I always ALWAYS have a terrible time dealing with this location. On Thursday I dropped off a van that needed the oil change, two burned headlights switched, and a bald tire replaced. They literally had three days to get this done. Come monday morning and the bald tire is the same. How did this get the approval as safe to drive? If this bald tire explodes will Ryder take responsibility on any possible damages or loss of life that happens? Good thing I do a pretrip before the vehicle leaves the location. This review isn't against the service technician that kindly helped Monday morning to replace the tire. Ryder Truck Rental - Truck Rental Near Me - Hayward, California

I got on yelp and read reviews of different truck rentals in the area/vicinity. There wasn't a single review of this location (I guess I am the first) but I do remember using this place when I worked at a company that rented from them. Based on the reviews of the other places and my past personal experience with my former employer I went with Ryder, and boy they have not disappointed thus far. Yes, there was some issues with my first week rental i.e. ramp wasn't working properly, fixed, inside the box was broken glass and lots of trash, when night came found out the headlights didn't work. These are all the negatives but, Jacob had great customer service and took charge of the situation. My business partner wanted to go to penske after the first week but I convinced him to stick it out. And it has worked beautifully thus far. I like the fact that every problem or issue that came about Jacob or Maintenance crew took care of it. I have rented trucks from them on a weekly basis and every time there is a truck waiting for me in the morning for pickup. Will definitely keep doing business with these guys. P.S Thanks to the mechanic/engineer dude who gave me expert advise in the break room of the maintenance area as I asked a few questions on buying trucks based on motors, brands etc... Can't remember his name but he was very helpful. Thanks to Jacob also for all the assistance you have provided. Has a small business owner I've had to rent trucks now and then. The several truck rentals business's I've used, the Ryder shop In Hayward has by far been the best experience I've had so far! I had the pleasure of dealing with Louise who was very accommodating. The few issues I had, she was prompt to address. Bad experience with the Ryder. Monday morning made a reservation for pick up truck on Wednesday. I got there at 8am on Wednesday, traffic and raining day took one hour drive to get there. When I went to the office the guy said"sorry, no trucks available, only have 26' truck" I don't need that big truck in the city and pay more. The office open at 7am, they have enough time to call me and let me know no trucks available before I got there.....In fact, I am not sure they really "don't have a truck available for me " or they rent the truck to someone else......just make the excuse........ not guaranteed to get a truck is ok, also they are inconsiderate to not give a call before customer to get there if not available... waste the time and bad customer service. read more

Company sent me here to pick up a different truck since ours broke down with check engine light five times in a month. Got the new truck and was five minutes down the road when the red light came on and would only let me go like 5 mph. Horrible truck. read more

I have to say this business really sucks! We shopped around to rent a truck. We found a couple of places, but Ryder was the one we pick because good price and some other criteria. We pick the size of truck we want to rent. On the appointment date to pick up the truck, actually the previous day, they called us saying they did not have the size of the truck we already booked 5 days ago, but they will give us a bigger truck, like twice as big! It was kind of too late to do anything change, so we said OK then, bigger truck seemed fine! Then, the next morning we came to the Ryder in Winton Ave, Hayward, after waiting a long time because there is only one person serving many people waiting. It was our turn. Then, we learn that the price was not as the price we find out at the first place when we shopped around for better price. It was much higher, they said insurance and maintenance etc. and besides, we still had to take a giant bigger truck than the size we wanted! We were upset about these two hits, but we tried to be calm and did our work for the day. We used the truck for our work. There was an accident happened and there was a dent onto the side of the truck. We kindly reported the incident right after the return. The manager right away charged our credit card $500 saying we had to pay for the damage while we told them we need to work out with insurance because that was NOT our fault but the other party in the accident. Part of the accident was also because the truck was too big! We got upset and called the Ryder again, one of their employee, not the manager, told us they have not done anything yet! But, they charged our credit card ! Such a suck business, wish they out of business sooner or later! read more

We used to rent trucks from this location when it was owned by Scully. They were very good. Trucks were well maintained, service was decent and they did not LIE TO US. Since it has become Ryder we've rented 5 or 6 times and EACH time the truck has been somehow damaged and rented to us anyway. The last 3 trucks we rented from them had NO AIR CONDITIONING when they clearly said that it was working, including this last rental when I specifically asked several times if it would work. "Yes, yes. It works..." they say as if I am asking a stupid question. Well it doesn't....again. I still have the truck and have to drive from LA back up to Hayward mid-day without air conditioning, radio and windshield wipers that run nearly at all times whether or not I want them to. When I was in there picking up my truck, there was another disgruntled renter in there and waiting for what had to be an hour just to switch out a 24' truck on which the rooftop of the box PEELED BACK ON THE HIGHWAY. Seemed routine to the guys at Ryder. This Ryder location is crap. They will give you horrible service while smiling at you coyly. Whoever manages this branch is an idiot. Understaffed, careless and disrespectful. I'm actually shocked that there are no other Ryder yelps on here. Do they just hate MY company? read more

Disappointed with the service and prices in the company. I served by Jeremiah Hill, he did everything very slowly, on request, I spent 1 hour. I took a small truck for one day, from my card on the same day the company charged $ 300, and then returned a week later only 122 dollars, the question is why one day rental $ 178, especially since I returned the car with a full tank of gas, I was told that I drove 120 miles on it and I was charged the money for all these miles, I called the company spoke with Jeremiah Hill, said that I rode only 28 miles, he said he will call and not call back that day, the second day I rang again and it was the same thing this guy does not call back, then on the third day I came into the company again and spoke with Jeremiah Hil, he was looking for my long file (30 minutes), then checked (in the papers was the correct calculation of the total 32 miles and money removed from the card is not correct, he explained that a mistake the computer, but it's a lie! He then agreed to return only $ 26. On the return of my money again, I spent a whole hour. I do not advise, disgusting service and light-fingered guy. read more

Been using Ryder contract Hire vans for my business fleet fro the past 8 years. At first they where ok but in the past 3 years after our local branch closed in Enfield London the service has gone right down. Our new Branch is Rainham which is about an hours drive away and the service we have recieved is not acceptable at all. Our fllet is only 5 vehicles and they are all very badly maintaned by Ryder and constantly have to be returned for the same issues over and over again and on top of that they hardly ever have a substitue van available and when they do they incorrectly charge for the substitute van as one of the rentals team accidently puts it on theirs system as a spot rental. I have incorrect queered invoices dating back 3 years with Ryder that they cant seem to resolve dispite all of the evidence of their errors. All in all I would stay far away from this company as the all round service is appauling read more
