    Having fun w Fam!

Everything was magical. Food was so good for the price! Ambiance was wonderful. Attentive service. Such a beautiful place!

    Lovely Setting at the hotel..

Why do I give this hotel 5 stars? I've been coming here on special occasion for over 40 years and I've always had excellent customer service. The staff has always been amazing. The bar was classic vintage and the food remarkable. And the history a story still being told. This may 34th I was supposed to be married in Oregon to the love of my life. But instead the venue for my wedding was canceled and I wanted to come up with something special to do on that day because we had to reschedule our wedding months in advance ahead of us. So I selected to return to this hotel ask my fiancé to marry me for the second time because the first time I didn't have a ring and the second time she would get one. When I made my reservation I talked to Tina the event manager there and she set me up with a couple really nice rooms. Now I have to say I fully understand that they were beginning a major renovation for this nearly 100 year old hotel and had to stop before it began because of C 19. I knew before I made my reservation that it was in need of deep deep renovation and that everything from the area out in front of the hotel to the smallest details in the room needed attention. But I knew that they were working on them. Sometimes it's more about the experience than it is the problems that they're trying to do a work around with. I have faith that they will get to these things in time but the economy just didn't support them at this moment. Tina was very upfront and told me that the restaurant and bar were closed and that they had limited rooms that they could open because of the shelter in place. When she heard I was coming to ask my fiancé to marry me for a second time so I can put the ring on her finger she was all in. What a great help to us the entire time I was there. Tina also suggested that I go out and set up a picnic in the back Garden gazebo where we are surrounded by flowers to enjoy my moment with my fiancé and her daughter who was with us who is also in on this. My fiancé had no idea what I had planned. It was the ultimate surprise. Champagne perfect weather tons of food beautiful people and nap under a shade tree it was perfect. We had our picnic in the garden and a swim in the river our rooms were wonderful and we had a completely enjoyable stay at the hotel. I can't wait until they're fully functional and start their brunches again we will be there. I will be there with my fiancé wearing her wonderful ring and her daughter. I can assume that it will be brought back to its former glory with an event area that separate from the hotel off to the side or you play some more your boat while you are staying at the hotel on the river. Final note. I would like to give a shout out to a young man and I hope I get his name right but I believe it was Jonathan. In the evening when there was no one around Jonathan was there to see do I need for icing towels or anything else that we needed. What a really really nice young man he took incredible careless. Even refuse to tip with a smile. This is the kind of employee everyone should have. Thank you Jonathan.

Very friendly and historical staff. Brunch was delicious and well presented. Actually had a fun weekend exploring Locke, Rio Vista.

My sister and I booked a stay here because we were from out of town for a family event. The first room we were assigned to it was dirty!! There was food everywhere and the bed was not clean. The bed was undone from the last guest. The bathroom was dirty. It had look like somebody literally just checked out and then we were assigned it. Nobody even bother to check if it was cleaned. Then the second room we were assigned, the sheets were dirty. I called the front desk to explain again the room doesn't look clean either. The bed sheets especially. She brought up new sheets and blankets and expected us to change them. Sorry but that's not my job to do. At that point my sister and I did not feel comfortable staying there. With the unsanitary rooms and then the fact the front desk person, Tanya expected us to change the dirty sheets and blankets for the second was room is absolutely ridiculous. When we went back downstairs to explain how we felt and everything, Tanya did not seem to care, she didn't apologize or anything. We ended up checking out and not even staying. And now the hotel manager is ignoring our calls for a refund and hotels.com says they can't get ahold of the manager there. With the price of the room too for a ONE night stay, absolutely not worth it! You're better off finding another hotel. Zero stars!

Our suite (one of five) was absolutely stunning. The Innkeeper (the first of three amazing Innkeepers) had the gas fireplace lit, and wonderful instrumental music playing, as she showed us our suite. The food was phenomenal: gourmet breakfasts, 5:00 wine and cheese, and homemade cookies in the evening. My favorite part was the patio with a fire pit overlooking the vineyard. Tonight, we returned for another birthday, but the experience was nothing like before. We arrived at 6:10 PM for our 6:15 reservation. Upon entering, the hostess walked right past us with another party, without so much as a "I'll be right with you." Another employee eventually asked if we'd been helped; when we said no, she said she'd find someone. We were finally seated, and our server, Monica, was the bright spot--attentive, friendly, and kept us updated on our food. That food, however, took nearly an hour to arrive, and we watched several tables who were seated after us receive their meals first. When our dishes did come, they arrived in stages--the succotash and salmon first, then the pork chop and gnudi about seven minutes later. Worse, nearly everything was cold and overdone. Pork chop: Unevenly cooked--some parts dry and overcooked, others undercooked. The potato purée was gummy and overworked, though well-seasoned. Salmon: Overcooked and bland; I had to ask for salt and pepper just to add flavor. The corn velouté underneath was unpleasant--the corn kernels were dried out and rock-hard (I circled the pieces I had to spit out in the photo). The beans were burnt, not charred, and tasted bitter and inedible. The succotash was flavorless and had 1/2 cherry tomato poorly executed. Gnudi: The lobster was chewy and overcooked, and the dish was dry--it desperately needed a sauce and a bright note like lemon to bring it together. The only course that delivered was dessert. For the price, the quality was disappointing across the board. Needless to say, we'll be looking for a new spot for our future celebrations.

But with that, Elk Grove is a good-hotel desert. Seemingly, the competitor hotels are old and outdated, and this one is rather new and updated. The rooms were fine, the beds comfy. There was a small, but decent gym. The front staff were nice. The ambiance in the front lobby is very chill, clean, and the staff are nice. The hotel rooms look like studio apartments with the fridge, kitchen, dishwasher, provided utensils, desk, etc. I do feel like some of the hotel rooms that I've stayed in here could have been much cleaner. Also, the trash cans in the bathroom and in the room do not have bags in them, which makes some people throw trash that will touch the trash cans. The last time that I stayed here, the kitchen sponge to wash the dishes were previously used, and the paper towel roll in the kitchen was all dirty. For breakfast in the mornings, they are alright. The eggs and sausage were a bit cold, I definitely feel like they can put the breakfast in food trays that can keep them warm. I do recommend coming here and trying the place out and see if you like it. My first few visits here were good, but my recent visit here was alright. There are some hotel rooms here that look more modern and more clean, like having a spacious shower with glass doors. On my most recent visit here, I had a bathtub shower with shower curtains; so it depends on which hotel room you book!
