I used CVHS for about a year and a half. It's a very clean space and pretty quiet. Martel is always responsive and provides very professional service. There storage spaces are very spacious so be sure to ask Martel so you don't get something that doesn't fiscally make sense. We rented out one of the largest units when we moved here from the Midwest. It was easy-peasy to walk right into the office, tour the open units then fill out the paperwork. With auto-debit every month, I never even had to interact with the office after that first day. Nothing stolen or damaged. Other renters seem decent. No water in my unit even in the heaviest rain. The office is always staffed until 6pm. Tip: There is a coupon for a free lock in the yellow pages. And, yes, you do have to bring in the actual paper coupon. read more

I would recommend this place. I needed short term storage and this place was great. The facilities are clean, and appear to be bug/rodent free (which was important to me - because if I came back and there were spiders everywhere? yeah. they can have my stuff.) They also have coupons on the website for discounts on your first one or two months, a free lock..etc. And a truck that you can use for free (+ gas with refundable deposit, and if available) Look into that! Martell, the manager I dealt with took me around and showed me the various unit sizes and gave me an overview of the policies and procedures and what types of things were allowed/disallowed (e.g. Full Marijuana growing operation with hydroponic equipment? NO. - I asked. Dishes, paperwork, furniture, YES! - you know..just in case you wanted to know) He was always professional, smiling, and generally helpful in answering all of my questions. Because of that, I chose to use this facility. He was mainly there (during business hours, of course) to assist me if I had a question, or concerns, or were simply there to make a payment. (I only interacted with other office staff a few times and they were cool too). The only reason I took off a star was because the time on the box was incorrect and that can be VERY frustrating when your car is filled to the hilt with your belongings, only to arrive at 7:56 (by 2 phones, a watch, and a car clock) and the box say 8:04 and not let you in. I hope that time discrepancy thing was fixed. read more

I have rented here for less than a year but am very satisfied. I had looked at a few different local options for storage and came back to Castro valley Hayward Storage due to how well run this place is compared to the "competition". I like how they value safety. There are cameras all over the place and they can see who is in which unit at what time from the office. There is a bathroom onsite if you are pawing through treasures for hours and need to go. I always feel safe here, I always feel like my items are safe, and that I am valued. Each exchange with management is friendly and like you have known them forever. Exceptional people running this place. Also, I switched padlocks one day and they called me the next day to make sure I had done so. With the horror stories of flooding and theft from friends at their facilities, I am so happy and at peace knowing the work that is going into preventing any sort of issues like that here. read more

I went here because of the internet offers and positive reviews. Yahoo search comes up with an offer for 50% off first two months rent. The video on their website also states 50% off first two months rent. The Manager (Martel) had no problem telling me I was mistaken, there hasn't been a 50% off offer for years, the video was out of date, or whatever he could think of to get me back on track of his sales line. The deception and tactics continued. The price on the website was for online offers only, He only had one unit left and he could reserve it for me if I made a commitment today. I had to laugh at the bait & switch used car salesman tactics. My dissatisfaction was not based on cost. Their billing practices are horrible. They don't send out statements for when rent is due, tack on a huge penalty if its a day late but they have the ability to send out late notices. Why can't they send an email statement reminder if they have the ability to send out late notices? Why, because they get extra penalty money for not sending out emailed statements. read more

I love this storage company they are professional, they have cameras, they have a free moving truck to use, and they have dollies for their customers. They also have the gate code entrance very accessible where you do not have to exit your vehicle to enter it unlike PUBLIC STORAGE. Oh and they also offered me a free lock. Unfortunately because I needed a deal for a 5x5 storage I went next door to Public Storage where Darcy tricked me into spending an extra 23$ dollars on a lock I didn't need and unfortunately I agreed to purchasing the tape to help her get a sale. I tried to return the lock due to the fact I had my own and Darcy said I couldn't.The storage does not have cameras nor do they play music in the storage for your enjoyment like Castro Valley Storage does. I should have stayed with Castro Valley Storage instead of trying to chase a better deal. My mother always said YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR lol. Sometimes cheaper is not always better. It was a bitter sweet experience over at public storage because Darcy was very friendly and I enjoyed talking to her. If i were to refer anyone it would be to go to CASTRO VALLEY STORAGE, they even have a really handsome worker in there too. So if you want some eye candy and a easy convenient storage company they're the one!!!!
