moving he demanded money up front and now asked for $30 as I got in the car at 8:32 . He explained it was a dollar a minute! I brought $40 cash with me with with the plan of giving it to him and asking for just $5 back allowing for a $7 tip! I was in tears as having to ride with this awful man for something so emotional and life altering! I explained to him that my father was a cabbie for many years and that I had worked in the food service business and that I come from a long line of tippers! My Dad would NEVER have treated a customer like that! He then said "ok only 60 cents a minute. I handed him $30 and of course he had no change. I told him "there's your tip"! I was clearly distraught of which he had not an ounce of compassion! He pulled up to the hospital without saying a word! Once again I struggled to open the door and he could not possibly get off his a-- to help me just kept explaining how to open the door! He sure took me for a ride!!
